"Request a Back Facing Room"
A complimentary stay, I received a new eighth floor room. Pretty but over complicated, serious issue with Arabian children racing cars outside the front door and police sirens. Terrible night's sleep.
"Renovated room to die for"
We arrived at 4:30pm however our room was not ready. Joy at the reception desk was extremely concerned and apologetic. She offered to take me to the Bar area where more waiting guests lounged. I ordered a small snack and a glass of champagne which I never got charged for. Everyone keep on checking up on me around 6pm I was escorted to my beautifully renovated room. There was no view but everything else was fabulous. The bathroom was small with beautiful grey and white marble, no walk in shower rather a bathtub was the only drawback. Loved the Josephine linens and Harney & Sons tea selections. The next morning we received a letter from Joy, offering a complementary afternoon tea time, for which the MO in London is famous for. Breakfast buffet hat a nice selection the view of Hyde Park was amazing and having the changing of the guards ride by on horseback at 10:30am was a fantastic start to the day. All in all MO London is well worth every dime. It's a different kind of animal no other hotel chain compares to the service and knowledge they offer. We are a Fan and will be back.
They've taken what was the most beautiful, comfortable hotel in London and turned it garbage, a modern interior designer's insane nightmare. That's Mandarin Oriental for you: they've done the same with the Mark in New York, with everything they touch. DON'T WASTE THE MONEY.
"Top notch luxury Hotel, but very expensive. I wouldn't call it good value"
We have stayed there for 1 night to celebrate our wedding anniversary. The property is going through a renovation currently and some rooms are already done and some of them aren't. We were lucky to be allocated to a brand new room, probably were the first ones to stay there. the room was small as with many London hotels but was very tastefully decorated and was uber-luxurious. We were treated to some artsy chocolates and a bottle of Champagne both complimentary to celebrate our anniversary. Due to the renovations the main entrance is closed and you have to go through less than impressive corridors etc to get to the lobby/reception area. Our rate included breakfast which we managed to get to at 10:25, they were already taking the food away at 10:29 from the buffet which was a bit of a disappointment but to be fair they did supply us whatever we wanted. The food was excellent, so was the fantastic Hyde Park view from our window-side table. Overall we had a wonderful experience in this beautiful Hotel. However I must say it is not good value, the hotel is very very expensive. The Shangri-La at the Shard which we stayed in our previous couple of anniversaries is both cheaper and IMO has better rooms with amazing views from 50+ floors. PS: My overall rating says very good, but if there was a choice that said good, I would have rated it good.
"Superb hotel, excellent staff, thank you"
Wife and I were celebrating our anniversary and a birthday and stayed at Mandarin Oriental London at the start and end of a two centre holiday. The staff were excellent and the two rooms we had were superb , beyond our expectations . We had some exceptional food in the Rosebury for afternoon tea, great cocktails in the Mandarin Bar and great room service. We cannot thank Mandarin Oriental enough. They made our holiday.
