"Easy, easy, easy! "
Settle gently into China when you book into this hotel. Extra convenient location, a few blocks away from The Forbidden City & Tianamen Square, and walking distance from a beautiful shopping area. Staff are very friendly & helpful, most speak almost perfect English and they are ready to assist at any time. The rooms are big, warm and comfortable. Breakfast is amazing! There’s so much to choose from, and you’ll literally will not have to eat for the rest of the day :) It’s places like this hotel that makes traveling solo easy.
"Nice Place to Stay Near the Forbidden City"
Stayed at this hotel when I went to Beijing, China for 6 nights. Location wise, I would recommend this hotel because it is near the shopping district Wangfujing, APM Mall, Forbidden City and Tian'anmen Square. I can walk from my hotel to those tourist spots. Safe to roam around anytime of the day. Restaurants and convenience store around the area (not Family Mart or 7-11) but it's ok. It is also easy to find as it is in front of The Peninsula hotel. Although be very careful because there are a number of Novotel hotel in Beijing so make sure to tell the taxi driver exact location, better yet show them the address if you do not know how to speak Mandarin. Btw, there's no street market in this area. Only malls. I was lucky to be upgraded from standard room to standard suite. I don't know why and how but I am thankful! The room was pretty large, clean and I like the street view. Large bed but not so fluffy pillows (but that is ok). Toiletries, just ok. Bathroom is huge with bath tub. But I did not like the walls and floor because it looked old and with stains. Bottled water, toiletries, slippers, towels are replenished and room cleaned everyday. Food choices is good, I can't say great because several times I ate at their restaurant lunch and dinner, pretty much the same menu. Breakfast buffet is the same. But I am used to Chinese food so I have no complaints. Staff know how to speak enough English that I did not have a hard time communicating. They also have a desk for tours and will help you arrange to join a group tour .You will be picked up by the guide from the hotel at the agreed time. Although I had problem with the Peking Opera show because there was no guide to pick me up but rather the staff called a taxi to bring me to the place. Unfortunately, the taxi driver brought me to a wrong place which I didn't know he did not know. I just found out when I got there and I was informed by the man who saw me that it is at the other side of the street and I only understood the word "hotel." My mistake, I did not notice that the place for the show was not written in English on my receipt thus it took time for me to find the venue. I just crossed the street but not knowing what I am looking for but still I tried to look. Maybe there's a sign somewhere that will tell me it is the venue for the opera. Good thing I found a couple who knows how to speak English and brought me to the venue which is near where they are staying and they've seen the same opera. It was a scary experience. The hotel staff should have made sure that the taxi will bring me to the right place. When I got back to the hotel I told that staff and she just told me maybe the taxi driver was new. That was one experience I will never forget! Btw, there is a travel/tour agency just right outside the hotel, it is much cheaper. I availed of their Acrobat Show offer and they had a driver who picked me up and brought me to the exact venue. I like the ATM that can do currency exchange. Enter your USD bills, press some buttons and then you get Yuan currency. There is also a souvenir shop at the lobby and the price is the same as the ones I saw from the shops outside the hotel. Hotel transfer was not clear. I chose this hotel because it says in the website of Agoda.com that it has hotel transfer. But when I emailed them I did not receive any response so when I got to the airport, I just took a cab and showed the taxi driver the hotel address. Good thing taxi driver knows where and which Novotel hotel it is. I paid around 96 Yuan ($15 USD). The following day I asked about the hotel transfer and the staff at the reception told me that they do not have hotel transfers but when I asked again the following day, this time a different staff (just making sure same answer), and he said they have but it's only until before midnight. So I do not know which is true. Anyway, they just called me a taxi when I checked out from the hotel going to the airport. Overall, I think it is a nice place to stay if you're looking for comfort and a place near tourist spots. Reasonable price too. Although my expectation of Novotel was not met because I've stayed at Novotel in different countries and they're better.
"Great experience and excellent service from Premier Lounge team"
Great experience and excellent service from Premier Lounge team. The lounge cocktail food and drinks was very as was the breakfast. I think the toilets and showers in the men's changing room need some maintenance work.
"Great Place to Stay and central "
We started by arriving at about 7am and we were really happy that we could check into 2 of our 3 rooms. In fact those 2 rooms were upgraded which I’m sure the kids enjoyed! That meant we were all staying in superior rooms. I guess if I was going to be picky then I’d discuss the bathroom being a bit dated but I understand that this is going to be addressed shortly.......and besides if you spend too much time in the bathroom then you really aren’t spending much time exploring. At some point in time all hotels get to a stage where they need to update and it really doesn’t bother me. Cleanliness for me is far more important. Rooms were clean and tidy and this remained so throughout the trip. No complaints in that department. We did a tour via the tour desk and arranged our transfer from the airport that we arranged prior to arriving- this all went through without any issues. The team on the concierge desk were wonderful and for us this is what generally makes or breaks a holiday for us as we rely on them for advice and guidance as we like to explore. The guys here were great and got us up and running with the subway. Once you are sorted here you can get anywhere in Beijing very quickly and the trains are only ever about 5 minutes apart! Language is not too much of an issue with the concierge and front desk not to bad- or as I like to remind myself their English was better than my mandarin! One thing I did do was overbook by a day, which was about a $400NZ mistake as we flew out at midnight. I pretty much wrote that off, but once we mentioned this to the front desk they changed our booking to a late check out the day before and gave us the balance in a hotel credit which we could use in dining before we left. Awesome customer service!! We will gladly return!
Good clean hotel rooms are comfortable, warm and everything works. Large breakfast is offered ranging from European to Chinese. For the price including breakfast exceptional value. Staff are very friendly however bar staff need encouragement.
