"Not as expected"
I stayed at the Hotel during a family trip from April 6 thru April 9. I rented a beautiful apartment at the annex building across the street since it's the recommended one for the hotel why staying in family. The apt was very spacious with 2 Bd, 2 Bth, Living Room, Full kitchen and laundry, as a first impression was amazing. However, when passing the days we felt that we were not part of the Hotel, despite that is clear that those apt had full hotel service 24X7. The towels were not replaced, and every day the clean up of the apt was done late. Everything was wrong the last day of the stay. I got out from the apt during the morning and came back at noon to drop purchases and again I realized that the apt had not been cleaned out. I call right away to the front desk and housekeeping in order to make the job. The answer was asking if I had set the clean up message at the front door, and I told them that there was not any label to hang out outside the door. Having said that, I put a message with a paper, and quit from the apt. We came back at 8 pm and very bad was the impression since I realized that the apt again had not been cleaned out and the label removed. I called right away to the front desk to express my anger and asking to send someone to make the housekeeping right away. Later, I understood that there was not housekeeping on Sat afternoon, because finally after an hour of going and comings, a girl from the front desk together with a couple of other guys came to clean up the rooms and bathrooms with my family waiting. Everything was finished around 10 pm. There are a lot of other details to tell about what happened meanwhile, that I will not describe in order to not bother the readers with this unfortunately experience. I wonder, why they offer a full service in an annexes building if they do not take care of the people staying their' I asked to talk with the manager several times during the inconvenience, however this gentleman should have been very busy, and never answered my request. Worst than that, a young lady called on behalf of him saying that he was not at the hotel at that time, but for sure will send me an apologize message later or during the days after, issue that never happened.

"Ideal for travelling with friends"
When looking for a hotel for a short trip to Barcelona, we really liked the look of the Majestic, but when we found the apartments at The Residence we were sold. Large, clean, lovely apartment in great location. Comfortably furnished. Large terrace with plenty of furniture. Enjoyed our stay very much. Only one or two problems, one a minor thing but the other a bit more of a problem. In general, much of what we would have wanted was in place, but on the one occasion we decided to do a small amount of cooking, the kitchen drawers revealed an almost complete lack of utensils. The other problem was that, while the main, en-suite bedroom was rather lovely, the second bedroom was much, much smaller, very plain and had TWIN beds, rather than a double. So much for romance :( All in all, ideal for travelling with friends, or a small family, just don't expect both bedrooms to be as nice or as large as each other.
"LACK OF ATTENTION"
We stayed in one of the apartments located in front of the hotel. Even if the apartment itself was very large and really beautiful, we were a little disappointed, especially considering the price. When we got there the rooms had not been heated and the first impression was cold and not cozy. I could also sense a light moldy smell, the smell of places not used very much. There were two bedrooms, two bathrooms, an enormous living room and a big and fully equipped kitchen, including washing and dryer machines. There was also a wonderful terrace, but unfortunately it was too cold to stay outside. Of course I'm not blaming the hotel for this!! What was missing was a king size bed, we got a queen size and for two adults it is uncomfortable so we had to split, sleeping each one with one child. The food of the room service was good, but very expensive. Consider that, being the building with the apartments separated from the hotel, we received our food inside plastic boxes and covered in aluminium foil. This was inevitable but not very attractive and not coherent with the cost. The following morning we had breakfast in the main building. The price was 37 euros each, and, again, even if the food was fresh and tasty, the general offer seemed a little poor and did not justify the cost. Last but not least. The room did not have an hair dryer (why'). I asked for one and I had to wait with my head wet for 30 minutes. I understand that I was not in the same building of the reception, but I do think it is too long. In general I noticed a lack of attention in small but important details.
"Lacking in majesty, but okay"
A friend found this place on booking.com; I checked it out and got pretty excited. The best location if you want to casually walk by Gaudi buildings, go shopping, go shopping and go shopping. The only complaint I read was about the swimming pool being tiny, but I went in winter so I thought, no problem. Oh boy. The location was fabulous and I'd say half the service was fine. They have really good people. They also have inept people. I have never had an experience where giving reception the booking.com confirmation and all our passports was not sufficient for them to find the reservation. We checked in for twenty minutes, which is bizarre in the age of computers and when we were first in line. And while most hotels now would personalize their service by getting your name right, they mixed up our names by combining the names of two guests, which made it a bit hard to sort out how to connect to the internet (which required the reservation name). My friend said the women who checked us in were trainees; that's perfectly fine if they were supervised. Well, they weren't. They were just left there asking so many unnecessary questions. Easily the worst check-in experience I had, and I've been bumped off my reservation by another hotel before! Even that was less unpleasant. For this reason, we did not book spa treatments. I just didn't want to put myself in the hands of possibly unskilled people. This may not be fair to the spa staff, but I could not understand how service at such a low level in reception could be acceptable to this hotel's management. Since we were a group of three we were placed in their residences building across the street. The frontage was just as gorgeous as the hotel but inside, the apartment was a throwback to the 90's. Old style interiors, and not in a good way. The kitchen was great (dishwasher!) and bathrooms were okay, but I have a long list of items that needed improvement. 1. Dusty couches and throw pillows (I have a dust allergy so maybe a regular person may not have been bothered by this); 2. Ugly view of the courtyard (but this type of view is normal and cannot be helped in this area; I realized this when I went to the top of La Pedrera); 3. The "Majestic Residences" manual in the room does not apply to Majestic Hotel guests who are placed in this building, so weird rules, like leaving your garbage in the hallway and being charged extra for bedroom slippers, do not apply; 4. They said they stocked our room with amenities for three persons but that was not true -- we had to ask to even up the supplies and this took quite long because we were across the street; 5. Sometimes the staff delivering the things we asked for from the hotel came in plainclothes, which is rather scary; 6. The musky toiletries will be a nightmare for women who don't want to smell like musk; and 7. Hotel transfers were more expensive than they were in Madrid. I saw another hotel three or four buildings down. I'll try that place next time to avoid the stress.
