"Centrally located ..not too expensive"
The building looks a bit old and overall the rooms could do with an upgrade to maintain Le Meridien standards. The view from my room of the waterfront n AD skyline was fabulous. The breakfast buffet had a lot of variety and so did the restaurant behind during the evening with music et al.. The map next door mall was an added bonus ..overall the room tariff was value for money ...had no complaints
"Birthday weekend disappointment"
Well upon arriving, the hotel from outside is not much visually interesting or appealing. The concierge service needs some fine tuning and attitude adjustments. Front desk was friendly. Suite was not ready with unmade beds and dirty towels on the bathroom floor. Was upgraded by the assistant manager Mr Chandra to a so called "Club Suite", which to is just an average room in equivalent to a 2 star suite at an average hotel. Disgusting room service treatment. The only positive is the front desk and restaurant management as for the restaurant staff, they seem to be confused by their actual duty and role they have to play. Wouldn't recommend this particular Le Meridien to anyone.
"Oh dear Starwood, what a let down. "
I stayed one night at this hotel and I was pleased when it was time to check out. Check in took forever as there was only one person on the desk until finally someone else arrived. The room. Well it was like stepping back into the 80's but this wasn't the main issue. 1) The furniture was old tired and damaged 2) I tried to make a coffee and the kettle boiled to the point that the actual kettle was boiling to touch and I hurt my fingers. The only way to poor the water was to hold it with a bathroom towel. 3) Plug sockets did not work so the only ones that did were for the lamps which I had unplug and sit in semi darkness. 4) The balcony furniture was cheap and damaged and the top of the table was full of cigarette marks all over it. 5) The noise, oh dear the walls were paper thin so I could hear the guy next door talking on the phone. This wasn't the worst. The worst was the other family with a small shield that woke up around 3am screaming and then again at 5am. I decided by 7 to get up and check out. This hotel unfortunately will not be on my list of recommendations and definitely not on my list to stay again. Oh dear Starwood group, what a let down.
An old hotel in a good location - waterfront with a Mall next door. The rooms are badly in need of an upgrade. Staff do not appear happy to serve and we found service lacking. Parking and checkin is difficult due to staff shortage. Rooms are old fashioned (design and furniture). The Club Lounge is a disgrace. Spa and pool are pretty good. Nice restaurant and ambience in the central area.
"Good Value and Good Location"
Le Meridien is an older style hotel at very reasonable prices. The staff were very friendly and we were made to feel very welcome. As a Starwood member we got an upgraded room with a great view which was a nice bonus. The hotel has a reasonable sized pool and nice grounds although we didn't go to the beach area. If you want good value for money and a good location in Abu Dhabi I would recommend Le Meridian.
