"Isn't as good as you would expect.... :-("
Well, when you usually think about an intercontinental hotel you have high expectations, unfortunately on this case, real life is quite different. Certainly the hotel is modern and the rooms are quite good, nothing to complain on this subject. But when you get into the food business is quite disappointing especially the breakfast ... The breads are bad, you have a variety of sweets but they feel like you bought them at a cheap bakery next door... All in all is a good option, quite far from the city center, if you overlook this item...
"Very pleasent stay"
The InterContinental Mendoza is a very good hotel, with all the comfort you expect from a hotel of its category. The pool and the gym are good, as well as the restaurant and bar. The only points that I will underline are that it is a bit far from downtown, and that they only have two elevators which can be annoying during busy hours such as breakfast.
"Spending 20 nights at the Intercontinental"
We stayed at the Intercontinental for a 5 day conference. The service was good, rooms clean, staff friendly. A surprise was that at an international hotel like that staff spoke only poor English. One of the exceptions was the one booking the tours and he was very helpful. As we live a vegan lifestyle we requested soya milk. This seems not easily available and we didn't find it in the shops but they managed to get some which was quite tasty. The rest of the time we had oatmeal for brekky and plenty of fresh fruit which was provided. Worth mentioning is the gym and the 20m pool - all was well kept. Looking over the city (9th floor) and into the Andes during the rising sun is just price less. Annoying was the noise from the close by highway. Wifi was slow and a bit unpredictable. If possible choose a room with view over the city and look towards the Andes. It will be hot during the summer, though. Seems the aircon works quite well, though. In summary, we enjoyed our stay and would go there again.
"Very poorly managed hotel"
Concierge is on holidays for a month. Apparently the chef isn't but should be. A badly cooked steak in Argentina is quite an accomplishment! The hotel is opposite a 10 pin bowling ally and popular shopping centre which may hold attraction for some. It is miles from anywhere a visitor to this city full of attractions might like to be. Transport to the city required a visit to the shopping centre and pot luck with the taxis. I guess if their real customers are the people who organise conferences, they don't need to concern themselves with their guests. This has been evident since we checked in. The food and beverage manager tried to make amends for the bad food and we got a full refund and a plate of fruit and a bottle of wine - a fine effort in context but the food is still poor quality and people on the floor don't seem empowered to do much about it. Discovering how to book tours a standard feature of most hotels in Mendoza proved too challenging for this hotel. We stayed in a suite with a fabulous view of the Andes and while spacious is probably in need of a refit. The staff seem to have trouble finding the higher floors as towel replacement , coffee replacement , turn down service and cleaning the bath seemed to be random acts that only occur on occasions. We did receive a turn down service but only on the fourth night. The staff at breakfast don't seem to be happy to be here either. It is possible to get an egg freshly cooked but they do this without grace. As a general observation this seems to be exceptionally poorly run and lead hotel in a city full of very professional tourism operators. Not sure why the Hotel Intercontinental is still comfortable associated their brand with this place. I wouldn't be.
"Very good choice for a business travel"
Very nice hotel and very helpful staff. Location is very convenient if you travel for business since you have a shopping mall across the street when you have little free time. You will be 20 minutes away from downtown (depending on the time of the day). Recommended. Special mention to Daniel for giving us directions and recommendations to take advantage of our free time.
