"Under Renovation "
The hotel is currently under renovation and it’s loud and dusty. The new rooms are lovely but the bar/reception has no soul or atmosphere whatsoever. The executive lounge doesn’t do food at weekends and the fridges for drinks were bare..... nothing to write home about
"Great Service, Good location, Comfortable Rooms"
I've stayed hear a few times in the past and most recently in September 2017 to the sound of annoying jackhammers that could be heard in the daytime only from my room. The hotel is undergoing some needed upgrading.I've stayed here earlier this year for about two weeks in March and though it was wonderful. If you're a Gold member, you'll find the lounge on the 21st top floor excellent for breakfast and evening hors d'oeuvres and drinks. This is one of my favorite hotels to lodge in when doing business in San Francisco. Much nicer, much more intimate and quiet than the nearby Hilton.
"Great hot and location"
Great hotel in a good location. I'm a Bay Area native and chose to stayed a night here to attend a wedding. The location was perfect as it is walking distance to Market St and Union Square where all the shopping is located. I love the service provided by the hotel - the front desk staff is really helpful and they had sangria available during check in...score!! We got a regular room, but it seemed like an upgrade because the room was huge with an amazingly spacious bathroom. If I needed to stay in the City for any occasion - I'll definitely chose JW Marriott without a doubt.
"Beautiful newly renovated rooms and great service."
This was our first experience with the JW line of Marriott hotels. We have stayed at everything from the Springhill suites to the regular Marriott to the Residence Inn hotels in the Marriott family. I must say we were very impressed. The new renovated rooms are tastefully done with dark woods in the bedroom and white marble (maybe marble-like), modern bathrooms. It must take a lot of work, as we heard plenty of jackhammering and the like during the day. We were warned ahead and knew what to expect. As far as service, it was top notch. We had a problem with getting an espresso and cappuccino. Two hotel personnel appeared promptly, one of them the manager, and arrived with our coffees with additional treats we had not ordered. When I couldn't get the printer to work for some boarding passes, the desk person offered me the computer and printer at the front desk. We were very impressed with the service and speed of it. My only complaint, and it is minor, is that the tub in the bathroom was pretty obviously left over from the previous room furnishings. It was a pale pink, which was a dead give away. This however is nothing that would stop us from staying here in the future I look forward to it.
"Nice hotel, rough during renovation"
I have had the pleasure of staying at this JW Marriott multiple times through the years. They are currently renovating the rooms and expect to be doing so through December 2017. There is significant construction noise between the hours of 9 AM and 5 PM. With that said, the renovated rooms are exceptional. They have a very modern look & feel with nice amenities like plugs and USB charging ports everywhere. While the renovations are in progress, my room did not have a refrigerator installed, however they allow you to request one and will bring one if you want it. The showers are a bit finicky, taking a while for the temperature to change once you turn the handle. In addition you have to press extra hard on some of the elevator buttons as they will not engage unless you do so. The Marriott executive lounge on the 21st floor is nice, serving a full hot breakfast each morning. And the service is what you would expect from a JW Marriott, exceptional. So as long as you go in with the understanding that they are in the process of renovating through December 2017, generally speaking this is an exceptional property in a great location in San Francisco.
