Across the road from Central Park and rooms were spacious by New York standards. Disappointed that no tea/coffee-making facilities in room. For the price I would have expected an espresso machine at least. I was provided with a kettle, but battled to get them to remember to bring milk. Lovely ground coffee brought, but no way to make it, i.e. no cafetière Great view from cocktail bar, but food menu ("nibbles" / light snacks) over designed & messed with to make unrecognisable - doesn't work. Lovely staff, especially reception We chose this hotel to stay in a high-rise, but will not go again.
"Best Location and services"
Great prime location over view Central Park. The room is comfortable and excellent. Services and staffs are impeccable!! Nice spa and sport facilities. We enjoy our 3 nights stay. Friendly and attentive staff.
"Not my favorite Mandarin Oriental"
Starting with the positive features: the location is great, view over the Central Park is spectacular, the entire staff is very attentive and helpful. The restaurant kept booking for us a very nice table by the window for additional 30 min, though the place was busy and the tables were in high demand. Really appreciate. However, I certainly can’t pass without noticing certainly uncomfortable issues: The place is popular; restaurant and bar are busy serving the external guests. So, it was the first place in the world where I couldn’t have a lobby bar drink at 9 pm. “Fully booked, sir! Really sorry...”. When I came down at 11 pm, the bar had shut down already. So, too busy, too crowded, and the hotel guests can feel there at the party, but not at home. The premier Central Park view room is not spacious enough and comfortable for two; compared to the same class hotels you get less vacant space and no convenient working zone. And the room doesn’t look really fresh, as well. Really, next time l’d prefer trying another place.
"Change not always for the best !"
I stay here for business twice a year for 3-4 days at a clip. Rooms and Staff great ! The change of the Bar area was a big mistake as it is pretentious and not very good. The quality of Brands where at all time low level and trying to create a boutique flavor that slowed service and quality
"Best hotel location!"
The Mandarin and Park Hyatt are my favorite NYC hotels. The location of the Mandarin is the best, while the rooms at the Park Hyatt are a little nicer. The spa and staff are amazing here. And the rooms facing the park have very nice views. I couldn't find a place to review the Aviary - the lobby restaurant bar. The Aviary has to be the worst value worst bar/restaurant I have ever been to globally. I can't tell you how bad it is. Mandarin Management: Please fire these guys and go back to the old lobby lounge menu or bring in new people. You have a fantastic hotel, beyond taking Instagram photos what value does Aviary add. Avoid Aviary and eat at the hotel's Asiate restaurant or in room dining or any of the good places in the building at Time Warner Center or across the street.
