This place was just amazing. From the minute you enter the property you feel welcomed. The big smile and "buenos dias" from the guy who opens the gate to let you drive in. The attention to detail when you approach the front desk. The recommendations for dining and excursions. It is all a 5 star experience. I have stayed at Los Altos on a few occasions and have stayed at their other property down the road at Jungle Vista Inn. Two completely different experiences, same first class service. This past visit we decided to begin our stay at the Jungle Vista and end it at Los Altos (saved the best for last). The day we arrived, the front desk manager who we have dealt with in the past (his name is Lenin) had already finished his shift for the day. But he came back to the property on his own time later in the day so he could personally check us into the Jungle Vista. Who does that' A few days later I learned that he waited up till 2 am (again on his own time) for guests that got lost as they traveled down the coast. He wanted to make sure that they got checked in when they arrived. Who does that'' Where I come from they would make you sleep in your car till they showed up for work the next day. All I can say is visit Manuel Antonio Costa Rica and stay at Los Altos. You'll meet some very special people in a very special place!!!
"Beautiful place, great people"
We stayed at the Jungle Vista Inn, a sister property, so I'm only reviewing the service and amenities. The staff were extremely helpful, having private beach access and service is great, the views are incredible! Staff helped us book tours and even helped us when we were lost about an hour away looking for a tour we had scheduled. Really went above and beyond to make our stay great! Pool and beach are great, just remember to bring your water shoes as the beach is quite rocky when you first enter the water.
We originally planned to stay down the street at the Jungle Vista Inn - you check in for there at the Los Altos. Wow - we were immediately impressed by the Los Altos and requested to negotiate an upgrade. I feel lucky that they agreed (it was low season). The units are HUGE and lovely. Nicely decorated with lots of excellent amenities. We did not use the pool, restaurant or beach shuttle but had we been there longer, we would have utilized these conveniences. The staff is super friendly and helpful. I highly recommend the resort and would stay there again. It's close enough to town, other restaurants, shops, etc. and of course Manual Antonio National Park is nearby.
"Great Hotel, even better staff"
Because there were 5 of us traveling together, we opted for the penthouse unit on the top floor. To say that the unit spacious enough for all of us would be an understatement. The kitchen was fully equipped, every bedroom had its own bath and balcony (with a view of the Pacific) and the master bedroom was enormous as it had been originally designed to be a luxury condominium. The hotel was in walking distance of a small commercial district that had stores and restaurants to meet every need and taste. At night, the music from the local pub was pleasant rather than a distraction. Only downside (which was not the fault of the hotel, but rather geography) was the steep incline up to the town or down to breakfast. The resort does offer regular shuttle service to their beach. We cannot say enough about the desk staff. They went out of their way to help us and were friendly and humorous to boot.
The beauty of this hotel lies within the breathtaking views and friendly staff. The condos are well appointed and spacious. The master suite - the only bedroom I used - was comfortable, air conditioned and had a tv. The additional rooms were a bit smaller but provided more than enough room to comfortably sleep four additional guests. There was a second full bathroom and a half bath in the condo as well. During my stay, I didn't plan to cook, but the kitchen was stocked with dishes, and more importantly wine glasses. Each day the staff cleaned everything and restocked all the items in the cabinets, so there's no need for chores while on vacay. However, cleaning products are provided in the kitchen. Karola's, the onsite restaurant, provides an excellent breakfast buffet, which is included in the price of your stay. There were hot and cold options, including plantains, rice and local cheeses - my favorite things. A made-to-order egg, french toast and pancake station is also available. The chef makes the best french toast - a definite must try! The hotel is adjacent to Cafe Milagros, which is an excellent choice for dinner, coffee and dessert. Lunch...not so much. Two supermarkets with wines and spirits are also within a block of the hotel, so it's fairly easy to stock your living quarters. The pool and the views from it are magnificent. There's plenty of seating and a cocktail bar to keep you "hydrated." It is the perfect place to spend or end your day after activities. There's a private beach on the property, however it's a bit small and appropriately named "Rocky Beach." The pool is your best bet for relaxation, and it's truly perfect in every way. Last but certainly not least, Oren, the general manager, is a welcoming and gracious host. He was there to answer questions and provide great suggestions. He even fulfilled my request for off menu items at the restaurant to ensure I had an authentic Costa Rican experience. I was extremely impressed! Pros: The large living space, staff, pool area, drinks, views and proximity to tourist sites Cons: The Rocky Beach, but there are others close to the property. Biezens and the national park beaches are the best. Sidebar: The food at El Avion is not as good as it once was. Sad! Stop by and take a pic in front of the plane because it's the thing to do. You can get the beautiful sunset views from the hotel without the crowd. Pura Vida!
