HOTEL VINCCI SELECCION ESTRELLA DEL MAR

Nice grounds to hotel, pool etc.... However, there were many aspects to our stay here, that we are very surprised that it has a 5* rating. Location is very isolated, there are no shops/supermarkets in vinicity, only a beach bar. (€17 by taxi to Marbella ) our room was located on the ground floor backing onto a garden at the back of hotel, the room was very tired looking (dirty walls and dusty floors) and extremely dark/poor lighting and lack of mirrors. The biggest disappointment to our holiday was the buffet restaurant. The evening meals were shockingly poor, and very poor service. The only consolation was that the breakfast was quite good, such a shame that the evening meals on offer were such a contrast. Just to note also, that is was surprised that guests were allowed to smoke at breakfast . We have stayed in many 5*hotels and this is definitely not 5*standard in our opinion. The hotel was deserted in the evenings, lack of entertainment (apart from the occasional singer in the evenings) nothing for the younger or even middle aged. The only option in the evenings would be to take taxi into Marbella. The staff on reception were very unwelcoming, and never as much as said goodbye on our departure! On the plus side of our holiday was taking a taxi into Marbella,I would highly recommend the Catamaran boat trip from the port in Marbella to Puerto Benus, on this same day we ate out because we dreaded going back to the hotel to face the evening meal on offer and the dull environment. Conclusion: Definately not for a young family or younger people. Ideal for those who want an isolated get away from it all holiday, although not if you appreciate fine dining. The beach is very good. Not for those who appreciate 5* standards.

We stayed for 4 nights after a cruise, nice hotel but a little isolated it is situated in a residential area so no local shops close although we did find a Lidl in the end. Staff did seem generally inexperienced especially in the restaurant, quite off, food quite good though. There two beach bars which are okay approximately 5 mins walk. We had a lovely garden room very private but air conditioning switched off at midnight.

Good to be back at this great hotel Excellent location and very friendly staff who always make you feel welcome Three swimming pools with plenty of sunbeds and good pool service All bedrooms and bathrooms are well equipped and large will definitely go back again later this year

Spent 5days relaxing in the lush surroundings of this beautiful hotel to celebrate my birthday The last time I visited was 5 years ago and it was still as lovely. Very welcoming with friendly staff , beautiful rooms , great entertainment and loved the way they bought the bottle out when I ordered a gin and tonic oh yes The breakfast buffet was wide ranging and when we asked for smoked salmon which they didn't have,they made sure they had some for us the very next day and each day of our stay. The buffet dinners which we had on a couple of days were very good. Love the Spanish classes cocktail classes taught by Marta she was very energetic. I will definitely return

Beautiful hotel in a perfect location. We stayed here a week ago and it was our 6th time staying at the hotel - we really love it! Staff are fantastic, always friendly and helpful. Rooms are a good size, make sure you get a sea view. We stay half board, breakfast is good, lots of variety. Lunch is a la carte, again very good food! We haven't had dinner in the hotel but have heard it is not great although I cannot comment on this. We dine out at Puerto Banus every night which is about 20 minutes in a taxi. The gardens in the hotel are gorgeous and there are 3 big pools. I can't fault the hotel - hence why we have been back 6 times!
