After the hurricane Irma our home was left without electricity and flooded for which we decided to leave to this hotel. As we arrived the whole staff was very attentive and helpful but found that the price was being inflated not to mention that the room was in bad conditions. As we attempted questioned this we crossed path with the manager John Zuniga who was extremely aggressive since he approached us. first of all we are VIP member of the Marriot hotels and have a long history of stays. I don't understand how someone with those manner can be in charge of such a hotel. Horrible experience!
"Very nice stay"

"NEVER. Mediocre AC- customer service "
Summary- best part After arriving from dinner at 11pm we noticed that the a/c was not working and that the room was humid. We called 5 times and were told every time that someone was coming to check. By 2:00am desperate of heat we requested to be moved to a working room. The pipes were making very loud noises and leaking a lot of water too. We where told the hotel was old and in need of repairs by staff members. NO KIDDING... the hotel main areas smell and has very poor a/c. Summary- worse part. After leaving the hotel at 11am trying to find other accommodations for our second night back in miami after driving for days to evacuate our home in Florida from hurricane Irma and days back with horrendous traffic Since it was such a horrible night here We requested at 4pm to please allow us to check out without charge for the second night and they refused. Hundreds of people are looking for accommodations since we were hit with this awful storm; But they refused to help us. We left early because there was no food or proper services and they will still want to charge us when all hotels in the entire state were allowing people to cancel anytime and being extremely accommodating. SHAME on you JW Marriott Brickell. We tried for hours to resolved this issue with the manager and he will not cooperate. Later I called the front desk and ask about my room and they had the nerve to tell me that the room Had been vacated. I asked if they were going to charge me for the night and they confirmed there will. So I asked why was my room vacated if I had not checked out... the girl on the phone was speechless and said Bea aide there is no one in the room because they had sensors.... really '''!!!! If you told me I was greeting charged and I told you them I would keep the room how is that evacuated'''' Scammers, opportunistic. We are in the heart of the hurricane hit area and I'm treated the worse from all the hotels My family had to evacuate too. No wonder why the hotel is so mediocre. I hope my over 20,000 tripadvisor readers read this.... no wonder why miami has such a bad reputation. I'll think twice when I have to book another Gala in miami.
"Uninspiring, smelly rooms"
Relatively old hotel, feels a bit grubby. Stayed with my family. Our room was dark and smelt like a wet dog. Has minimal facilities: bar restaurant only. Food is limited, bar food, expensive for what it is. Valet parking is very expensive - you can probably self-park in the garage next door or opposite for much less. Area is nice but is a business district, a long way from tourist centre. Starbucks a couple of blocks away the only salvation. Fine is you are on business, I guess, but otherwise to be avoided.
"Rude front desk people and strange affluence"
So my experience in this hotel was horrible. I arrived with my wife and 2 little kids at 23:30. One friend that arrived early did the reservation and told me that was just ask in front desk the key to my room... wrong!!! After arrived was like a big nightmare. 2 ladies (1 had the name Josefine) with unfriendly face didnt do nothing to help me. Saying that my friend didnt have a reservation and was not in that hotel. I gave all the information first name, last name from him and his wife... they again saying that there is no reservation under that names... my 2 kids were crying ... but they didnt care. I tried several times to call my friend but at 12:30 he was sleeping without sound on the phone. But God in heaven heard my kids and waked up my friend... he came down and after give his room number the amazing ladies noticed that they putted only the inicial of last name and off.course they didn't do a search by first name because I gave to them. So after 1 hour i could go sleep. In the morning I went down to front desk to speak with manager... off course that he didnt act only heard and said sorry... amazing Manager. In my hour waiting I noticed that hotel had strange affluence. A lot of 'girls' on duty on this hotel... so also very disappoint hotel. People are the face of one company... how can be possible have people like that face to face to customers'' Regarding the hotel, I can't evaluate this hotel as a 5 stars. Old and nothing special. I would say 3.5 starts.
