"One of the worst hotel i ever stayed in Shanghai"
This is probably one of the worst hotel i ever stayed in Shanghai, been to Shanghai almost 60times and tried many hotels... 1) Front office/Lobby a) Taxi arrive hotel - No one helping for luggage(Concierge only cares to sent off guest whom going to the 50kms away Pudong airport, which taxi charge is huge and they gets commission). b) Off many times i stayed/checked into this hotel, i really want to know if the front office personnel ever smile in their life' Or just not happy over the work here' c) Securities always stand in the middle of lobby and do peoples watching(let say scanning'''), i always felt like i am a thief here even i dressed in biz attire. 2) Room a) A/C - Switch on heater gets cool air; switch on cooling room super warm(I stayed here many times) b) insufficient amenities like shower gel or coffee powder, sometimes not refilling. c) Teared off towers(i found them in non star rated hotel but i dont complaint as i was paying RMB 100/night) of all the complaints above, i have already bear in mind that their room price is reasonable, and i am not paying for a 3stars asking for a 5stars service(while they just not worth 5stars). Many more to tell...
"Very good hotel"
I have been here 2 weeks while visiting our local office in Shanghai; while the hotel look quite nice, the devil is in the details. Yes the facility are nice and quite new, the room was nice and elegant, the gym and pool were excellent. The service is were I could perceive a sign of decadence, not all staff can speak English, I mean bar waiter and concierge people should ( in my opinion) have a basic English knowledge, as well as restaurant personnel, and this was not the case. Breakfast buffet is sufficient but definitely not to a 5 hotel standard, often the food is finished and it remain void, coffee is hard to get with only one small machine delivering half decent coffee. Anyway if you are passing a weekend or few days as tourist you probably won't notice; after 2 weeks I can clearly see the weak points. Overall comfortable stay.
"Good reasonably priced hotel with good gym"
The Longmont is in a nice area but not the best for a tourist. Rooms are spacious but walls are thin so hope for quiet neighbours. I've stayed here twice (last time was 8 years ago) nothing much has changed, it's clean, a few parts of the decor show wear but they still function, lousy minibar, awful Illi coffee on the ground floor & expensive restaurants on the 2nd & 3rd floors. Breakfast is a huge buffet from sausage and egg, fruit breads and odd looking local stuff that was super popular. I liked the gym & pool area, huge compared to most hotel gyms around the world. There's a quite a few places to eat outside the hotel even a Subway :( so it's not a desert. The 7th to the 25th floor are all offices so there's a nice busy local feel to this mammoth hotel. All the staff speak at least some English.
"Good quality, not in a tourist location"
Stayed three night for a conference. Room 3225. Don't think that there's anything touristy of interest in the vicinity, but there are some shops and restaurants on Pingwu Road behind the hotel. About 15 minutes walk from Jiangtong University (Line 10) and Jiangsu Road (Line 2 and 11). Large modern room, well equipped. Minibar was locked, but I wasn't concerned anyway. Electric socket with various foreign options, although none next to bed. Very good bed and pillows. Unfathomable light switches. Good free wifi. Good airco. Quiet. Big bathroom and bath. No shampoo, strangely. Don't know what it cost because somebody else paid.
Outstanding breakfast buffet eggs every way you can imagine, noodles, meat buns, bread pudding, waffles, rice to raw fish. Great little market with good prices on the hotel circle entry drive. Great staff and very clean. Large room and bath tub and separate shower You will have to look but there is a safe and mini bar. A lot of switches..the one over toilet turns on light over the bed. Little too much flash over function with rolling glass walls around the bathroom. Nice stay over all.
