"Beautiful Hotel with Great Views of the Matterhorn"
I enjoyed this hotel so much that I want to go back. It sits up the hill from the center of town providing wonderful views. Their jitney picked us up at the train station so we didn't have to pull our luggage uphill. We had a fairly large room with a large balcony that directly faced the Matterhorn, and since the weather was great, we used the balcony on several afternoons after hiking. The room had two closets and plenty of shelf space. The bathroom was a decent size, had double sinks making it easy for my husband and I to get ready at the same time, and the towels were plush. There was a coffee / tea machine in the room as well as bottled water that was refilled every time we drank it. Breakfast was included, and because we booked directly with the hotel online we were given a bottle of their private label red wine. It was quite warm in the afternoons while we were there so our room stayed warm at night. The hotel offers a bed change from the typical featherbed to a sheet and lighter cover if you request, which we did. The breakfast buffet is more than generous. You will likely find whatever you desire available. There is even champagne if you'd like to start your day with a Mimosa. The attendants were pleasant and would provide you with coffee or tea, and they were prompt at clearing away dishes when we were done. A manager was always available and generally walked around the tables to ensure you were enjoying your meal. There is also a terrace in front of the hotel where you can enjoy cocktails and a light snack at tables or on comfortable couches complete with blankets for chilly days or evenings. The view of the Matterhorn from the terrace is well worth the cocktail time. The hotel has a spa area and dining rooms. For those who want full board, there is a different theme for dinner each evening. We did not eat there for dinner but the menus were nice. There is also free wifi. There is also a separate building right next to the main building that has more modern rooms that they call Alpine Chic. We saw pictures of these and they look quite nice. Highly recommend this hotel.
This is a great hotel and everything was perfect. They are in a convenient location, have a great view of Matterhorn, and have wonderful service. The hotel was both modern and classic at the same time. We really enjoyed our stay and will definitely be back!
A lovely hotel in a great setting, although because of where it is, an uphill walk to get there , but wow is it worth it.lovely comfortable rooms - and if you are lucky, as we were , a fantastic view of the Matterhorn - although there are plenty of windows to see it from! Food was great, and a perfectly adequate breakfast, with a great view of the garengat railway. Easy to walk into zermatt to people watch and use the fernicular railways up to stunning views, Fantastic, would love to go back
"Best service ever."
The service started before we got there when we called ahead to organise to be picked up from the train station. Then when we got to the station, there was a nice man waiting behind his little buggy, and he loaded our bags for us. Then he drove us the short distance to the hotel and sent our bags up for us. Then the nice lady behind the desk got us signed in and escorted us up to our room and showed us everything and later showed us how to get around town. We even had a nice free bottle of wine in our room since we booked direct, although we didn't drink it due to lack of time and didn't take it due to lack of space. It was a nice thought though. The service continued when we left when they drove us to the station again. Breakfast here was amazing! Seriously good. 4 types of sausage and even Prosecco for breakfast. Only downside is lack of air conditioning or fans. This was a bit of a pain when we first got inside, but opening the door to the balcony and windows freshened everything up. Not sure if this would do the same during summer though.
"Dubious complaints procedure!"
Many years ago, on our first visit to Switzerland, my wife and I stayed at this hotel. We fell in love with both the hotel and Zermatt and almost every visit to Switzerland since has been planned around a stay at the Parkhotel Beau Site. So it was this year although I did travel solo on this occasion. The cleanliness and friendliness were similar to the past but there were a number of minor issues which seemed different together with a couple of significant factors which left me disappointed. The two main issues I had were the security of my room which had been seriously compromised, and the standard of breakfast. If I have an issue I prefer to address it on a face to face basis and not leave and send letters or emails after the event, and so it was that I met with the Director and his Deputy the evening before I left. They held their hands up to the security issue, it should not have occurred. On the other issue my booking confirmation stated that my services included a 'sumptuous breakfast buffet with live cooking station', there was indeed a live cooking station. The breakfast was disappointing; the fruit provided was fresh only, namely sliced orange, watermelon and pineapple which apparently is in line with their healthy eating policy. The cooking station provided freshly cooked egg dishes together with streaky bacon and sausage if required, there were no grilled tomatoes, mushrooms etc. There were plenty of pastries, croissants etc but filling up on these could hardly be construed as healthy eating. I never waited for my omelette longer than it took to cook it and breakfast, which normally takes 30 to 45 minutes, was consumed in less than 20 minutes. It was never sumptuous. The purpose of my meeting was purely to explain the reasons I was disappointed on this visit. Whilst the Deputy took the whole matter seriously the Director did not, and actually said 'well I guess this is not the hotel for you'!! I said his comment was outrageous and I felt patronising considering my loyalty to the hotel over many years, there was no apology nor withdrawal of the comment. This therefore is probably a sad end to our relationship with the hotel but we will remember the good times, in particular the friendliness of the staff.
