"Perfect location for a short stay"
Park Plaza is in a great location, a lot of the main sights such as Checkpoint Charlie, The Brandenburg Gate, Memorial to the Murdered Jews, Tiergarten, Alexanderplatz, Berlin Cathedral, Museum Island, shopping malls are all within a 30 minute walk. If walking isn't your thing then there's the underground, the hotel is conveniently near 2 underground stations making travel super easy. If you are looking to use the underground be sure to check out the Berlin WelcomeCard - A travel card that allows you to use all public transport for a one-off low cost, plus you get discounts on tourist attractions like museums, the TV tower etc. The hotel itself is nice and clean, the room we stayed in was spacious with huge windows looking out into the City. The staff were helpful and polite. The bar area looks great but we never had a drink there. The only gripe we have is there is only one lift, so you could be waiting a while for it to make its way up/down to you. Other than that the hotel was brilliant.
"Location perfect, staff great, but could do with some renovations"
Staff at reception is very friendly and helpful and makes you feel welcome. Once you've managed to make the key card open your door (according to a member of staff a lot of people find it difficult - reassuring on the once hand, but still quite annoying), you can enjoy a spacious room and with a large bathroom. The beds are very comfortable. However, the furniture in my room had certainly seen better days, some of it was rather worn and also the bathroom hadn't been cleaned to a high standard. The bathroom appliances could do with a makeover, too. But breakfast is good and plenty, and the hotel's great location near the "Museumsinsel" makes it a very good place for both business guests and tourists.
"Very nice hotel"
Pros: Park plaza Berlin Mitte is a modern hotel. Modern furnishings. Clean. Lovely and helpful English speaking staff. Comfortable beds. Only 100 metres from metro. We were able to see all the sites via the metro. There is an onsite restaurant and bar. Meals were nice and reasonable priced. Very quiet. CONS: Not enough lights in the room. Found packing suitcase in the dimmed lighting difficult. Our twin room was a connecting room. Not sure why. We booked 6 months in advance. Connecting rooms aren't as sound proof and at 10pm the people in the other room connected to ours tried the handle and knocked on the connecting door. Maybe all rooms are connecting' I would enquire when making a booking. If I visited Berlin again I would stay here.
"Great hotel but in need of some improvement"
I booked this hotel as I was attending a conference in Berlin and I noticed some very very good things and a couple of bad things that are worth noting. Firstly the hotel rooms are extremely cool and do add a fun atmosphere. Secondly the morning reception staff (Julia & Co) are absolutely awesome! I actually think that they offered the best customer interaction I had in Berlin as a whole. The reason I took away two stars was due to the following problems. 1) the room cleaning service is beyond appalling. They essentially do nothing in the room apart from barely doing the bed and maybe add towels. No vacuum cleaning. No removal of dirty cups and mugs. And no replacement of those either. The evening reception staff receive these complaints very coldly and take little or no action to better the situation unlike the morning team. 2) the shower and bathroom faculties are old and a little tired 3) the location is rather secluded from life and anything to do or eat or hang out in in the evenings has to be traveled to.
"Overall a convenient stay"
There are pros and cons to this hotel. At first my impression of the hotel was somewhat poor as the reception of the hotel needs an upgrade. I found that the bar on the right side of the reception looked dark and rather unpleasant. Please note that the hotel only has one elevator which could be inconvenient for guests with reduced mobility. There is a restaurant area just in front of the elevators offering little privacy as it is not separated by a wall from the busy hallway. However, the hotel is very well located. The location of a hotel is extremely important to me, as I wish to be close to a subway or other public transport. The hotel is indeed situated near two subway stops (Spittelmarkt and Märkisches Museum). There is also a bus stop at the Neue Ross strasse around the corner. The famous Alexanderplatz is located a few subway stops away. The Spree river is a 5 min walk away. One could walk along the Spree to the Berliner Dom and to the Museum Island on a beautiful sunny day (20 min). My superior room was modern and clean. I loved the spacious bath room. It is a plus that you can open the windows in the bed room to allow fresh air to enter. My room looked over the quiet courtyard. The breakfast room was lovely. I was provided glutenfree bread and there was also lactose free yoghurt available. Overall my stay was fine. Would recommend the hotel for the location and lovely rooms.
