"Hotel nicely located, good value"
Hotel nicely located, within walking distance (approx 30 min) of the Forbiden City and Tianamen Square. Nice breakfast, with choice of western type (very good) and chinese. Only one remark to do: if you are accommodated in a room located in the western side of the hotel (roosm that are on the 2nd or 3rd floor), please be prepared to have a 10-steps with no elevator. A bit annoying, indeed. Try to ask for a room located in the other side of the hotel.
"Not good English"
The man who checked us in did not have good english at reception. Then he asked if we wanted to buy breakfast. That was included in our package. Then I asked about the 19th Floor he said that was not included but i say Yes it is. I had a print out to show him. He told us room on level 1number 12. We Went to level 1 which was ground level walked around looking finally found someone to help us. He took us to 19th floor walked around looking for room. We went back to reception he said sorry wrote down wrong it was level 14 number 12. The pool was freezing. It was to be heated but not.
"No problems, all good."
We had 2 rooms adjacent, connected - a queen and 2 singles. No issues at all - everything worked as needed, buffet brekky was fine, beds were OK. Very handy to many sights. Pool was good for g'daughter to keep up her fitness. Aircon not very responsive to changes. Hotel was part of a 15 day package, so no idea of the economics.
"Good staff but poor rooms"
We had two rooms booked, one Queen and a twin room with two king singles for our teenage children for four nights. The motel has two "towers", east and west, and we were in the west tower. I can not fault the staff but the rooms are not great. The rooms are old and stale and the beds are hard and uncomfortable. While the rooms seem to be cleaned well, good staff, due to their age there is in ground mould in the bathrooms and the lights were hanging slightly out of the ceiling over the shower. It would take up to 5 minutes for hot water to come through. The rooms even smell old and stale and we really did not enjoy our stay at the Novotel as we did not sleep very well at all over our 4 night stay. We did think about moving to another motel but it is a public holiday period in China and the rooms that are available elsewhere are expensive.
"Very friendly staff"
In the centre of Beijing, close to shopping and the hutongs. Really friendly and helpful staff with great English. Not exceptional rooms, but comfortable. The exec lounge has a great selection and the breakfast buffet downstairs has even more choices. Huge gym and pool. Souveneir shop, ice cream cart and bar. Very happy here and the staff make it even nicer.
