"Wonderful attention to detail and excellent staff"
I spent five days at the Melia Hacienda del Conde. I was really impressed with the positive and helpful attitude of every single member of staff I spoke to there. They were friendly, polite, efficient and attentive, without overdoing it. The hotel appears to be extremely well run and the attention to detail, such as the chocolate on the bed each evening, made the short holiday a treat. My room was spacious with excellent sea views and was tidied beautifully each day. Choosing a 'Level' room was definitely worth the money for all the extras it provided, such as the healthy snacks available during the day. I chose the hotel for its quiet location and the fact that it offered hydrotherapy facilities, as I was getting over wrist surgery. The YHI Spa was perfect for this and I think that it is a good idea that there is a booking system to use the hydrotherapy area so that the customers who go there have a relaxing experience and do not have to jostle for a place in the pools. 'Hospitality' is defined as 'being friendly and welcoming to guests and visitors' and, in my experience, the hospitality at the Melia Hacienda del Conde was first-class. I would certainly go back there.
"The other side of Tenerife"
Tenerife may have a reputation for a "pack 'em in" holiday destination but this is an excellent hotel, quiet and relaxing. Situated on the north side, well away from the over development of the south. Lovely pools and surroundings with the sea on one side and granite(') mountains to the other. Great staff, very helpful. Although we booked a basic room it was very spacious with small private patio, walk in closet, lounge area and large bathroom with separate shower-room. Not being golfers or overly keen on spa treatments the choice of a golf/spa hotel seemed strange but this is a great place to relax. May be quicker coming from the north airport as it's a 1hr15 driving from the south. Highly recommended.
"no disappointment on second visit"
The most important improvement: The Level guests can have breakfast - a blend of buffet and à la carte - at the restaurant Salazar. The level of attentiveness at breakfast can be further improved. The coffee beeing served in the buffet-restaurant for breakfast is of very poor quality. Quality of food for dinner at the restaurant Salazar very good. Housekeeping can be further improved. However, again a most wonderful stay, will definitely return.
"Tranquil and peaceful"
Firstly getting to the hotel is about an hour and a half from Tenerife south over some pretty big mountains. Some spectacular views but not for the faint hearted as the roads can be quite narrow with lots of bends. We had a private transfer and the driver was very good. Nice greeting on arrival everything explained including a map of the hotel as there are quite a few levels. We were shown to our room which was excellent, we had upgraded to a suite with balcony with the level benefits. Everything was clean, lots of space, huge bathroom with double sink big walk in shower and separate bath. Massive walk in wardrobe and nice balcony. Only negative was perhaps the view could have been better we were on the lower levels and basically had a bug palm tree and a bit of golf course to look at, couldn't see much of the ocean. Amenities are good two very nice pools and an excellent spa. The hotel is a bit precious over the spa, you have to book in advance and wear a swim hat while in the pool but it's very relaxing. There is a golf course next to the hotel but if that's not your thing a car is a must. The little village near the hotel doesn't offer much so if you want to see more you have to be able to get around. The staff at this hotel are great but for me the only thing that was a dissapointment was the food. We were half board but I'm afraid the evening buffet was very hit and miss. There was some good choice but some of the meat was very dry, I had a steak cooked for me at the meat counter that was full of fat and unedable, some of the combinations were strange (fish and kiwi'!'). it seemed like they were maybe trying to accommodate everyone rather than maybe doing themed nights perhaps and concentrating on fewer good dishes and getting it right. Not 5 star food I'm afraid. We found the food at the pool bar at lunch was much better, and the breakfast buffet wasn't too bad. Drinks were good if a little expensive for cocktails (12 euros) but I guess that's standard for top hotels. The level room was good, free beer, cava and soft drinks for the level hotel guests as well as some snacks and a nice place to relax. Overall a good stay, nice and quiet location excellent staff and very clean and comfortable hotel, just need to improve the food. Nice touch for my birthday they left a bottle of cava and some canapés in the room.
5 stars, adults only..........what more is there to wish. To be honest, this is almost heaven on earth. A warm welcome, beautiful room, great pool, nice, inteligent and accurate staff. A few points for improvement: when the clock goes to winter time, it means that the clock goes 1 hour back, so the sun comes one hour earlier, and sets 1 hour earlier too. Then it is a petty that the swimming pool towels still are provided from 10:00 am, and not from 09:00. The Spa area, is nothing special, and should get more attention. Maybe serve some tea when you have a hot water machine there. And clean the floors, give the visitors some attention. Now, after the towel (just one) is provided you see nobody anymore. We were in room 401, the view from the balkony is........a palm tree growing inside the terrace. You can do better, I am sure. Very positive is the nice bottle of cava, served in the room on my wife's birthday. Top! If we visit Tenerife again, you will be on our "wish list" for sure
