"Great place to say"
Difficult to criticise as everything was spot on. Just make sure you ask for a quiet room as there was a lot of noise from the street by way of rubbish collection etc. Can't blame the hotel for that. Breakfast was really good and the hotel location was ideal for theatres and sightseeing
We’ve stayed at this hotel on 2 occasions and have enjoyed both visits. The location is great being only a 15 minute walk from Euston station and a short walk to an excellent selection of very good restaurants. Covent Garden, the theatre district and Oxford Street are all within easy walking distance. The rooms are nicely decorated and relatively spacious for a city centre hotel. On the slight downside, street noise at night is hard to avoid anywhere in London and the Rathbone is no exception.
Well worth booking, it is not totally polished( the tiles in our bathroom didn't match in places and in the toilets there had been an attempted cover up of a previous leak). Don't be put off, the staff went above and beyond to help. One girl ran to a local restaurant to try and get a table as they couldn't get through on the phone, the guy on the door ran around the block to get us a taxi, nothing was too much trouble for them. As for the hotels position, it was far enough away from the traffic to be quiet in the evenings but 10 minutes walk from the playhouses, regent street, tube stations, all the things you visit London for. Enjoy
"Needs an update"
This hotel really needs an update and some TLC. My single room was dated and worn and had a weird smell to it. Like it was next to a kitchen or something. The bathroom was the smallest I´ve ever seen. Absolutely no room for toiletries and nowhere to hang the towels to dry. The towels were a decent size though. Useless space in the shower for shampoo bottles. It was to high up and crooked. Also no room for big bottles. The bed was uncomfortable and I could feel the springs and I could also hear them creak when I moved and turned in the bed. It would be a good idea to lose the big mirror opposite the bed and put the tv on the wall instead of on the desk. It would provide more space. The lobby was nice and in a totally different style than my room which was a real let down. Positives EXCELLENT LOCATION! good air condition Negatives horrendous charge for wifi no make up mirror in bathroom really slow elevator luggage rack to small, didn't fit my big suitcase unhygienic headboard no fridge
We had an excellent stay here for my husband's birthday celebration. The hotel gave us a free upgrade, placed a personal card in the room wishing my husband a happy birthday and then sent a free chocolate dessert up to our room upon arrival, complete with a lit candle. All of which I had not arranged I simple indicated it was his birthday when I made the booking. Comfortable bed, very clean and the staff were very friendly and helpful.
