"Quality Chain Hotel w Some Drawbacks"
Room had stale, dank odor, most likely from fan/AC vent, persisted throughout despite opening of windows. Breakfast buffet outrageously priced, even for major chain...$80 for two with tip. Otherwise, nicely appointed, attentive service, convenient location to convention center and downtown.
"Extremely expensive parking (conference or to stay)"
I recently attended a 3 day conference- roughly 300-400 attendees. Decent box lunch, decent breakfast, decent snacks. However, a total 25 parking validations were provided FOR THE ENTIRE 3 DAY CONFERENCE. For the rest of us (including many San Diego locals), it was $40 per day for 5-6 hours of parking each day (or $35 per day for hotel guests). It was not peak time and we vacated the premises at around 2 pm each day (F, S, Su). Plus, the lot provided for the ridiculous price is a very poorly designed lot with almost all spaces being compact and very narrow. There was NO other validation and no discounts offered unless you ate at the hotel restaurant. I spoke with organizers of the conference, a member of the front desk (Basel), and the folks at the ACE parking booth and everyone said they could do nothing. This is unacceptable! The parking attendant mentioned that sometimes there are $11 discount rates. Why weren't these provided to attendees' On the other hand, scalping visitors who are not staying overnight is a great way for MGH to provide incentive for people to park at other venues (next to the Marriott for $10, free street parking on Sundays) and for conferences to be moved to other locales in San Diego. For an $800+ conference, it is a shame that the $120 parking could not be negotiated and discounted.
"EVerything you expect from Hyatt"
everything you can expect from Hyatt. Close to waterfront, conveniently located to the restaurant district, all amenities, comfortable beds, great view, great service, food was good, but i preferred venture out to the gaslight district.
"Too expensive to be worth it"
They fired the concierges. A very stupid thing to do. Impossible to find info about local places to go...events, restaurants, happy hours, tour info Stay at the Marriott next door. Prices of water and wine, beer in the gift shop are outrageous.
"San Diego Stay"
Great view of the harbor. Convenient to sights. Great breakfast buffet. Friendly and helpful staff. Well appointed rooms and lobby. Beautiful pool and deck area. Walking distance to Seaport Village. Looking forward to a future stay!
