The Ocean vagabond Essaouira is located at one hundred meters from the beach and two hundred meters from the medina of Essaouira. The Ocean Vagabond, besides its privileged site, is close to the various historic and cultural sites of the city: the ramparts, the port, the museums and the St. Anne Church.
A renouveler.Comment of L. Jean Paul , France the 2017-02-25
"A delightful stay with friendly hosts"
My girlfriend and I were very happy with our stay at the Hotel Ocean Vagabond. From the moment we arrived the hosts were keen to make us feel welcome and strike a good rapport. The room: a good size, clean, and tastefully decorated The bed: comfy and large The bathroom: Nice, although in need of minor repairs to the shower head holder and the toilet did seem to be constantly running which, in fairness, I failed to report as the they were very minor and in the context of out short stay (3 nights) Breakfast/catering: Well-prepared and delicious, although be aware that the breakfast menu appears to be fixed and sugar-rich! The pool: Can't comment as we didn't use it, but the garden is pleasant Spa treatments: Be aware that these are done at the sister hotel which is a <10-minute walk away. I was satisfied with my massage although, would've liked the more options (deep tissue etc.); similarly, my girlfriend was very happy her first hammam! A special mention should go to our hosts Hanan & co., who were always friendly and smiling. I was very impressed with the service we received and incredibly grateful for the surprise birthday cake and room decoration they organised (without any instruction my gf) - it really helped to make my day - thank you!
"Ocean Vagabond met our needs"
Very happy with the location, Great sea view and fantastic sunsets from the balcony! 200mtrs walk from the beach. Short walk to Bab Marakesh for food, shopping entertainment etc. Staff were friendly and informative! Wine and Alcohol shops didn't open on Fridays so stock up earlier if poss beforehand.......
This is a small, friendly hotel in a superb location. Situated just a few minutes from two gates in to the fascinating old walled medina, seconds to the promenade/beach and a short stroll to the fishing harbour and ramparts. It couldn't be better. The staff are vey friendly and helpful. The reception staff couldn't do enough for you. We had a room with a balcony (which you pay a bit more for) overlooking the beach. This had sun most of the day and a lovely view of the sunset so was a real bonus. A very spacious room and nice bathroom which was cleaned every day. Our breakfast was really good. Fresh fruit juice, fruit salad, yoghurt, a choice of eggs, lovely fresh bread & jam plus a Moroccan cake. To be honest, once we had finished our lazy breakfast, we really didn't need anything else other than an afternoon coffee (and I did normally manage to guts a crepe) until we went and found some dinner in one of the many excellent Moroccan restaurants all within a short walk from the hotel. We used to sit in the garden by the pool for an hour after breakfast and it was lovely. Plenty of sun or shade to choose from although we were there in January and by the afternoon there wasn't much sun apart from on the balcony. With the beach so close this wasn't an issue and might well be an advantage in the heat of the summer. As just mentioned we were there in January and the hotel was quiet. There was a bar area but this wasn't open whilst we were there but to be honest, we didn't want to use it anyway. We wanted to be out in the town soaking up the atmosphere. I would just mention that the hotel is off from a busy road close to the Medina and seafront. Not so busy that there is a problem crossing the road etc but you do get some road noise which I would think you would get more or less anywhere this close to the seafront. This didn't affect us as the windows are well insulated. If you were staying in the Medina itself the noise factor would be much more and it wasn't a drawback for us. The Hotel Ocean Vagabond is twinned with another hotel which has a Hamman/massage but with SO many places offering this service and all really close, it didn't matter that it wasn't at the hotel itself. We would certainly consider going back to this hotel if we were to go back to Essaouira.
"Not What It Says"
This hotel is very average and many reviews you read are misleading because there is Hotel Ocean Vagabond AND Ocean Vagabond beach bar, When you ready about sitting by the sea.......great wines and beers......oysters this is the beach restaurant NOT this hotel. The HOTEL Ocean Vagabond does not serve alcohol and the bar is not staffed and never open. The restaurant is a collection of 5 or 6 tables in an area adjacent to the lounge area. There is no menu, except a laminated card in each bedroom and you order through reception. The advertised spa and hammam does not exist either. You can book a massage but then have to walk 6/7 minutes to another hotel to have the treatment. After the massage you then walk back covered in oil to take a shower. This is not a terrible place to stay but misrepresentation and virtually no on site facilities. It should be named "Guest House" not Hotel.
Didn't get rooms we booked. Rude staff unfriendly service terrible breakfasts. Would not stay again. Towels for the pool like gold dust, all in need of a good overhaul. Good location for medina but would not recommend
