"Huge hotel with excellent service"
Stayed two nights. Excellent service. Great breakfast with many options. Egg station, noodle station. Big rooms which are quiet, well designed, very good beds and pillows. Nice mini bar with general prices between 30-50 rmb. At an early departure you can request a breakfast box with a yogurt, apple, croissant, muffin, water. Nice! Light switches are a bit complicated. For the hall light, in room 1109, the switch is on the far side of the bed on the wall. Had to look for it. Taxi general costs 110-150 rmb to airport and takes in the early morning 30min and during rush hour 1 hour. Irish bar next door is cosy, molly malone. Close to forbidden palace. Badalung great wall about 2 hours.
Had a wonderful stay here as part of a holiday group. Located in the heart of Beijing it is a very imposing structure and has a very grand entrance foyer. Bedroom had everything one would expect - bathroom was large and well finished. 2 bottles of water delivered to room each day. Breakfast was great - large choice with Chef at egg counter ready to prepare omelettes etc to your liking. Dinner was also great with a great range of western and Chinese foods to choose from. Desserts were great. 5* well deserved
"A Jewel in Beijing!"
My wife and I spent four days at the elegant Legendale Hotel on our first trip to China. To say this hotel is beautiful would be something of an understatement. This remarkable hotel is truly over the top! Its presentation is more of an opulent European grand hotel with a neo-classical ambiance than a hotel with an imperial flavour. With fine appointments, rich fabrics, antiques and artwork everywhere, we felt more like we were in a grand palace than a hotel. The hotel itself could be a tourist attraction with its breathtaking 17-story atrium. We stayed on the 16th floor and were guests of the Noble Club which features private breakfasts and health club access among other amenities. I felt the hotel was very reasonably priced for the value and beautiful surroundings, and we were treated like royalty by the staff. From the hotel it’s an easy walk to Beijing's world-class shopping precincts such as Wangfujing and Oriental Plaza. Also, many significant landmarks and historical sites are nearby including Tiananmen Square, the Forbidden City, and the Hutongs. I was surprised that many of the staff spoke practically no English and even the Concierge Desk was sometimes difficult to communicate with. I later learned that, with the exception of Shanghai, not many people in China speak English. If you're on a strict budget, you can find more reasonably priced places to stay, but if you can afford to splurge, upgrade your room to a suite and live it up! You won't regret it!
"Stayed here with the travel Department"
Stayed here as part of a group from Ireland called the travel Department. Our stay was a tale of two stories, for the first couple of days off our stay the hotel had a large security presence due to a summit been on in the city. Been honest due to this some of the staff made our group feel very unwelcomed. With one American lady working for the hotel been over heard apologising to people for our presence in the hotel. I found this very disappointing & disrespectful. The food for the days of this summit was also pretty poor. Once the summit had ended the food improved but was only ever average to be honest. Found the food in the buffet would go cold quickly as the plates weren't warm. (Might think of investing in a plate warmer) The room itself was prefect, very comfy beds. The hotel offers a pool, which is not heated. But offers jacuzzi's which were a far rather enjoyable experience. But are single sex. Overall good location, but staff need to improve to take it up to the standard of a 5 star hotel that we would be use to in Europe.
