I generally like Loews in other cities so decided to stay there on a vacation to NYC. Abdul at the front desk checked us in and was wonderful. The room was fine. Basically what you would expect. That is where the compliments end. The staff at the restaurant is awful. We had TERRIBLE experiences with the bar tender, manager, and a waitress that were all on unrelated issues on different days. We kept trying to give them another chance since we had a food credit, but the service kept getting worse that we just said to heck with the credit. We can’t eat there anymore and ruin our vacation. When you have that many bad things happening, it is not just a bad day by one person. It is systemic. To top it off, the person who cleaned my room was messing around with my laptop and damaged it. I never expected a room cleaner to try to surf the internet on my computer when I was out of the room ... This is an invasion of privacy that I would never expect at any hotel. And I didn’t even get an apology. Awful experience. Don’t stay here
"Love this place"
Great location and very nice hotel. Flagship stores just a walk away such as Barney’s etc. I’d stay here again. Clean and bed was amazing. Thanks for the warm welcome and the very enjoyable stay great
"Wonderful small hotel experience in NYC"
We recently returned from a wonderful stay at the Loews Regency in mid-town Manhattan. The rooms have been updated and the bar/lobby area is really fantastic. The best part of the Loews is the staff, many of whom have been working there for years. They are all very welcoming and helpful. In particular, the front desk is manned by several employees that have been at the Loews for a long time. Rosina has worked the front desk for decades and is always kind, helpful and has a big smile to welcome the guests. The Loews makes you feel like special, even while visiting a big city
"Very far from my expectations"
It is disputable for me if this hotel deserves 5 stars. 1) Room description in their website is not accurate for the grand room. However they solved it very good upgrading us. That was very appreciated. 2) the check was a complete mess and took us nearly 2 hours to solve it with the risk of losing our flight. Very easy things that generate a lot of stress to the customer. They split wrongly the checks that should be split into 3 families. Complete disaster. In the end we had to go not very sure if the balance was done properly. 3) Don’t feel they take care of the details, for example, when you get down the elevator, you see the housekeeping room opened because they leave the door open, giving a sense of dirty ness. 4) bar and restaurant really expensive for the hotel category (for example, wines 3 to 4 times their commercial value) and personnel with bad attitude or at best, lack of service attitude. For those reasons we are not coming back. It is a shame since our previous experiences on the Loews at Miami and Denver were great.
Great hotel at great location! Just around the corner from the park, the museums, Bloomingdales, Lincoln Center, everything a short walk away. A special mention should be made of the quality of sleep- best hotel bed I've ever slept in! The staff is very efficient, the rooms are clean and the service meets the expectations of the most demanding customer. The bar and restaurant next to the lobby have a lively atmosphere day and night. They seem to be a meeting point for hotel residents as well as locals. I had the impression that many people around were returning guests and that says something about a place. The coffee shop around the corner that belongs to the hotel has the most wonderful pastries and very good coffee. All the above come at a price but this is the Upper East side after all. It's definitely worth it and I would recommend it for anyone who enjoys the small (and grand) luxuries a good hotel has to offer.
