"Excellent facilities, friendly staff, great location"
We stayed one night in the Mandarin Oriental while we were passing through KL. We had arrived on a red-eye flight early in the morning before check-in time. To help us bide the time until our room could be prepared, the front desk staff gave us a complimentary pass to the hotel's breakfast buffet and then to the spa facilities, where we had access to showers, whirlpool, cold plunge pool, and wet/dry saunas, as well as a lounge where we could lay down. Our room was made ready and the hotel staff graciously allowed us to get in earlier than the "official" check-in time. After stepping off the elevator on the way to our room, we were immediately welcomed by Sattar, the room attendant for our floor. He was very friendly and encouraged us to let him know if there was anything he could do for us to further ease our stay. We encountered him a few more times; he was exceptionally friendly and accommodating. The room itself was great, as expected. So much so that we decided not to go out at night (an arriving thunderstorm also factored into this decision) and instead helped ourselves to dinner by room service. The menu, like at the breakfast buffet, had something for everyone – a thoughtful blend of eastern and western dishes: Chinese, Indian, and most notably some Malaysian specialties. (I would personally recommend the Nasi Goreng.) Beds were comfortable and the location proved to be especially convenient as we had time the following morning before checkout to walk five minutes out the door and tour the Petronas Towers' skybridge and observation deck. One aside: We visited in the middle of a two-week jaunt around SE Asia. The laundry service was very convenient (turned around in only a few hours), but surprisingly expensive. Overall the hotel exceeded our expectations to provide a restful place for a stopover, and instead made our 24-hour stay a memorable segment of our vacation.
"Another top Hotel in KL!"
We always feel very good in Asian countries and the welcoming attitude from very skilled personal! You feel very comfortable and any question is always taken care of. Ask for a room in direction the park and enjoy the illuminated spring water in the evening and a walk in the park early morning.
"Great Location and Luxury Hotel."
We stayed here for 3 nights and could not have asked for a better location, as it is right next to the twin Petronas Towers. There are a number of great restaurants nearby and we highly recommend the breakfast which has a delightful range of foods to feast upon.
"They did it again...."
I stayed at the Mandarin over 10yrs ago and I knew from that experience that if I had another opportunity to stay in KL I would stay in this hotel again. I had high expectations for this visit, I had great memories of the incredible view of the Towers from my bedroom, the opulent fixtures in the bedroom, the amazing infinity pool, the superb breakfast choices and the top class service, I'm glad to say that I was not disappointed, on the contrary it was even better. This place has it all, it is in the best location and has all you would expect from a 5 star hotel but it has something more than most of the other city centre 5 stars I have stayed in and that is the high level of personal service, from all the staff I had dealings with. Even when I experienced a small issue, the hotel were straight on it and took the situation seriously, even providing me with Club benefits for my trouble which was very much appreciated. I cannot recommend this hotel enough, I had an incredible stay.
"Fantastic family stay"
It's the Mandarin Oriental. I can just stop the review right here. But Tripadvisor has this word limit thing. So I'll start with the negative first and the main one being is getting there. The problem isn't actually with the location. ON the contrary, the location is near perfect. * KLCC is right next door, for those who don't know it's a shopping centre, a big one * Petronas (twin) towers is basically at your door step * KLCC LRT station is a few minutes walk away * KLCC Free bus located at KLCC is right next door * Parks and gardens at your door step * There's various tourisy sites nearby: > The Chinese Buddhist temple nearby (serves vegetarian food around the back) > KLCC Aquarium > The Skywalk towards the Pavillion > Australian High Commission So location is fine. The problem is TRAFFIC. KL Traffic and the construction in the area. So make sure you're in a good Grab or a decent taxi. If you can, public transport, Putra Height train line toward Gombak takes you all the way to KLCC. It's not just about costs but the reality is that when KL jams, it JAMS! The train takes you straight there bypassing traffic. Back to the hotel and the positive, I'll start with the check in experience: excellent. We were there for our honeymoon and now we're back with our kids and our kids didn't want to leave! Tip: try and get breakfast thrown in. These days, I don't care too much about the buffet breakfast, so if I'm telling you to try and get it in a package, then take note. Otherwise the hotel has all the usual that one expects from a hotel of this calibur, but one might ask why this one stands out for me. It's hard to describe so I'm going to ask you to imagine getting off a skanky cruiseliner and then getting on board the Titanic. It's the reserved grandeur that hooked me from the first time and it'll probably be the same for you. The staff does a wonderful job. The rooms themselves are well maintained to keep up with technologies while at the same time retaining that Titanic feel I had a wonderful time there as a couple, and a great time as a family (two kids, five years old). During Christmas and New Year, you're in for a treat. Parents, there's two kids channels.
