"Nice hotel but needs better air-conditioning in the rooms"
This is a large convention hotel that has the advantage of being connected to the COEX Convention Center so if you are attending a meeting there, you will not have to go outside to get to COEX. We stayed in a corner suite with executive club privileges. The room was a bit disappointing. Even though it was a suite, the living area contained no work area of any kind. There was no desk or higher table where you could work. The area only had 4 chairs and a coffee table which was too low to work on comfortably. There was also limited storage space in the room. The closet was small and almost half of it contained the safe such that you could not hang long clothes like dresses in that area. There was limited counter space in the bathroom. For a suite, there really was a lack of areas to place your belongings. The room and bathroom had adequate lighting which was appreciated. The biggest negative to the room was the lack of air conditioning. No matter how low the thermostat was set, the coolest we could get the room was 23 C. We contacted the front desk to try and remedy this and a gentleman was sent to our room right away but he confirmed that the room was centrally controlled and would not get any cooler. This was a huge negative for us as it was difficult to sleep as the room was warm and stuffy. The sitting area was a bit better as there was an overhead air conditioner in that room but we still would have preferred to lower the temperature. The Executive Lounge on the second floor was very nice. It is a large room that always had sufficient seating when we visited. There is a good selection of items at breakfast and they have a menu of items that can be cooked to order (eggs, French toast) at no additional charge. There is tea service in the afternoon and a good selection of food during the happy hour. All drinks were self-serve and complimentary until 8pm. We stayed 5 nights and wish there had been a bit more variation in the food served in the evening but overall it was very good. There didn’t seem like there was much to do in the area surrounding the hotel, however, you are near metro stops so you can get around the city. This hotel could easily rate 5 stars if they could get the air conditioning issues worked out and if they upgraded their rooms a bit to provide more work space and more vanity space in the bathroom. Also, it would be very helpful if the gym could open by 5am or better yet, have 24 hour access. We had to be at early meetings so we were never able to use the gym as it opened too late.
"High quality hotel"
As you would expect from an Intercontinental this hotel is top notch. Friendly staff and well designed hotel facilities. I stayed in a Club room but from what I saw of the rest of the hotel the high standards are throughout. I was out most days and so did not eat often but the meals I did have were excellent.
"Great choice in Gagnam"
Stayed a couple of days at this hotel last year, and was very happy with both the size of the room, quality of the bed and the room service. Also the restaurants on the first floor was very helpful with my allergies. I will stay here again Also big shopping mall in the basement
"this is not a 5 star hotel"
5 star hotel should pay attention to details. my room was opened, when I came back at 10:00 pm. TV remote controls didn't work properly. 30% of light controls didn't work. At the end by neglected staff my card was blocked and they charged for my stay 2 credit cards. This is a good hotel, but if you are 5 star hotel traveler don't go there.
"A Good Hardware can Not be a Good One without a good software"
There was an incident that caused me very incovenient time and wasted 1 and a half hour just within 2 hours after checkin to this hotel. The Duty Manager on duty on 19th August at 19:20hrs has invited me to the desk of guest relationship. He wants to offer me a breakfast on Sunday 20th August morning with restrictions: Breakfast at the Club Lounge but must be started from early morning 6:30hrs. A smile was returned to him to explain to him if it is so hard for him, I do not want to take this offer. Perhaps, he does not know that this kind of offer as a good will from the hotel is equal to a kind of humiliation according to our culture. He was spoke with the polite words but none of his body language can be sensed that he is polite, not even found a single smile from him. I am sorry for the hotel as well as my stay. Let's look for other hotel in Seoul during my next visit. A good hardware can not be a good one without a good software!
