Sehr schönes zentral gelegenes Hotel - neu renoviert. Nette Bar... Gegessen haben wir immer auswärts.Comment of P. We had a wonderful experience at the Loews Regency. The location is perfect, two blocks from the Central Park and near lots of good shops and restaurants. The hotel staff is extremely kind and corteous; they really make you feel welcome.Comment of C. ELIANA , Brazil the 2014-04-27
"Gorgeous Hotel, Good Stay with Some Glitches"
My new husband and I are native NY'ers who now live in NJ. We got married this past weekend and didn't have time to take a long vacation now so we opted to stay in NYC for to enjoy a couple of nights of relaxation, fine dining and shows. We knew the Loews Regency had a very good reputation and the rates for a suite were within our budget. We booked one of the Terrace Suites. Check in was easy, friendly and professional, however, we later learned that several key pieces of information were not given to us, such as how to use our room key to unlock the elevator to get to our room. We overheard several other guests say the same thing. The Terrace Suite is probably the nicest hotel room either of us have been in. They originally told us we'd be on the 15th floor but, were given the 18th floor. The rooms are huge, well appointed and comfortable. Window treatments are electronically controlled, 2 large flat screen tv's, a small kitchen with a microwave and small refrigerator (although with nothing in it, not even a cup, so we weren't able to utilize it). Furnishings are classical with a modern flair. Impeccably clean and tidy upon arrival. We were given a bottle of Prosecco and a tray of French macaroons upon arrival - a nice touch. A/C worked very well but on nice days you can open all windows to let in the breeze The bathroom is stunning and has a great feature I've never seen before - a tv built into the mirror. Shower is enormous although if short as I am, difficult to reach the shower head to make adjustments and switch over to the hand held device. Everything was provided from blow dryer to shampoo/conditioner. Good sized towels although somewhat stiff to the touch. The bathroom could use another hook or two for wet towel. The hotel is billed as "green" but there isn't anywhere to air out 2 sets of towels to dry between uses negating the possibility of reusing them to save water. Be aware there is no exhaust fan which means it takes a while to clear the room of the humidity. Living room is massive by NY standards. It has a fold-out sofa, lots of seating, a dining table and lots of storage between closets and furniture. One thing that was problematic is the glass end tables stick out much further than the curved arms of the sofa so every time I sat down, my elbow would knock into the table. Also, the cushions on the sofa kept sliding forward which was pretty annoying as we had to continuously stand up to re-adjust them, Bedroom was as large as the living room and leads out to a full size, wrap-around terrace with plenty of seating and tables, What a wonderful feature this is. We spent a lot of time out there, having our breakfast watching the city unfold around us. Bed linens and comforter are very high quality although we would have appreciated some firmer pillows; down isn't very comfortable for either of us. We need more support. Even though Park Avenue is a busy street it was blissfully quiet in the room. Now the not so good. Room service is chaotic, confused and does not listen to instructions given. For such a high class hotel, it's unfortunate that we had to experience so many problems with room service. The first night, we ate in the room and that went fine. But breakfast both mornings was a comedy of errors. The first morning, my husband's waffle was missing a key ingredient - the strawberries to top it. Also, food arrived barely warm. I'm no fan of eating cold eggs. Salt was left off the tray and not enough cream was given to us. We both ordered V8 and were given plain tomato juice instead which we didn't drink. We also got 3 phone calls from room service which clearly were meant for another rooms delivery problems. I think I had to make 3-4 phone calls to get all of this straightened out including talking to the food service manager. Not a great way to start a day of vacation. This morning, I specifically told them not to toast my bagel, which they did. Also, the jam platter had a dismal assortment of flavors; orange marmalade, apricot and blueberry - none of which thrilled my husband who prefers strawberry or grape jam. The blueberry was the best of the lot but, when he opened the jar it clearly had already been opened before! Half of it was missing, in a pattern which suggested someone else's knife had dipped into it. Once again, had to call and asked for the manager directly but he/she never picked up. Half an hour later, we are sent another bagel, untoasted and a new platter of jam but, we had already eaten. We were never told that they were sending these items up. Keep in mind if you remove items from the fridge or snack drawer, they will automatically know you did that and charge for the items. While we did have a soda, water and popcorn from the honor bar we did not have the chocolates or gummy bears notated on our invoice. I'm writing this before complete check out so I'm hoping these charges will be reimbursed to us. The location is a bit out of the way to easily take advantage of the subway system. There is no station near the hotel which means either you'll be walking long distances or, catching cabs to get around. As already mentioned, we knew this before arriving since we both know the city well and it wasn't an issue for us personally, we just cabbed it, but could be a problem for some. Last, internet/wi-fi really isn't as good as it should be. We had the premium package which says it's good for up to 8 devices for all types of usage, including streaming. We found it slower than expected and difficult to connect up to. We had to place calls to their tech support to get it all figured out and we're both tech kind of people. Overall it was a nice, relaxing stay and made us both remember how much we enjoyed living in NYC. However, honestly I'm not sure I'd come back since we both count on using room service (again, not a lot of amenities nearby - even the closest drugstore is a bit of a walk) and were so dissatisfied with the way they kept screwing up. When one is paying so much money for such beautiful, luxurious accommodations it's unfortunate that the food service department can't get themselves together to be able to give the Loews Regency an "Excellent" rating.
"Great location. Service hit and miss. "
Stayed here for five days while my boyfriend attended a conference. Great location for shopping, sight seeing and dining! The bar was hopping every night. The Spa was amazing - best pedicure I've ever had. Noor incorporated a lovely foot massage. The fitness centre is also well equipped. The concierge was extremely helpful. The hotel fell down on room service, however. They got our order wrong and it took two tries and an extra hour to correct it. Of course our food was cold by that point. We were told our breakfast would be comped as an apology - but it wasn't. Overall, this was a positive experience, but the food, both at the bar and room service, was only "adequate". Also, the bar did not have Heineken or Stella, which i found strange. Likely won't stay here again, though may visit the bar for a drink or the spa.
"Great alternative place to stay in New York"
I was very pleasantly surprised with the Loews Regency. Recently renovated, the hotel is a confortable alternative. Rooms are spacious, hotel very well located in mid town, the restaurant is a popular place for breakfast. Service is good and it is moderately priced.
The Regency was well located within walking distances to many of the places I needed to visit. Room service was quick and efficient. Well organized and proactive staff. I felt safe and was even walked several blocks by an employee to ensure I was comfortable to where I needed to go.
"A Regent of Hotels"
I recently stayed at the Loews in New York, this was the first time I have been back to this particular hotel since 2002, so things have changed, completely redone. First off the staff is there to make your stay the best the can, everyone greets you from housekeeping in the hallways to everytime you come through the door, I found them sincere and wanting to make the stay amazing. The rooms are great, ( bathroom a little small, but workable) I stayed in a luxery King. New York is a noisy city, no earplugs needed, the rooms were well made, quite, never heard the street or my neighbor, that gets 5 stars alone. I also ready for this had a balony looking over 61st, very nice The bar is hoping and the food is very good and service amazing at the restaraunt, going to be my go too hotel in New York when working from Mid-town, loved it.
