"Nice hotel in a great location"
Overall nice hotel and friendly staff in a great location. The breakfast buffet was overpriced in my opinion, we got just as much food and tasted great at Richard Walker Pancake House and Broken Yolk Cafe for 1/2 the price and they were in walking distance.
"Grand Hyatt is a Good Choice"
Great convention hotel and also fine for leisure travel if you don’t mind the size. Convenient parking and plenty of outlets for food and beverage. Great location on the bay with fabulous views. Shopping, sightseeing and eateries very close by. We took advantage of the concierge lounge. Definitely worth the money. I highly recommend staying at the hotel if visiting San Diego.
"Excellent, high class hotel in a perfect location"
When hotels are good they apparently do things effortlessly. This is a good example. The lobby is a huge, vaulted space. There are a ton of check in desks but relatively few were staffed when we arrived (and departed) which means you may have to wait a few minutes as we did but this is minor. I imagine there are more staff on the desk at busy times. Having said that the desk staff are outstanding; friendly, fast and very helpful. We were allocated a 12th floor room in the Seaport tower. As mentioned before this hotel is vast. There are two banks of elevators and beware, one bank serves floors the lower floors, one the upper levels. It isn't an issue but the first time you may find, as we did, that you are in the wrong one which is a little embarrassing! One of the great things about this hotel (albeit one of those small touches) is that there are 6 elevators in each bank which means we never had to wait more than about 10 seconds for an elevator, on any floor. Our room was fairly standard but very fresh and clean with two queen beds and floor to ceiling windows with, in our case anyway, a great view of the inner bay. Servicing of the room was very efficient and always avoided catching us in the room even though we were in and out all the time. How top hotels do this I don't know. The beds were firm and very comfortable, the linen crisp and seemingly of a high thread count. However they do it, the beds were very comfortable indeed. We sampled one of the restaurants, actually the bar restaurant and that was good too. There is a 24 hour minimart too where you can get beverages and a range of snack foods. All of this makes for a great ambiance. All in all a delightful stay and, maybe just for this week, extremely reasonable. Really very good indeed and I would definitely stay here again
The hotel is in a great location in downtown San Diego and right on the water near the USS Midway. The hotel has plenty to offer including a rooftop bar you can watch the sunset over the bay from. You are quick ride to the zoo, Old Town and the Coronado.
