Looked like a nice facility in a good location.Comment of G. Brian , United States the 2016-08-29
"Great location with nice views"
Family stayed in the signature suite with views of ocean and the pool. Nice large clean room with two bathrooms. The pool was small for the size of the hotel so it was really crowded. Check in was a breeze and even when there as a long line, it went pretty fast.
"Free fast internet "
It all started with a great check-in. Cruz was very nice and efficient. The hotel was beautiful and the room was well maintained and clean. It had a refrigerator and coffee with hot tea. Liquid creamers would have been nice instead of the powder creamers. The best part was the nice view of the bay and extremely fast Internet. I have been traveling on business for 25 years and have never had a faster internet connection at a hotel.
While not the best, this Hyatt is certainly not the worst. The location alone is one reason I would return. Another would be the staff...very professional yet very friendly. Recommending with little hesitation.
"Good walking area, transporation connections and phallic pool"
Unlike most conference hotels, the Grand Hyatt was in a good area to walk and explore. While most of my time was spent in the conference, I was able to walk to several neighborhoods in the area and then reach other areas by tram and bus. I got from the airport by taking bus 992 to the Sante Fe station and then after that it was a 5-10 minute walk. The hotel is by the water and you can walk to a CVS and a grocery store called Ralphs about 10 mins away. The room was comfy with a good bed and linens. It was clean and had a pleasant, neutral design. The mini fridge was handy as was the little single cup coffee machine. I especially liked how the shades really blocked all the light out when lowered. There was a clever nightlight in the bathroom that was just enough to see by when making a nighttime bathroom run, but not too light to keep me awake. The staff were all quite friendly and ready to assist, though none of them knew much at all about public transportation---I asked three different desk employees and they all recommended uber. The hotel has a great gym which I appreciated. Also, they have two pools, one of which is hilariously phallic when viewed from an upper floor.
"Excellent location with great views"
You could not ask for better views and a better location to enjoy the wonderful city of San Diego. I love that the hotel is also pet friendly. I have been here at least 5 times now and always enjoy my stay here. It is great to have Seaport Village just outside the door with great gift shops and restaurants around. It is an easy walk to get to the Gas Lamp district or to hop onto the convenient city train. The entrance and lobby of the hotel are beautiful and grand. I like the older murals they use to have on the ceilings than the ocean/water murals. The room service, valet and front desk were all very nice and helpful. My main disappointment is the dust in the hotel rooms. It seems like the room can be much better maintained. During two different visits in different rooms the amount of dust in the room was incredible. Everything was covered in dust within a few hours. I would wipe off the dust and it would quickly accumulate. I can see a significant amount of dust in the air. I have never been to a hotel room that dusty and it happened twice! I really hope they fix the dust problem because otherwise this hotel is a 5 star in my opinion.
