"Excellent Front Desk Manager Virost!"
Had so much difficulty with an Uber driver who didnt seem to able to find his wag. Virost stepped in to offer his personal hp to call the driver on behalf. He attempted twice to explain. We gave up in the end. Booked another uber and he came and check in with us if all was good... awesome and. Extremely hospitable, thanks Virost Ikelap!
"A good start as new SPG member"
Given that I'm gonna ditch Radisson/Club Carlson program next year, I accepted the challenge from Starwood to fast track to Gold after 9 stays. I never stayed with Marriott/Starwood before since I'm normally with Hilton and Club Carlson. I therefore decided to give this hotel a try due to its cheap rate (70 EUR a night) and I can confirm it was a good decision. The hotel was actually sharing the twin property with Hilton Kuala Lumpur in front of KL Sentral station. Indeed, they also share wellness activities such as gym and swimming pool. During the stay the FO gave me a small upgrade to Premier room, which I didn't expect to have. I didn't try the breakfast because the food courts in KLCC has too many options to try and I opted out for having a meal somewhere else instead. I quite liked the stay and the staffs were friendly too.
This is my first & will not be my last stay in Le Meridien Hotel. Newly renovated rooms, well appointed room and great service from the doorman, conciercge, front reception & restaurant service crew. Love that the rooms had ready plugs for direct handphone charging. I think I saw 3 in total. Power plugs, unlimited. They even provide paper cups in the room, if you wish to have your tea or coffee on the go. These little amenities to me makes a big difference. I have visited hotels all over & am really pleased with the room, service staff at all levels. I saw the beautiful pool and gym but unfortunately unable to try as I only stayed 1 night. Food spread for dinner & breakfast is insanely good and of quality. Great variety & I could not try all the food & drinks available. Will definitely come again. Stayed in room 2758 & 2760. Sad to leave but yup all good things must come to an end....😀
"Well renovated hotel, good location"
The Le Meridien KL hotel was refurbished a few years ago and it is beautiful. Located at KL Sentral station, very central and convenient. 5 years ago, I hated my stay in this hotel because the rooms were old and they were using shower curtains. The one in my room was so smelly, it made the bath room stink. I had a horrible 5 day stay. My recent trip, I was apprehensive to stay here as I usually stay at Hilton which is right next to Le Meridien. The facelift improved the hotel lobby look and the rooms are now worlds apart from what I previously experienced. The rooms are well decorated, modern and the bathrooms are beautiful, no more shower curtains. Its so nice now, I would choose to stay at Le Meridien instead of my usual choice of Hilton. Well Done Le Meridien!!
"Great location, great staff!"
The Le Meridien Kuala Lumpur is in a great location, just across the street from the KL Sentral Station. Conveniently close to the KLIA airport express, other transportation options such as rail, komuter lines, and monorail and also near large shopping mall. SPG Platinum recognition is pretty good here with Platinum check in done in the upstairs Club Lounge. Additional Platinum benefits include room upgrades based on availability. Club Lounge access and breakfast in the main restaurant for Platinum member and registered guest are other benefits. The Club Lounge has amazing views and the evening appetizers are very good. We didn't try the Club Lounge breakfast though, as we had breakfast in the main restaurant, Latest Recipe. Ms. Charlotte Lim, Guest Experience Manager, did a great job in keeping us informed and was always so helpful and pleasant! Unfortunately, as the hotel was full there weren't any suites available for upgrade. However, Ms. Lim kindly upgraded us to a corner "Premier" room which was greatly appreciated. The Le Meridien recently went through some remodeling and renovations and they did a really great job as the decor, furnishings, colors, etc. are very nice and pleasant. The decor is modern, light, minimalist, clean lines. Latest Recipe is the hotel's main restaurant where they serve a fantastic breakfast buffet with many different food stations including the usual egg station, waffles, crepes, Asian/Chinese/Malaysian choices, Japanese noodles and some sushi rolls, Asian noodle station, Indian foods, fresh fruit, yogurt, smoothies, juices, and assorted breads, pastries, muffins. We also saw one of the restaurant staff preparing and pouring tea for the next table in a really interesting way, pouring it between two large pots from several feet apart! And without spilling it! After he was done we asked him what it was and he said it was the hotel's signature tea drink and he would prepare it for us. I took video of Mr. Syairazi Jamil preparing our tea and it was fun to watch him pouring the tea back and forth between the two pots! Unfortunately I'm unable to post the video here on TA because of the file size limitations but will try to post it on on a video site to see. Service from Mr. Syairazi and other restaurant staff was also excellent with constant attentions to replenishing food, clearing plates and checking to make sure if we needed anything else. With the hotel's convenient location, we were easily able to use the train line to visit the Batu Caves on one afternoon and also the Malaysian Motor show on another day. Note - if you use Uber or some other car ride apps, many of the drivers are not familiar with how to get to the Le Meridien (or Hilton)'s main front lobby. There are signs, so just have the driver use their gps maps and then follow the Le Meridien direction signs which looks like you're going into the parking garage and you end up passing the Hilton's circle/drive way and then come up and turn into the Le Meridien's circle/drive way and lobby entrance. Speaking of Uber, beware of drivers who say (at the end of the drive) that Uber authorizes the driver to charge you to pay him an additional amount for extra luggage. We were switching hotels and had an Uber driver who pulled this stunt; since we had used Malaysia Uber only a few times and weren't sure if he was correct, we paid the extra charge in cash that the driver demanded since it was a small amount. We contacted Uber afterwards and Uber said that they do not authorize this and the driver was lying, so they credited us the amount. Although the amount this driver cheated was small, it's the principle and just upsetting that the driver would cheat customers; he's probably doing this to other customers and will continue until caught, so report these bad drivers so that Uber will discipline or suspend these cheating drivers. Remember though that not all drivers are like this - our other Uber drivers here in Malaysia were great, helpful with excellent driving and attitude, so try to be a good passenger/customer! We had a great stay at the Le Meridien. The issue with the bad Uber driver is separate and not a problem or fault with Le Meridien - we just wrote about that so others will be aware of these bad drivers. So, with the excellent service from Ms. Lim and the rest of the Le Meridien Kuala Lumpur staff, nice rooms and facilities, and convenient location to other transportation services, we'd highly recommend staying and will return here on our future trips to Kuala Lumpur!
