"Out of town closed to the olympic park"
Ask for a room in the 5 Floor with a view of the bird's nest. The illuminations at night are fabullous. The Hotel has all necessities to enjoy yourself. The hotel bar is perfect spot to meet people. The rooms are spaciuos. Breakfast is a real treat.
"Love the Club IntetContinental"
Stay at this hotel almost 2 months this year, love the Club InterContinental as the place to meet the business partners and friends. Thanks to all staff, especially Ms Molly, you are the only one I see all year around!
"Good for conference centre on business "
Joined to cncc, so very useful for confererences. 50 mins ride from capital airport. Hotel limo service want about £90, but a regular taxi costs about £15....You can get ‘a nice’ taxi for 200yen (£25). On check in I received a small room upgrade for my Spire member level, but NO lounge access which is poor. Room very comfortable with nice large bed, clean linens and towels. Decent working area with large room safe and good strong WiFi. towels and WiFi. The room was too hot though, and thermostat didn’t work very well, and you could not open any windows. Breakfast choices are amazing with many hot and cold options....you would struggle NOT to find something you would like. Overall a nice stay, but would probably use crowne plaza next time due to no lounge access here.
"Not the prettiest Intercontinental but in a great location!"
Stayed here for one night before joining our packaged tour group. I'm glad that I stayed in this hotel as the hotel that the tour company selected for us was just next door. Spire Ambassador membership was acknowledged and was upgraded to a club room. This was not the prettiest Intercontinental I have stayed in but the location was incredible - within the Olympic Park with amazing views at night - overlooking the Beijing National Stadium, also known as the Bird's Nest and the Water Cube or the Beijing National Aquatics Centre. The room was very spacious and the bed was comfortable as always. Sad part was leaving the hotel because the hotel that our tour company picked was not as good. Another fantastic stay with Intercontinental! A side note.. yes, the room was very hot because the thermostat cannot be adjusted but this is very typical of Beijing hotels during winter months.
"Convenient hotel (emphasis on "hot") with good restaurants"
Good points: - Walkway to convention center. - Nice public spaces. - Good service (room cleaned almost instantly when I left it). - Nice rooms, bathroom and bedding. - Most classy hotels in China that I've stayed at have several large restaurants that both are and deserve to be empty (really over-priced and nasty food). Both restaurants *here*, on the other hand, (Italian and Chinese) are reasonably priced ($50 per person with wine) and so good they should be destinations for miles around. Weirdly they are also cavernous and empty, too. Oh well. Fair points: - Almost everyone complains about the AC. So it would be like complaining about the Maple Leafs, what's the point. But I really don't get it. Although it was late October, in the afternoon sun my room got up to 28C, and never got much below 23C even at night. Is this some sort of law in Beijing that the AC has to be turned off by a certain date' If so that's kinda dumb. What I read in the other reviews' responses sounds like "dogs & homework". Anyway, my window *did* open and keep the room manageable at night. Beijing drivers use their horn more often than they breathe, so you'll get woken up at 7. BTW if you open your window and think you can't close it, try opening it to the fullest and pulling it back. My friend got confused about that, so maybe this'll be helpful. If it isn't, sorry for telling you how to chew. - Really minor beef here, but my bill says that I agreed to have my total converted to USD and charged. Well, I never got offered that and never did and never would (my credit card gets a better deal), so watch out for this. It probably cost me $20 or $40, so no big deal. - Remember, no one (even a local) drinks the water. It would be nice if the hotel supplied a few free bottles per day, other hotels I'm familiar with do. Anyway, if you go buy water, go for spring water. The "purified" water is quite safe, but doesn't taste especially nice. Poor points: -None. I just put this in for balance. It's a good hotel, you'll enjoy it. BTW, if you walk past the convention center and go over the traffic-free street, you'll find a nice mall that has (I think) good restaurants. Actually just keep walking that direction and you'll find lotsa good restaurants.
