"All round v good"
Not stayed here previously and just back from 4-5 day break. Impressive all around really. Good food, good location, polite staff and great facilities. Eating and drinking in Dubai is inherently expensive - especially the latter, at circa £8-10/pint. If you can accept this then you shouldn't go wrong here. If a UAE virgin, the essential tip is to utilise the Duty Free BEFORE you exit the baggage hall. Stock up on some cans of beer and some wine etc. - there is a reasonable limit to taking into the country. The fridge in the room can be used and then you can chill out on the balcony before dining. Back to the hotel. There were 3 of us, room was sufficiently large with a bathtub that can accommodate 2 easily. A/C is good and wifi excellent. In fact wifi is excellent everywhere, inc. the beach. Pool is large, plenty of loungers outside and the beach is next to the pool. The spa was a surprise which gave free access to a gym, indoor heated pool, sauna, steam room and 'snow room' - the latter are separate male and female. Can i think of a negative....putting cost to one side (that would be a bit unfair) - urmmm... location whilst good and quiet is a bit of a haul to the mainland as you have to travel around the palm - can take circa 10-15mins. There is a free shuttle bus to Wild Wadi, Madinat and Emirates Mall which goes about every 2 hours. Half board deal was good - plenty of restaurant choice, at hotel and off site. Just need to pay for drinks bill.
"Great hotel but food and drinks prices left a sour taste"
Let me start by saying how incredible this hotel is, the room and lobby were stunning and the pool and beach areas clean and bigger than expected. The pool and beach were great but in my opinion were not as good as the Sofitel the Palm hotel due to the view their beach gives. This was offset by the complimentary drinks and lollies though which is lovely touch. The room was large and beautifully decorated, the bed and pillows were extremely comfortable and the balcony was great for late afternoon relaxation. All staff were brilliant throughout our stay. We had half board dine-around which was out of this world. There was almost too much choice and 3 course options were brilliant at all the restaurants we went to. All restaurants we went to were great (Imperium, Lalezar, Amala, La Veranda, Tortuga, Noodle House Dubai Mall), with a special shout-out to Amala which topped the charts in our opinion. Complimentary shuttle was useful but we only used a couple of times (waterpark and to mina a salam for dinner) as it's only every 2 hours. It's far round the palm but doesn't take too long to get places (15 mins to other Jumeirah hotels - c. AED35 for taxi, and half an hour to dubai mall - c. AED70 for taxi each way). We went off the palm almost every day and found it to be no bother at all and taxis are cheap and all very good. The biggest negative was the cost of food and drinks at Plaj (beach/pool bar). It's always expensive in Dubai but the cost here is twice what you would expect. For example, two sodas and a main between us cost c. AED200 which is an expensive lunch! The other negative was the connecting doors as this caused a lot noise to come through from the guests next door. I'd suggest the hotel puts sound proofing in these and/or gets rid of a lot of these rooms as it is not what you would expect from a 5* hotel. All said, this is a great hotel and I'd recommend a visit, but unless you want to rack up the bills, you need to go half board and I'd suggest a visit to a supermarket (i.e. Waitrose) to pick up snacks for your lunches!
Be careful!! We paid for upgrade so we could get Palm island view what we actually got was a superior room with no view whatsoever!! When we challenged them even with the confirmed we were told they don’t actually have the base room that we upgraded from .... who are they trying to fool or mislead' - some people may even say this is cheating- disgusted by our treatment on this matter!! We definitely would not recommend this place on its integrity, unhelpfulness and disrespect to its paying guests. Unsure what they base their 5 stars on, food average, drinks overpriced however the lower level staff work very hard and are very pleasant.
The experience was amazing at JZS, and the SPA experience was another story, don't miss that if you plan for your anniversary or similar occasion. The beach was a real escape and of course the beach activities was various
It was amazing. All in all, it was perfect. The private beach, the restaurants and the hotel itself it top class. I would like to highlight Mr. Manson / Mitra in the restaurant Lalezar. We had been there several times. From greeting to serving, he has rendered perfect service like never before. We, my wife and I will say thank you very much for embellishing the stay.
