One of the great hotels in California. Service was impeccable, the room was large and immaculate and the staff was friendly and helpful. We had a garden view room and it was large with a generous balcony. Also, very dog friendly! The garden has several grass areas for your pup to explore (on leash).
"Stunning views, the ultimate space to relax and renew"
I have been the to Lodge a handful of times and it never disappoints. I love the views, the craftsman lodge and the smell of the ocean air. Lodging If you can, ask for an outward facing room. Once we got an internal courtyard room and we were not as excited. You should have a balcony (so ask) and so bring your wine and an opener. Food and Beverage Breakfast near the golf course has some of the best pouched eggs in the world. And of course the five star dining is spectacular. Attire Bring a light jacket in the summer time as it is overcast in the morning and nights can get a bit chilly. I've never been there in the winter, but probably a bit colder. Service The service is fantastic! Spa The spa was a great experience - I got one of the packages and it was worth every penny. Golf I don't golf, but hey this is a championship course so you will love it. It's a public course so there are ways to get in without staying there. But, you probably know more than me if you golf.
"Craftsman Style in one of the most beautiful locations in the world"
Luxury, grace, and charm abound in this lovely hotel. Rooms are large, bathrooms slightly dated, food and beverage services are excellent, wonderful entrance and lobby, and location, location, location. La Jolla is truly beautiful, property sits next to a golf course of note, and just steps away is a remarkable hiking and wild park with access to the beach. Just marvelous.
"It is worth it if you play golf"
Me and my husband stayed there on fathers day. - Because of that from the restaurant told us that there is no way to have breakfast outdoors, because the terrace is fully booked by walk-ins. So if you visit on a holiday, make sure to make a reservation for breakfast/lunch/dinner if you want to have it outside (where the best view is). - We hanged out around the pool pretty often. The service around it was terribly slow, but the drinks were fine and quite big. Gratuity is included in your bill. - You can have a hike, there are a lot of trails around, but all of them are easy. Great if you go with children. - Wear sunscreen! - The parking is about $36 additional dollars to your stay. - The SPA was good, the massages were not exceptional, though. - The gym was fully equipped, but a bit grim. - The bed was so comfortable! - Exceptional breakfast! I feel that if you play golf, it is totally worth the price, but if not, there are other options out there. Good luck.
"As close to Fantastic as it gets"
We spent a night at the Lodge on a package deal that included tickets to a Broadway-bound play. The Lodge architecture alone will keep you enthralled for some time. Think a cozier version of the Lodge at Yosemite - with two world-class golf courses - at the Pacific Ocean 20 minutes north of San Diego, CA. Two restaurants; a 5-Diamond rated formal restaurant and The Grill; less fancy but with excellent, friendly service, great food and wine selections. The rooms are large, comfortable, with superb amenities. Didn't try the Spa, but the pool is nice and the hot tub has an ocean view..
