Located in the heart of the Chamberi district, opposite the Plaza de Alonso Martinez, Sardinero Madrid is within easy access of all the city's top tourist and commercial attractions. Sardinero Madrid is served by a metro station across the street, which provides direct services to tourist hotspots, such as Santiago Bernabeu Stadium, the Salamanca district and Chamartin Station.
Excelent location, right at the metro station, with direct and quick access to all major sights in Madrid. Bonus points for the window doors that keeps the sun light out in the morning. Breakfast could be a bit more full/offering but sufficient. Several good restaurants close by. During our stay the hotel rebranded itself from Melia group also.
"Filthy Room - scaffolding view - promised refund never received"
We came to Madrid as a last night before leaving to return home. The hotel roll was absolutely filthy. The fabrics of the chairs were stained. The bathroom had layers of grime and the toilet would not stop running, we had to shower with shoes on. Everything in the room was banged up, we could have dealt with this but, it was dirty as well, see photos. Since we arrived later in the day they said the clean staff was not available and that the other rooms were booked and they couldn't move us. The manager as well as the reception agreed to refund the night. They never followed through and were very rude when we called to follow up.
"Could be great instead of just being really good"
This hotel is in a great location and is situated in a great building with all kinds of charm. It is easy to get to, assuming you can find it, as it is adjacent to the metro. We had a bit of trouble as the signage for the hotel is just about non-existent and the front is largely hidden behind a huge advertisement - I really hope this is temporary. I really liked the lounge and breakfast areas. The lounge would be better if it offered more in the way of food but it was a nice place to relax with friends - we hosted some local friends in the bar. Breakfast offered made to order eggs in addition to the normal European-style selections. The staff was good although it really isn't a full service hotel right now. One issue we had is that you needed to carry baggage up a flight of stairs from the lobby to get to the elevators. it wouldn't be so bad but the hotel really doesn't have bell staff. Another item was that the terrace areas weren't all that clean and the furniture was a bit worn. Our room, however, was great. it was very spacious with a very comfortable bed. We had a view out over one of the terraces towards the city center. One nice touch was a complementary mini bar containing coke, juice and water. The location is good and it only takes about 10 minutes to get to the "Grand Avenue". Lots of options for food nearby. The hotel can make recommendations or just look up somewhere on line. This place is so close to being great with a few polishing touches. I hope they get there without changing the price point!
"A very nice choice"
Don't get confused by the different name on the door (they are fixing):) The hotel is lovely, super nice staff and i really appreciated breakfast, with a wide selection of no diary/no gluten stuffs The rooms are big and modern.
"Fantastic Hotel - Fantastic Staff - Great Location"
We came to Madrid for the Madrid Tennis and found this hotel for our 3 nights stay. Location is great as directly next to metro so easy access to al tourist locations. Hotel staff were outstanding - all so friendly and helpful (giving us great recommendations for food). The hotel is vey "boutique" as had a lovely room on 5th floor which had a small lounge area and 2 large terraces that had outdoor balconys - very special. One of the best hotels I've been to for a long time.
