We stayed at the lopesan at the end of September and from the moment we arrived we had the best time. The entrance to the hotel is breath taking and the whole hotel is so clean and tidy! All the staff are friendly and attentive and the food at the buffet restaurant and the snack bar was so tasty ☺ We never struggled to get a sunbed, even going down at dinner time there was still plenty of places! I would definitely recommend this hotel, we will be returning!
Me and my boyfriend stayed at this hotel for a week, and everything was amazing. The service and the staff was amazing, the dinnerbuffet they had was amazing, the pools, the entrance, the area, the drinks was just amazing. It was different kinds of entertaining every night (not everything was that great, but worth a visit) and the breakfast was nice with fresh omelettes, eggs and pancakes. The only thing that I may can say something "bad" about is that the staff locked they self in our hotelroom three times a day to check the minibar, clean the sheets and so on, this was a little bit annoying. And we wish it was a pool for only adults, since it was 7 pool at the hotel and not the most relaxing places.. We really recommend this place, and we will probably come back again!
We've stayed at this hotel twice. We stayed in March and absolutely loved it. The hotel is spectacular! Love the African theme and design. Feels like real luxury and for what i thought was a pretty reasonable price. Hotel is well maintained, very clean. The grounds are beautiful. Loads of exotic plants and wildlife (we loved watching the rose ringed parakeets). The food is amazing! Definitely the best buffet food i've ever had at a hotel. Had a really nice relaxing time. Didn't want leave and couldn't wait to come back. We went again in early October. Again the hotel was amazing. Couldn't fault it. Unfortunately though they seemed to be at capacity this time. It was so busy! Not a huge issue in the restaurant or to get loungers by the pool. There were plenty. The main issue was the amount of smokers and the amount of unruly kids! there were kids everywhere! I like to eat outside but you just couldn't as a non smoker because you'd be eating in a cloud of smoke but inside you'd be surrounded by screaming kids. Kids were jumping and screaming by the pool too which made it difficult to relax. We also found out that the rooms aren't that sound proofed either. Neighbours were very noisy and inconsiderate. Tv on in the early hours of the morning, there was a child that would scream like clockwork at 4am (suppose there isn't much that can be done about that though) and the people upstairs seemed to be constantly re-arranging their furniture night and day. I would go back here, definitely, but i will not be going in October again. It was way more expensive and much less enjoyable. I'll probably try and find out their quietest time and go then. I wanted to give them 5 out of 5 but because of the lack of sound proofing i've given 4. The hotel can't help the fact some of their guests are inconsiderate but I do wonder if maybe they could locate families with children together so the couples who want a bit of peace and quiet have a better chance of getting it.
"Good for families only! "
As a single girl who travels a lot and wanted to experience 5* luxury for a bit of a change, for what I paid, I was left disappointed. I know you probably shouldn't compare to other places and I give Lopesan baobab it's due, it is a beautiful hotel with a wonderful atmosphere and concept, but I felt that I was paying for the size and upkeep of the hotel and not for my personal experience as I have experienced MUCH better for less in other places including the other Canary Islands. I paid approx. €1300 for 2 weeks half board. Totally not worth it (that's 2 holidays!) My advice to anyone looking at this hotel would be to go as a family and go all inclusive. This is because I went with a group of friends (8 of us in total) wanting a relaxing break when actually, the place is very family oriented (couldn't quite relax surrounded by children and families) and the reason I say to go all inclusive is because you have to pay for your drinks at dinner (€2.70 for a bottle of water) and because I found myself spending a lot of money on extras at the local shop. Other things that I found let me/us down: the TV only had approx. 7 channels in English (I understand that we were in another country but just for any English only speakers who like to watch TV in the evenings etc), the rooms are not very sound proof, could hear running up and down the corridors and banging and moving of furniture in all directions (I'm partially deaf and that's saying something) the al a carte restaurant 'Akara' was maybe 100 metres from our room and we could hear the music every. single. night. It drove us mad by the end of the 2 weeks, as it's the same songs every. single. night. The al a carte restaurant was mediocre, as a huge foodie, I was not impressed and found that the buffet food was just as good if not better; was cool to try the complimentary Zebra meat on bread though! Another thing, the maps of the hotel need improvement, unless you're good at orientating yourself it's pretty easy to get confused as the maps are not very clear/ labelled. The free gym (there is also one with a fee) is terribly outdated, and the AC either doesn't or didn't work on the occasions I went. Also, watch your mini bar, they tried to charge us for water we didn't take (luckily they let it go) wondering if it was because we moved all the items and put them on top of the fridge to store our shop bought items' To summarise, yes this is a beautiful hotel, beautiful. But I didn't get the true 5* experience I expected and for what I paid' I should have got. It's unusual for someone like me to go to these hugeresorts (backpacker, can sleep under a table in a jungle, you get the gist) so I understand my opinion may not fit well with people who have stayed here and loved it. But I do know what to expect with my money, and I did not get what I expected at this hotel. I feel totally bumped. My advice before you book' If you're going as a family and have money to burn - go for it! Why not'! But if you're anything like me, do your research, branch out further and get yourself a better, more personal experience for half the price.
"A wonderful holiday loction"
This hotel was beautifully designed and totally different from any other holiday we have experienced. The gardens and pool areas are very well laid out and cover a huge area. Everything in the resort is spotlessly clean and nothing is too much bother for the friendly staff. The location is great because minutes away is a bus terminus, a shopping centre, sand dunes and beach and promenade walks. You are spoilt for choice at meal times! There are no tea/coffee making facilities in rooms but they will be made available if requested.
