"JW Marriott was very comfortable and quiet yet within walking distance of restaurants and shopping."
JW Marriott was very comfortable and quiet yet within walking distance of restaurants and shopping. The room was very clean and overlooked the city and I could see a portion of the bridge. The hotel bar offered varied dishes and wines.
"Great stay for 3 nights"
All the hotel staff was very helpful and even after a slight miss on a dinner in Level III we were very satisfied with this hotel. The concierge lounge open 24 hours was a big plus for us since we seemed to be in a mystery time zone, not our own & not California's... The beds may have been too comfortable or maybe we were too tired but fell asleep a couple of nights while sitting on the bed fully clothed, just to wake up at 3am... yep to the concierge lounge for a coffee. A good and convenient location to start off each day of exploring, wifi worked, room was quiet just wish we had a small fridge for some of our leftovers but we got by.
"Cocooning to recover from long trip"
We love this hotel, and find it very comfy and welcoming. Our room had a beautiful city view, staff were most friendly and helpful, and the room was clean and nicely appointed. We like that the concierge lounge is always available, so we are able to have a cappuccino on a whim.
"3 nights in San Francisco"
Just spend 3 wonderful nights in San Fran. I would have given the hotel a 5 rating, but they were going under renovations. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Room was quiet, clean, and comfortable. Location of hotel was great. Close to financial district and walking distance to China town or several Cable car routes...Powell and California. We walked to Fisherman's wharf from the hotel, about 1.5 miles. Taxi to the airport was $55 (plus tip). If you are arriving by cruise ship, taxi is about $18 (plus tip). Cozy bar just off the lobby on the 3rd floor.
"First Impressions Matter"
My husband and I recently visited San Francisco for the first time on vacation. We pulled into the hotel and the five people standing at the valet desk turned around to see who had arrived. They immediately proceeded to turn back and continue their conversation. They ignored my husband and I until I physically got out of the car and asked them to take our car. And to make things worse, they charge $75 a night for that type of service! The hotel is currently undergoing renovations...which is great because it is horribly outdated and dingy. However, they placed only a single floor buffer between my husband and I and the renovations so there were certain times of the day that the ceiling vibrated and we had to yell at each other to converse (it sounded like they were using a jackhammer right over our room). Throughout our stay we also found several pieces of easter candy under various surfaces in our room (and easter was a month ago) so I can only imagine how thoroughly they actually clean the rooms. Luckily, we used points for the visit. I couldn't imagine forking over $200 a night to stay there...plus the valet fee. Hopefully these new renovations will allow them to return to the quality I would have expected from a JW Marriott.
