"really good hotel"
I spent 4 nights at the Ponte Sisto Hotel in Rome. The hotel is really nice. The receptionists were very helpful. They helped us with reservations, addresses and printed for us anything we needed. the room was nice and quiet and very clean. Very comfortable bed. The only missing thing in the room was a kettle for a cup of coffee or tea when you come back from the freezing street. Breakfast was very good with gluten free bread. I would stay at Ponte Sisto for sure if/ when I'm back in Rome
On our third trip to Rome we stayed here because of its proximity to the places we wanted to see. Very easy walk to Vatican City, Trastevere, any Piazza and many of the sections of Rome. Not close to the train station though. The hotel was very nice, tucked away on a side street. I would have given it a higher rating but many times the desk staff were rude, not all but most. When we asked for a recommendation for dinner they sent us to another small hotel restaurant. Nothing great, not what I wanted in Rome. We made our own choices from there on out. The bellman, breakfast and bar staff were very nice. Our room overlooked the courtyard. I could have used a better blanket. Often it was chilly. The bed was hard as a rock. We toured other rooms to see if we wanted to upgrade. The other rooms seemed the same size and layout only different view or a balcony. Since it rained most of the time we were there we saved our money and stayed in our room on the 4th floor. Our bath/shower door leaked all over the bathroom floor every time we showered.
"Great location, friendly staff if not a few niggles!"
We recently stayed over a popular sporting weekend and were very impressed by the location of this hotel. We did not want to stay in to central of a location and this was great. Perfect for a short walk over the bridge to the Trastevere with plenty of lively bars and restaurants. The hotel recommended and booked an excellent restaurant for us. The hotel is about a ten minute walk from the Pantheon so still a fairly central. We hired O bikes which were located along the ponte sisto bridge and across Rome- very much a 'boris bike' system but much more sophisticated and only 50cents for thirty minutes hire- brilliant way to get around Rome. The holiday staff were friendly as were the bar staff also willing to book taxis and help out. There is a happy hour in the bar. The breakfast has a large selection but strangely of the three nights we were there only bacon and eggs were put on for one day. We did have a couple of niggles our room was good but slightly frayed around the edges and you could tell it was once a smoking room. On our last day we left just before 7am to go to the airport and the breakfast started at 7am we asked if we could take a muffin and drink to go and they refused despite being paid for which we were not too impressed by however we would stay again. It's also shame the roof top terrace is only open in Summer. We booked through a luxury travel agent so did expect a certain standard.
We loved this place. The location is so central but there are other pluses...the bar for one - a great place to unwind after tramping the streets of Rome! The rooms are quiet and spotless and the breakfast buffet is absolutely fantastic with every kind of offering to tempt you. We certainly did not need to eat much at lunchtime! The only negative of this place is that it has the hardest and worst pillows I have ever rested my head upon! I hope the management read this and invests in some new ones - a small outlay for a great improvement to guests experience.
"Great location near Trastevere, with all restaurants"
Middle class hotel. Small rooms. Good wifi Terrible pillows and bed comfort Clean rooms Close to almost everything, walking distance to many attractions. Shopping streets far away though Breakfast could have been better
