"Best holiday ever! "
My boyfriend and I have just recently visited this hotel for a week away in Ibiza and already can’t wait to return! The hotel is clean, modern and most of all the food is amazing. Usually with all inclusive foods it’s just the standard boring foods with each night they changed the dishes and was an unbelievable array of foods available so you wouldn’t struggle to find something you liked. This even applies to my boyfriend who is a very fussy eater and even he found masses of food to eat! The drinks were very strong and I did have to ask for half a shot for them to be normal but that wasn’t an issue! It’s literally a 15 minuet bus ride away from San Antonio which costs €3 for both opposed to €15 in a taxi (The bus is number 9 and come ever 20 past the hour) The staff are so friendly and the hotel is positioned in the most beautiful location! Would recommend anyone wanting to go to Ibiza of any age, something for everyone!
"I wanted it to be better"
The hotel has recently changed names and appears to have had a refurb and it is extremely nice and clean however the main downside with the hotel is the room size they are extremely small with no real storage for long dresses (we hung ours on the full-length mirror) and nowhere for makeup toiletries etc except around the sink which is in the room where you also have to do your hair so you have a plug socket over a sink and you have to balance straigtners /hair dryer on the edge and hope for the best. We tried to make use of the Sauna at the hotel but when we went to use it it was 'Out of Order' on asking reception when it may be up and working they could only say 'not for the rest of the season' so that was dispapointing. With the exception of a few (Oscar, our room cleaner and the staff who clean around the pool every day), some of the staff really should not be in customer-facing roles. Oscar was the highlight of my stay he greeted us warmly, had our room ready on arrival and was most accommodating throughout our stay, Unfortunately, this cannot be said for other members of the Occidental team. I have never met anyone as rude to both myself and other guests as a young lady (I use that term loosely) in the restaurant area I am not 100% sure of her name as she moved quite quickly whilst spitting her venom at people in the dining area but I believe it was something along the lines of Lou-----.. Simply if you dared to put the serving spoon from one dish in front of another dish she would quite literally go into a meltdown venting her rage at anyone who would listen including other members of staff, most unprofessional. And then the lifeguard I'm not really sure what his purpose was apart from not really doing his job as a lifeguard as he was too busy reprimanding people for sitting within spitting distance of the pool (with plastic cups) or not allowing you to have an inflatable in the pool all of which he was happy to point out were clearly displayed around the pool area which is fair enough however the biggest bugbear bearing in mind his tenacity at all other actions I never once saw him or anyone else doing anything about towels on sunbeds at the crack of dawn which was, in fact, the No.1 no-no in the lists of do's and don't around the pool. If you are going to enforce rules then please enforce all or none and then at least everyone knows where they stand with this in mind if you didn't then comply with the early towel droppers you were then subject to not getting bed around the pool so, in turn, you end up doing exactly the same. I really rather would not have to get up at 7 am just to ensure I can sit around the pool maybe you should get Mr Lifeguard in early he would probably do a splendid job of removing towels. We also had a guest to the hotel to which before arrival I had asked Oscar was this ok (although never in all my travels have I had to seek approval for a visitor at any hotel I have stayed in). Oscar had left for the day when she arrived and she hadn't even made 2 steps across the pool area before Mr Lifeguard scuttled off to tell reception we had a visitor. Well, I had already told them Oscar had said this was no problem if she went to the reception for a visitor band which we would have asked her to do had we not been stopped in our tracks. Based on room size we would have struggled with a cat in the room due to the size did they think we were going to sneak her in to sleep in the toilet for the week'' Bizarre setup and on the basis the hotel is AI I can understand them thinking visitors may eat/drink for free which would be unacceptable, however, AI guests have bands and you can clearly see if someone does not have one. Having already booked into another hotel on another part of the island she returned later in the week as we were all going to Cala Bassa beach together and security would not even let her walk through reception to get our mum whilst I went across the road to the shop. I have to say these experiences really did take a shine of staying at this hotel and for this reason, I probably wouldn't go back. The food was ok a bit repetitive breakfast was the best meal of the day and the omelet chef was an amazing cook and a lovely guy giving great service. After breakfast service there was a self serve area for drinks and snacks however to go alongside the rather forlorn looking burgers and bacon they would put out two plates with cheese and ham to make toasties which was a great concept however due to people constantly going in and out there were always flies on the cheese and ham and one day black hair I have no idea why they couldn't be covered over with something to stop this surely there is a health and safety issue there' All in all, it wasn't a bad place but some areas are definitely lacking and leave room for improvement.
Fantastic hotel, food was great no complaints at all.Our bedroom was small and although there was a big wardrobe we could no hens anything long in it there was also no where to hang the towels or to put our toilet bags. The very modern bedrooms do not really work. At the request of the animation team I attempted to get on the stage fell and broke my wrist which required 3 trips to hospital.I never once heard from the hotel management. I returned from hospital twice in the middle of the night and could not even get a hot drink. The animation team gave me a box of chocolates on my last evening
"3rd Year Anniversary at Occidental Ibiza"
On arrival (11am) we were greeted by Alexandra at reception who was lovely with outstanding customer service, she explained check in wasn't until 3pm however I already knew that but that wasn't a problem so we changed into our beach wear in the changing rooms (Could be cleaner) and back up to reception to be told a room was ready for us. We were very surprised after reading a lot of reviews stating the check in had been a problem for others. We went to our room overlooking the pools and we thought it was very clean and modern, we left our room for the day to then come back later and a bottle of champers and a note saying Happy Anniversary was in our room (What a nice touch). The rooms were cleaned every day, our cleaner was lovely she was very friendly and smiley and even gave us a big bottle of shampoo/body wash as my partner had forgotten to bring his with him. The restaurant was modern with lots of tables, food was nice and well displayed. Animation team were very energetic and loud, sometimes to loud for round the pools where the older crowds were, trying to nap and then being woken by the loud team was a bit to much, soft chilled music is definitely needed at the hotel round the pool during the day for the atmosphere but other than that the pools/sunbeds were very clean. Local beach down the road which had a few beach bars with nice comfy sunbeds and good food. Buses that went in every direction, perfect for us as we wanted to venture out. Jelly fish at Cala Conte be careful as there are no signs that state this, I got stung within 10 mins of being there, it was fine and cleared by end of the day but just be careful. I recommend Cala Bassa its a beautiful beach with clear blue waters, great for snorkelling. Overall the hotel was brilliant and definitely recommend it to others that want a great experience in Ibiza, further out and quieter but definitely worth it!
wont get better service any were good food and drink good pools very clean every were very good snack bar could not fault any part of the hotel only thing if you were being fussy would be the toilets they were like changing rooms could do with being better situated
