Amazing five star hotel, beautiful views of nature, golf and ocean, great pool and great food! A lovely wedding celebration at the Verbasco restaurant and wedding weekend with all our close friends and family.
"Modern hotel near the ocean and golf course"
Stayed at the Oitavos this week for the first time. Nice spacious room on the first floor with a large terrace with partial ocean view. The room is very modern (maybe a bit too modern for my taste) but well equipped. It was a bit cold in the room when I arrived but after adjusting the heating it was comfortable. Mini bar has a wide range of alcoholic and non alcoholic beverages. The pool is open 24 hours a day which is great. There is a spa too but I didn't have time to go there. Breakfast has a wide selection of food, yogurt and fruit. Particularly enjoyed the Pastel de nata which are hard to find outside of Portugal. The bar is in a lounge style, this seem to be a Portugese thing as it is similar in the nearby Intercontinental hotel. But I prefer a more traditional and cozy hotel bar. The scenery and nature around the hotel is spectacular and the nearest beach is 5 min away by car. I would recommend the Oitavos if you like modern hotels.
"Left with good memories"
Stayed here as a small treat. This hotel is located in one of the best parts of Quinta da marinha! The hotel is very modern the rooms are huge with nice land and sea views, I believe that the design is not appreciated by everyone as all the room is a open space, not an issue to me. As the hotel is so spartan, would be a plus to get a warm service from the staff specially the front desk one. Breakfast is good, a nice buffet and you can also order extras eggs, panckes etc! All in all was nice to stay here and I would be back :)
"Great golf trip"
Stayed here in May this year when the hotel was pretty quiet. Hotel first - The rooms are very impressive with very large balconies and great views over the nature reserve. Breakfast was also exceptional although even though it's was quiet there was still a little wait for some of the food and it took too long for empty buffet trays to be re-filled. Staff were generally helpful but due to the large expanse of the communal areas they had to cover, it took a long time to get anything done. As a 5* resort they probably need a couple of extra staff to deal with this. The golf course was in excellent condition and despite playing like a bit of a donkey thoroughly enjoyed the test. A word about the service within the hotel for the staff dealing with the golf, they were fantastic. Free water, helped with bags, free course guides and generally couldn't do enough for us. The hotel itself was a little tricky to find and due to the lack of evening atmosphere, cabs to cascais were around 10 euros. Highly recommend Somos um regalo which was the best and best value piri piri I have ever had in Portugal Overall a bargain for the quality of the physical hotel and golf course. A warning that on a windy day the course would be virtually unplayable!
"Architecture is spectacular"
This property was rated 4 because the setting and architecture is simply spectacular, the food was an A, service could be better. People were nice but considering the clientele, location and price point, service in the restaurant could certainly improve. The pool and backdrop are AMAZING, room was AMAZING. In the future, would be great to get a tour of property, how to get to beach, etc.Took us a bit to get our bearings. Lastly, it's not a family hotel. Although, there are families with little ones, make sure you have quiet kids. We had a 5 and 7 year old and had to ensure they were as minimally noisy as possible. There is an air of pretentious... I think this may be what the goal is. Overall, I enjoyed staying at such a beautiful place but it will be a one time thing.
