"Depends of your concept of 5* hotels"
I stayed there for 2 days; although the hotel hall is very fancy with a friendly staff, the rooms are poor and very old. The a/c is very noisy, curtains dirty and the bathroom is small. The shower has a nice pressure but the towels are old and the bed sheet average. The location, however, is great, with nice restaurants nearby.
"Dissapointing if you come expecting the 5* hotel they claim to be, OK if you never thought of it as a 5*"
I stayed at Melia Jardim Europa during a business trip. I usually stay and the TRYP SP Iguatemi, which is also a Melia, but I wanted to try something better this time. Looked around the area and saw this one, "a 5* hotel not too far away in price from the TRYP, cool!", booked. When my taxi parked at the entrance, I had to look at Google maps to check if I didn't ask for the wrong hotel direction at the taxi stand, because it looked exactly the same as the TRYP. First big disappointment, as the website shows a much more superior entrance an lobby, a better look and feel, expectable at a 5 star. When checking in, staff mentioned my room type was all booked, so they had to upgrade me ("cool!"). Don't get too excited, the "upgrade" room was (1) exactly the same as the one I had booked (just slightly bigger), (2) has a smaller bathroom with only a shower and no tub (to me the size and looks of the bathroom say a lot about the luxury of the hotel), (3) didn't have a king size bed, but two queens. So my supposed upgrade ended up being sort of a downgrade, since now I was sleeping in a smaller bed, and had a (much) smaller bathroom. When trying the restaurant, the variety offered was small, and very expensive for what it turned out to be. I had a much better meal around the corner at Kibô Sushi, than I had at the hotel restaurant. Good things' Of course, the staff is amazingly helpful and nice. But I think this applies to all Melia, this is their presentation card, something to expect. The Melia connect service continues to be one of the top room service connects I've ever experienced, with your request coming at your door in minutes. The staff at the lobby spoke really good Spanish (you would expect hotel staff to speak multiple languages, but this guy literally had no accent, very nice) which came in handy for a non Portuguese speaker as myself. The breakfast is just amazing, with lots of food and great quality. So overall, the Melia Jardim Europa is a 3 star hotel disguised in a 5 one. If you never thought of it as a 5 star, you will get there and be ok with it, nothing red flagged, nothing stands out either. But if you, like me, went there looking for a slightly better option than the rest of the hotels in the area, you will be disappointed, and feel that you were much better paying less money to get the same service you got here. Not a bad hotel, just not worth the 5 star qualification nor the rate they ask for the rooms they offer.
I stayed in this hotel for 2 nights. Location is quiet, a bit far from city center. The rooms are very clean and nice. The swimming pool was really food. All the staff were friendly and helpful. In the area nearby the hotel there are lots of good restaurant.
"A very nice hotel in a great neighborhood."
A very good hotel in a nice neighborhood where you can easily walk to plenty of restaurants, supermarkets, bars, etc.. The room was spacious and comfortable with all the necessary amenities, a nice big desk and fast internet connection. The complimentary coffee was not too good, so I would recommend that they change that. Breakfast was a nice buffet with good selection (eggs, bacon, sausages, cheese, fruits, yogurt, cereal, juices, coffee, tea, breads and pastries). Service was friendly and good. The hotel has a nice gym on the top floor with enough equipment to get a good workout. The only reason for not giving it 5 stars is the rooftop swimming pool area, which was very poor. The pool was really cold and the lounge chairs did not look not very nice. The area could use more green plants (there are a few) and the gray concrete walls could use some paint in lively colors (or some wall art) to make it look more attractive and inviting. The rooftop actually has a spectacular view of the city, so it would be a nice place to relax and enjoy! If I ever go to Sao Paulo, though, I would most probably stay here again!
