"Lovely Hotel under remodel"
This place is closed as of this time for remodeling. We had a lovely stay here and what makes it even more attractive is the location to the universities, upscale shopping and good central location. It was easy taking a train from the airport to downtown and a quick Uber ride to the Hotel. Hopefully they keep the roof-top bar which is fabulous.
We will have to wait to see the smiling faces of the Park Hyatt staff until after the extensive renovation in 2019. Rooms were very clean. Courteous and friendly staff. Food provided was well presented and delicious.
"Unexpected credit card charges"
Warning: This hotel charged my credit card $100 more than what the receipt said even though my employer had actually made an arrangement with the hotel that my employer would pay them directly (because it was a business event). Not only did they not honour that agreement, they also added an extra $100 charge to my credit card without letting me know about it at all. I didn't use any extra features like the minibar or extra TV channels, but still I was charged. Several of my colleagues had similar experiences. The hotel is promising to reimburse us within a week now, but I've already lost my trust in them. I'll never come back to this hotel and I hope my employer never books them again.
"Very Nice Hotel, Needs Updating"
While this is an excellent location to stay in Toronto (Yorkville), and I have been staying at the Park Hyatt for many years -- I am afraid it is sorely in need of updating to be on par with similarly priced hotels in the area. Though, I hear they are preparing to do just that -- so this review is based on a trip I had there a couple weekends ago (November 5th/6th 2017). We ended up having to move rooms due to a strong sewer smell in our room -- however the staff was able to very quickly move us to another wing entirely. It seemed like they were probably well aware of the smell issue...so that could be a bit concerning' In terms of room decor, again it was a bit tired for this class of hotel. I suspect this will be updated soon. The lobby and bar are very nice and all of the staff we interacted with were helpful and quick -- especially the valet staff. The gym facilities were way under par. There were barely any weights, no weight machines, very little room to move (if you do circuits of any kind), and only a few pieces of cardio equipment. I made do with it! But definitely sub par and disappointing. For a quick trip and with a bit of a discount -- this hotel is totally fine. Great location and very pretty lobby and bar. I wouldnt expect luxury when it comes to the rooms but certainly its still a very nice hotel.
"So Long For A While"
I've been staying at this hotel three to five time a year for the last seven years. The draw for me is its proximity to U of T. The quality of the rooms, the level of service from the staff - from the valets to housekeeping - have always been excellent. For a Yorkville location, the price was quite reasonable. If you're visiting Toronto in the next few weeks, give it a try.
