"Let's Ruin The Big Weekend"
This is an ok hotel for work, although locked fire doors mean I would never stay again. If you are on your own, if you don't want to be with friends ok, but if you want to stay as an extended family then just avoid, COMPLETELY We have 8 rooms booked for a wedding, with 16 people. Not only can we not order drinks for people in 8 rooms, told all 8 rooms had to go to the bar, but when we finally did get seated outside the bar staff locked all the doors to the terrace including fire doors Any hotel that locks fire doors is a dangerous hotel and as such I will never stay Marriott again Plus , IHG provide free WIFI which you don't get in Marriott
my husband had booked 2 nights at this hotel for our wedding. We were booked into an executive suite which was large and spacious. Then bed was huge and we had a separate sitting area with a large, spacious bathroom too. I believe my husband had asked for flowers to be kept in the room for me on arrival, however these may have been unavailable and so we were given strawberries with dipping chocolate and 2 bottle of non alcoholic drink. The bed was nicely decorated with rose petals and the towels had been shaped into swan hearts. It was lovely!
"great customer service!"
My friend and I checked in and our allocated room was very close to the Dlr railway so we asked to move rooms. We were told that the hotel was close to full capacity but they would try to find us a room. We went to the Take That concert and when we returned to the hotel we had been moved to a lovely quiet room! A lovely note came under the door from Isabel wishing us a good sleep and saying she hoped we enjoyed the concert! We thought it was a very lovely sweet gesture!
"Perfect hotel for wedding night"
I stayed in this hotel with my wife for our wedding night in August 2014. We booked a suite and is probably one of the best hotel rooms we've ever stayed in. The facilities were amazing and the bathroom was huge! The suite had a separate lounge area to relax and try the staff had provided some chocolate covered strawberries and a nice welcome note to celebrate our wedding. Really made a big difference. The breakfast in the restaurant downstairs was delightful and overall the staff were very helpful.
"Last minute booking"
We had dinner booked through Grub Club at a very unusual venue, Billingsgate. It was a BYOB, so I'd picked a couple of lovely bottles and decided I wasn't driving home. Anyway, as a last minute booking, I found a deal at this place. As others have said, the hotel rooms are a little tired and could do with a bit of a refit, but that aside, everything else was spot on. So here's the step by step...... Check-in We were greeted by the jolly doorman who had our bags out of the boot (trunk if you're American) before I'd even turned the car off! He whisked us in and introduced us to the chap at reception who took over. I asked for a snazzy view and within 5 minutes he'd upgraded us to a room with a great view for nothing! The room Yeah, it's a bit tiered and there are one or two questionable stains but it's massive and the bed is huge. The bathroom was spotless and fully equipped. The bar Like most hotel bars, it had that 'airport lounge' feel to it, but the choice was great and the bar staff more than willing to accommodate. Breakfast Not bad....the whole thing was a buffet style and generally it was ok. Not the best quality of ingredients and not the widest selection, but it was ok. Overall There's no car park, so you'll have to use the public one across the road. It's no more than 25 paces away, so no biggie, but there is no valet parking. The entire staff, through the whole hotel is clearly there to help and nothing is too much trouble. It's a good venue and generally a nice place to be. It's not central enough if you want to head into the West End but if your heading out to the east, then it's a good place to stay. I'm starting to Instagram all the places I review soon, so if you want to follow, I'm at MelM01. Please feel free to ask any questions. Cheers
