"Large veranda room with quasi outdoor bathroom- cosy resort feel"
It's not your traditional hotel with a main big building, elevators and corridors with rooms running off it. My friend and I each had our own veranda room which you had to walk up stairs to get to after walking along paths and spying tempting glistening swimming pools (more on that later) and finally a narrow cobbled path just to get to our room. You definitely need to be able bodied and not fat as there are not shortcuts or wider paths to get to the rooms we were allocated! Our rooms were spacious with a generous private outdoor sitting area, large bedroom with daybed and writing desk. The bathroom was semi outdoors with the shower, large square bathtub and toilet 'outside' though covered and private whilst the twin basins were inside. There is a french colonial look/theme to the rooms/hotel. The buffet breakfast was fairly standard with nothing to rave about but was served in the main restaurant overlooking the swimming pool. There is only one swimming pool you can use if you are in a 'regular/standard' room which is the main pool by the beach/restaurant. Unless you specifically book a room with the shared swimming pool, then you can use the pool by your room. This part was confusing as to get to the room I was allocated I walked past 3 swimming pools which I thought I could use only to be told they were only for the rooms with direct pool access.
We stayed in december 2013. Resort is smaller than in picture and unfortunately it was raining all 3 nights. But we enjoyed our stay. Best part was lighting paper lanterns every evening. We stayed in the villa with a plunge pool and we didn't like the outdoor bathroom a lot. Lighting needs to be better.
This hotel is gorgeous, upon walking in you feel like you're in an episode of Spartacus at the house of Batiatus. Very old roman feel, the beach and infinity pool are a gorgeous addition, especially beautiful to look at when having their delicious breakfast. I would NOT suggest ordering food after breakfast there, the tuna salad was pretty much just bagged lettuce. The staff was TOP NOTCH. They bend over backwards for you here, especially Touch and Ping! Whenever I come back to Koh Samui, I'll be definitely staying here. PS: no droning, might be a dealbreaker.
"Great Get Away"
I'm someone who when I got on vacation I want quite, peace and serienity. I want to be able to read a good book, listen to music and look out and see clear blue water. If you are looking for the same this IS your hotel. The hotel is well maintained, clean and quite. We stayed 8 days and the staff were more than accommodating. They pride themselves on knowing their guest by name and are very friendly.
"Gorgeous, peaceful, excellent service!"
This is my first time at this resort, I usually stay at the W or Vana Belle when I visit Koh Samui. I have to say, I made the right choice! 1. Service and excellent attention to details. The GM, Sawanee, is very friendly and approachable and very helpful! 2. It is a very serene, zen resort built around Chinese Feng shui, exactly what I needed after a long and exhausting business trip. 3. Staff here are very helpful and accommodating as much as they can including modifying food to cater to one's diet need. 4. Food is freshly prepared and great seafood! 5. One note for improvement: staff still need to improve on their English conversation skill. 6. Highly recommend this resort if you want a peaceful and relaxing trip. It is also close to the vibrant W hotel, so it's easy to get a transport there and enjoy some live DJ music and change of scenery.
