"Nice to escape winter"
We stayed at the Hotel Gala 4th- 15th January 2018. First impressions were very good as we walked into reception area, and it smelled beautiful, which is always nice. The hotel does not display an email address to contact them before hand which I like to do as requests via booking agents are usually ignored. We were given room 457 which leads off but overlooks entertainment area and at 9 at night was rockin, then as we went into room to the balcony we found we were over the front door and that was noisy too, so back to reception to sort things out. No other rooms available only upgrades to superior @ 240 euros for 11 nts and mini bar a further 25 euros........this was getting expensive and we renaged on a safe Wow my CC was getting hot !!! We were given room 602 facing Tenerife Hotel which was quiet and suited us. Lovely sunny balcony from 10 till 6 wonderful. The food we found excellent with plenty of choice breakfast & evening meal. The steaks were good as was the Lamb Chicken , Turkey and all the fish. Desserts yummy. Starters & soups were moorish . All the staff were pleasant with a cheery greeting in very department. Spotlessly clean hotel. As we had upgraded we were entitled to spa & indoor pool facilities but these were only used once as we found the pool quite dangerous. Too many things GUSHING out water causing to many bubbles which you could not escape and could not see what was under the water, and I banged my foot a few times trying to negotiate my way around, so sorry .......not for us. Not all that warm either. Room and bathroom very clean, though would have preferred some drawers as everything was in cubby holes permently on view.....bit like Benetton. There was plenty of entertainment going on in the evening though we never actually stayed in. The hotel had a policy of ....NO RESERVE OF SUNBEDS., which was not adhered too, so every morning on our way to breakfast we passed the pool area and there they were in all their glory "towels, towels, towels" on beds unocupied which is really bad manners for any nation to practice. Another thing which did not sit well was just outside the dining room there were tables and chairs...just a single line......but occupied by smokers whos smoke was wafting back into the dining room and hotel. Much too close, and that was not nice. We had 11 days, got out and about, enjoyed the food and our upgrade sunny balcony, stayed well clear of smokers corner and had a lovely holiday. Would we return '''''' jury is still out on that one
"Average hotel "
We booked this hotel based on my husband being here a few years back. Not a good as he remembered. Now part of the Alexander group. On arrival it instantly felt like all we done was get billed for everything from WiFi - mini bar fridge, towels & cushions for sun beds. Our room was nice & clean and suited us perfect. However even tho we paid for WiFi,the connection was poor and had to go our to main corridor. I’ve seen other reviews mention the noise from Veronica’s. But once sliding doors are closed we didn’t hear anything. Service wasn’t great, Paloma at the main desk was the only person to make us feel welcome. The restaurant staff were shocking, not a single smile or invited to a table. Mostly middle aged grumpy men. However did feel others got better service. Not sure if its because we had kids or didn’t order wine by the bottle''' The food was average, the only meal I enjoyed was the Mexican nite. Being half board we ended eating most meals out of the hotel. The pools were nice & lovely relaxed decking area with comfy seats. We spent our time at the kids pool for our youngest daughter. I would say it’s great for kids to the age of 5, over this there wasn’t much for the to do. The kids club were fab with my daughter, she loved painting and looting pictures and gave us a 2hrbreak. We could watch them for our sun beds. Overall I would say it’s basic standard but in a great location for all the main shops/restaurants & beach. I wouldn’t return to this hotel in future.
"No way 4* Hotel "
Well I am at the Airport writing this .stayed in Hotel Gala playa Las Americas. This Hotel is never I repeat never a 4* Hotel..Nice clean hotel .housekeeping staff very good...reception staff blase...3 Amegos who ran the terrace bar ,they thought pottering behind the counter was more important than serving guests ..I waited 5 minutes for a drink.3 behind the counter and 2 waiting to be served..We went all inclusive and felt we were told when to drink..food was very much below par ..if you wanted to use the fridge it cost 25 euro for the privilege ..No iron in the hotel..unfriendly staff in the dining area . Had a spar and half the equipment did not work..conclusion this hotel should have a rating of the most 3* would not book another hotel owned by the Alexandra group .book wisely
""Worst food ever""
On arrival we thought the area was very dirty!! When you enter hotel it is clean and decor is nice but reception staff are unbelievably rude!!No help to your room just abruptly directed from the comfort of the receptionist chair. Room was ok and cleaned everyday, when I say cleaned I mean the bed was made up and a wipe down!! Dirty towels was left behind on floor and my daughter spilt cola on her bed and it was not changed just made up !! Food, well what can I say ' Don't do it, the food was awful!! We stayed for 5 days half board and we only dined here once, terrible food !! Also they charge you for absolutely everything here, be careful of towel staff ,3 times I took my 3 towels back they only give me 2 towel cards back and if you lose your towel card you get charged 12€ so be aware !!
"Short winter break"
Arrived at hotel gala for a short break at the beginning of December. First impressions were of a very nice hotel in a decent location. The reception area was well kept and our room had the sea view we had requested. We were made aware before arriving that some major building work was being carried out beside the pool area. This in itself was no problem but some guests felt it was too noisy. We had a very enjoyable week where we used the pool every day. The only concerns we had were that the hotel did not provide bottled water which meant you had to visit the local shop to stock room with water. Water was available from the bar on a tap system. OverAll we enjoyed our stay and would be interested in seeing new pool bar when finished. Food was good and plentiful and staff were friendly. Entertainment on every night and was good.
