Located in the heart of the Barrio Salamanca district, the hub of business activity in Madrid, Meliá Madrid Serrano enjoys a privileged location for both business and leisure travellers, near the major museums, the Santiago Bernabeu football stadium home to Real Madrid Football Club, the Congress Centre on La Castellana.
The hotel boasts also direct access to the airport highway.
The hotel has recently been given a face lift; however it seems that most of the money was spent in the lobby. The room was very small, made smaller by a large, free-standing closet. The bathroom is poorly designed with no place to put personal items. I would only recommend this hotel (at least a basic room like we had) if you know that you are getting a very small space. I had to leave my suitcase on the floor, thus limiting floor space also. Just inconvenient.
"Business, 5 night stay"
just a block from the USA Embassy, had a very nice stay at this recently renovated hotel. There is a very nice and relaxing lobby and lounge/bar area upon entry into the hotel. the newly renovated rooms are clean, well appointed and beds/pillows were comfortable for sleeping. A very quiet hotel, slept well on the 6th floor even with windows open all night. Excellent breakfast with a variety of options including a gluten free zone with its own toaster. Only grumble is the heating/cooling system. The system either has heat (in winter) or air conditioning (in summer) so was there in November and only way to cool room was to open the window which worked fine until the maids would close them when the made up your room. Lots of shopping and food options nearby from Michelin 2 star restaurants to burger joints and from Tiffany's and lots of upscale stores to local neighborhood markets. Seems to be a popular hotel for tourist groups and you get good value for staying at this hotel. I would stay here again with no problem.
"Great location "
This hotel is located in the Salamanca district. It is close to a metro station and some of the city museums are at a walking distance. The room was small, but clean and comfortable. Breakfast was good and included in the price of the room. I stayed only one night in this hotel which I recommend for short stays in Madrid.
"Lovely hotel, beautiful neighborhood."
This is a beautiful modern hotel. The breakfast buffet is amazing with paella and fruits we’ve never scene before. This is not near the city center, but the neighborhood is near all the high end stores. We walked back from the Prado today, a half hour leisurely stroll along Castellana. I’d stay here again.
"Recently remodeled, clean but far out from city center, no views to outside, some problems"
We stayed at the Melia Hotel as part of our Gate 1 tour package. It looks like the rooms had been recently remodeled and were clean and comfortable though we could hear noise quite easily in the rooms around us. We did have to figure out how to turn on the air conditioner – when I say this I mean we had to eventually open the fuse box and turn on the fuse connected to the air conditioner as it had been purposely turned off by the hotel. We were given an interior room that had a window to a small interior open space that let in a little light. The breakfast buffet was above average though we did not like eating in the subterranean room where it was served. The hotel is far out from the city center, according to hotel staff about 45 minutes walking distance to the city center area. Staff were friendly and helpful.
