I wanted a clean place to simply sleep and feel safe. I was 100% satisfied. The bedding was fresh and there was no lasting odors in the room or hotel.Comment of W. LECOLION , United States the 2016-03-15
"Suitable and Decent"
We took an early flight into Boston and arrived at the hotel around 10AM. To our surprise the room was ready and we were able to check in immediately. That was a really nice touch! We had a room with a large balcony that overlooked the water. That was a great feature! The room itself was ok, nothing special. The property as a whole felt a little dated but was not in bad condition. The bathroom supplies (shampoo, conditioner, etc) were definitely on the cheap side. So, if you are picky about that be sure to bring your own. We requested extra coffee for the in-room coffee maker, extra shampoo and we needed the batteries changed in our smoke detector because it was beeping every few minutes. It took 2 phone calls to get this accomplished so I would say the service was just ok. The breakfast buffet is a little lean, especially for over $20 each, but the omelet bar was good. ***The big revelation for us was the pool! We put on our suits, grabbed a glass of wine from the bar and headed in search of the pool for some sun and relaxation. We eventually found the pool on the top floor... inside... at the fitness center. Apparently, in Boston the pool is for exercise and not for lounging around while catching some rays. Live and learn!
"Mediocre at best"
I stayed with my wife for the week. We found the rooms a bit dated. They also put us near like the elevator and it was always noisey outside. A better seal on the door could rectify that. Shuttle is great at driving you to the 4 stops however very unreliable when picking you up. They left us stranded several times.
"Comfortable and Quiet"
This hotel has an interesting architectural style with an open atrium and many rooms with oversized balconies. Our room overlooked the Charles River and we had nice views of Boston. It was also conveniently located for nice walks to Harvard, MIT and Boston University. Our only complaint was about the practice of raising the rates for graduation weeks. It is hard to get a room and then to pay double really stings.
"I was not impressed"
The room had a loud banging through the walls that lasted all through the night and during the entire stay. The internet was terrible the entire stay. So much so, I finally just stayed disconnected and used all my data. The shuttle service (or lack tevreof) was, by far, the worst experience of the hotel. Since the hotel was not close to the train, we had to rely on the shuttle service to get us to and from the closet stop. Every time we called for the shuttle they would tell us 10-15 minutes. We waited on three separate occasions for well over an hour, including one that was an hour and a half. We called back to see what the hold up was and got no explanation. We were just told he would be there "soon." On those three occasions we gave up and took an Uber to the hotel. For $300 a night, plus $40 a day to park, I expected a much better experience and better service. I would never stay at this particular Hyatt again. It left more than a lot to be desired.
"Hotel Needs An Update"
The hotel is in a great location and provides a shuttle to 4 different places in Cambridge. The hotel, however, is dated and needs a facelift. The elevators took at least 5 minutes before arriving. The bathroom in my room was moldy and needs to be gutted.
