"Front Desk Staff Rude and Dumb"
Overall I'm -again- a little bis disappointed in my stay at the Park Plaza Beijing Hotel, the front desk staff is unorganized and not very smart. I have made several reservations, some were with points plus cash and some were prepaid, my overall stay was 7 nights. I provided the deposit of RMB 3000 and received my access card from August 11 to 18, where a specific paper with the WiFi passport has been added into my door card paper wallet, it did mention that checkout is August 18. Everyday my access card - out of a sudden - did not work and everytime I went to one of the front desk counters, I was asked whether I would be checking out already. Which is rather unprofessional and unorganized as well. I did also sign 5 documents with my specific reservations. Before, as a Concierge Member, they did not even give me a room upgrade and didn't know that the breakfast is included as a Concierge Member Benefit. So I gave up on my 3 years Concierge Member Membership and think that the Gold Membership would be fair enough, also this time I did not receive any upgrade, however, only once I woke up 2 days ago and there was water dropping from the ceiling onto my head and blanket, I got an upgrade to my usual suite. I know it is subject to availability, but through insider information I'm aware that the hotel is not full and not booked out. The front desk is, over the past years, I checked into this hotel several times, rude, unprofessional, doesn't know how to offer a professional service and how to deal with Concierge or Gold Members, as you can see I was writing about such unacceptable behavior before, but I can only write about it on TripAdvisor within a period of three months, I wish I could have been writing about it more often. In the gym there was no water during working out and I went to the telephone at the gym entrance, mentioned that the 3rd floor gym doesn't have water anymore, the ladies transferred my phone several times around and I had to explain it several times. Later they asked me about my room number and whether I asking for a room service. This hotel should not hire idiots that don't understand that a gym is not a room. However, the hotel doesn't have a jacuzzi, no sauna or steam room anymore and it has been removed, those facilities have been replaced to a meeting room. The stay was horrible and no one actually cares about their hotel guests. The only good thing was the restaurants on the 1st and 2nd floor, but the rest all rubbish. Don't stay there, it will destroy your mood and trip to Beijing. Facilities are just so so, the hotel staff dumb and rude, except in the restaurants.
"Park Plaza at Haidian District, Beijing"
A nice, quite, clean and well suited place in Beijing to stay for leisure vacation. Easily go to anywhere by subway where a station of line 10 is just nearby. In hotel restaurants are also good enough.
"I had an excellent stay!"
Having travelled around China for nearly one month staying at budget accommodation, I decided to spend some hotel bonus points on some more comfortable accommodation when I arrived at my final destination - Beijing. This hotel became my choice, and I am absolutely not regretting that decision. The staff was very friendly and welcoming - always eager to help - and they spoke excellent English. Being a Gold member of the hotel loyalty program (Club Carlson), I was immediately offered a room upgrade to a suite upon check-in. I could not have wished for a better start of my stay here. The suite was amazing - very spacious and clean! Bed was big and comfy, and the bathroom was very nice and clean. The WiFi connection was decent enough. The hotel also has a nice fitness room. One afternoon I came back from sightseeing and was unable to enter my room. It turned out to be a problem with the door lock. I went down to the reception twice (both times they attempted to re-program my access card), and the 3rd time I reported that my access card still did not work they sent someone with me back up to the room. The person that came with me did an excellent job. He quickly called in some technicians to have a look at the door lock. While they were troubleshooting, he kept me informed of what was going on, and did everything he could so that the problem would be remedied as fast as possible. Everyone involved were very helpful, and it did not take long to get it fixed. The hotel location is good. It is just a couple of minutes walk to the Zhichunlu metro station, which serves lines 10 and 13. With the metro so close, the hotel makes for a good base for exploring the rest of Beijing city. There is also a grocery store (7-Eleven) nearby, as well as a couple of good restaurants and cafés (Café 85°) - in addition to those located inside the hotel itself. Breakfast buffet was expensive, so I ended up eating most of my breakfasts at Café 85°. I had an excellent stay, and would absolutely come back again if I return to Beijing. Thank you!
"Just so so"
The location is pretty good, closed to Zhongguancun which is called silicon valley of China. However the hardware of the hotel is pretty old and seems not well maintained. The service is just so so. Club lounge was closed during the weekend but the receptionist didn't tell me that until I asked. The gym is pretty small. The breakfast was OK. The price of the hotel is not expensive but not cheap also. If you want to stay in the area but looking for a better hotel and better service, you can goto the Crowne Plaza which is about one mile away.
Located in a nice neighborhood, amidst a university area, with many restaurants and mini-markets nearby. Easily accessible, and thus a good base for your sightseeing tours plans. The Staff is very courteous and helpful. Rooms are modern and very clean, although size wise they tend to be on the small side. The mini bar fridge carries a good selection of beverages and drinks. Good air conditioning, free (but somewhat slow) wifi, and cable TV which carries some stations in English... Good fitness room. Food alternatives are quite good: a very good Chinese restaurant, an excellent Japanese restaurant, an International café (which serves an excellent breakfast), and a nice pub. To top that, they offer you an ample and comfortable lobby area excellent to relax while having a nice cocktail or glass of wine. The best, however, is the price. VERY affordable rates!! All in all: Great value!
