"GALA HOTEL - great time !!!"
We just returned from Tenerife after our 9 nights stay at the hotel in GALA in June. This is our great memory. The hotel is very close to the beach, between Los Cristianos and Costa Adeje, you can walk nice marina, which takes about 30-45mins to both directions. Return of a taxi for ex.from Adeje costs 8euros. The hotel is close to everything you need! We shared a room on the 5th floor with nice ocean and mountains, Siam Park views. We found int he room the amenity kits with slippers and dressing gowns. The room was very nice, with modern furniture in red-white-silver colors. The air conditioning works pretty well. Not very spacious but adequate for a couple. The only downside in the room for us was the sofa, which did not fit the rest (old type) and was a little "stinky". We were not keen on the bathroom door glass, but it was not a big deal. The room was kept clean like the rest of the hotel - shiny floors! Inside there are two pools, including one for kids, a games room with free WiFi which is very slow, the gym a little old but if you want to do a session and SPA. Evening entertainment was good, you could hear and dance live music, watch concerts like acrobatics, acts .The children entertainment as far we have seen was great. We remember 3 girls and one boy who looked after that. The girl who took wine tests from Italy, she was really nice :) Also stretching, step and AquaAerobic session to keep fit. Nice views from the pool. Now the food for us totaled 8.5 out of 10. It was a little crowded for dinner but you can enjoy a glass of champagne while waiting and chatting with the staff. Breakfast unfortunately a bit boring ..; But dinner was awesome !! Lots to offer, fresh fish, sea food, meat, vegetarian, wow pastas really good and tasty !! Very small - for sweets / dough, but sometimes it is better when it is less than more;) Buffet staff really friendly, we remember very warm Ivo :) The reception team turned out to be also fantastic, very politely and professionally: Garcia, Lady of Short black hair and the rest, sorry that we do not remember all the names! Overall we would be back here :) Definitely more + than-. Minus for parking 5euros per day. Thanks to you all at the GALA Hotel :) Muchos gracias :)
"Lovely hotel inside but won't return"
Stayed for 1 week for a family holiday , we have stayed in the sister hotel La Siesta down the road a bit twice before so thought Gala would be just as good. The reception staff were very rude - you normally can choose to pay your bill at the end of your stay or every few days as everything goes on your room card, I asked after the third day to pay my bill and the lady at reception was huffy and said they prefer I pay at the end- I told her no and she let me pay but still rude. Bar staff are the most unfriendly bunch and got our orders wrong a lot of times - they all seemed to be quite happy to have a chat with German guests or that of other nationality but not UK. I asked for a beer, a coke and a Malibu sprite one night and the barman got annoyed at me i told him three drinks at once! Meant to be a barman but was obviously too much for him to take in. The food is disgusting.. my partner was ill for two days after eating chicken curry.. I cut open a bit and it was pink inside so I didn't eat it. Breakfast is ok but lunch and dinner is definitely a no go !! We ate out every day for lunch and dinner so wasted money paying for half board. La Siesta is the same though so I should've expected as much. Great places for lunch are Montecarlo on the beach front just round from the hotel and La mason down near the safari centre street. Dinner I would go to the safari centre to any of the restaurants as they are all amazing and there is plenty near by to choose from. The hotel inside is lovely and clean and the pool area is great with a kids club and mini disco at night . Entertainment is quite good also depending which act is on on different nights. The music is mainly foreign though so again the hotel isn't really aimed at the British . The rooms are always cleaned well however as many would agree the glass see through door on the bathroom is the most stupid thing i've seen lol... The rooms aren't sound proofed so you can hear EVERYTHING your next door neighbours do e.g turning their tap on or moving a chair -Didn't sleep much because of this . We had a ground floor room with a small bit tiling outside but it is all one strip of garden down the whole side of the hotel so your next door neighbours are sitting right next to you with no privacy which I did not like. The television only has one channel in english and it is the world news - all other shows and kids programmes are in all other languages . The location is right at the start of the veronica's so be aware of drunk people late at night if you're on a family holiday and don't get a sea view room/pool view or you will hear music until 5am. It is very close to the beach front and you can go out a back way of the hotel for a short cut and walk across the veronica's. There are lots of bars and restaurants all around and it is about a 20 minute walk to the safari centre or 5euro for a taxi that takes 5 mins . Porto colon is close too about 5 mins in a taxi. The mini bar is 25 euros to be filled once or you pay 5 euro deposit just to make use of fridge for a week if you want to buy your own juice/drinks and you get this back at the end. The safe is 20 euros for the week and you get a separate key same as the room key- so you could probably just use this to activate it and not pay the price - worth a try ! You do not get a courtesy room on your last day which I thought was shocking !!! You get told to use the showers at the gym and have to go back and forth to your suit case to get organised as you need to be out the room at 12. If you want towels at the pool you need to use laminated token cards and pay 1.90 euro just for the day so we went out and bought our own . There is a bar outside for drinks and snacks but again they were rude as they served anyone and not who got their first - too little staff that couldn't keep up with how many people needed served. All in all the hotel is great for location, but be wary your right on the veronica's. Hotel has a lovely pool and building but I would not pay for half or full board as you will waste money and end up eating out all the time. I would not come back purely down to the noisy rooms and rude staff as they made us feel unwelcome- I will definitely go back to La Siesta next time as they cater to British also and are very friendly.
We had a lovely week staying half board. Our family room was on the bottom floor. It was spacious and very clean. We couldn't hear any noise at night. Air con in the room was great too and we had a lovely seating area outside. We weren't keen on the glass bathroom door though! Cleaners cleaned our rooms when we requested. We found all staff to be very polite and helpful from reception to the cooks. They keep the hotel extremely clean. There was plenty of variety at meal time. We would recommend this hotel to anyone (especially with children). Its in a great location with everything you need nearby.
Myself and my fiancée have just returned from an amazing all inclusive 10 night stay in hotel gala. From start to finish it was as I have said above absolutely fantastic. We were facilitated perfectly in our request when we had arrived.. perfect location with easy access to the beach and prom. The pool area was lovely and never short of beds. The kids club and entertainment team seemed like they were perfect for the job and always happy. The reception area, bar/ entertainment area and restaurant are gorgeous and you are welcomed every night in the restaurant with a glass of prosecco! The drinks for all inclusive was the best I have ever received in any hotel I have stayed in..full cocktail list at the main bar and proper pints of beer..none of the plastic glasses like other hotels which was great!! Excellent service in the restaurant, proper glass bottles of water and coke that you would usually not even get in a 5 star. There was excellent acts/ dancers/ acrobats/ singers every night which were of extremely high standard. The cleaning service was also brilliant and the room was cleaned and we had received fresh towels every day. We really did not need to leave the hotel for the ten days and to make the holiday even sweeter, I purposed on the balcony to my now fiancée. This hotel will always be a special memory for us.
