"Mathew - Marriott West India Quay"
I just wanted to write a quick note regarding my experience at the Marriott West India Quay in London. Having just spent two weeks away from home on business, it was great to see Mathew and the team again. I travel a lot, and have stayed at a lot of hotels, but this experience in London was fantastic. Mathew was dynamite, every evening/every day greeting me by my first name and ensuring whatever I needed was taken care of - a true top notch client experience. I will be back in London soon, and will certainly be back to stay at West India Quay because of Mathew. This is the hotel to stay at when in London.
"Financial Area Hotel Stay Close to the Restaurants!"
Great location as its close to many restaurants and pharmacy, gym and walking distance to any of the financial buildings. Hotel breakfast on main floor with nice selection, hot and cold. Hotel rooms comfortable clean and quiet. Executive lounge is quiet and relaxing. Close to train station also.
"A lovely hotel overlooking the river"
We have stayed twice in the last couple of years and each time had a lovely stay. The rooms are very comfortable and the staff are extremely helpful. Great central location for access to restaurants and transport.
"Best hotel in canary wharf area"
I was delighted that there was indeed a modern, functional decently priced business hotel in London, albeit a bit to the east. Rooms with good views. Lovely surroundings. Walking distance to anything in canary wharf. Although the Marriot rewards system was broken and it did not register my platinum status, check in staff DENISA, was very professional and called in ROLF SMELTEKOP, Manager who did a lovely service recovery and kept checking to see that I was well taken care of. The service levels were very high in the restaurants and SAM at the Conceirge was very patient with guests and always with a smile. There was this really silly lady RAMUNE in the 7floor executive lounge who was clearly very selective as to who she wanted to be nice to. She too could not find my platinum status on her system and told me to leave the lounge when clearly my key gave me access already. Even after the clarification she was pretty rude and curt. The next day she ignored me while I walked past her sitting by the door, and I turned around and told her “i think you should be in another profession, certainly not service.” I then watched her interacting with white customers just fine and then realised I was in the colonial era all over again. But then otherwise, the rest of the staff more than made up for her. My room had a bathtub which was lovely. And little things done by the staff for Halloween spoke a lot about the place. Best
"Pretty average for the price."
This is a modern hotel in the heart of the Docklands district. The staff are friendly and the breakfast is very nice. Where the hotel falls short is the bath has a curtain which for a modern hotel is rather strange. The WiFi is slow, the food in the bar (I had a chicken curry) was really poor with gristle and fat in the chicken and a cold naan bread. Also, attention to detail, there was a card from the hotel thanking someone for a repeat visit but that was not me. Clearly you pay for the location and if you want to stay really local to your meeting, fine but otherwise, you can do better.
