"Lovely hotel with great staff"
This was such a wonderful experience! The staff and owner, Joe, were as kind and accommodating as anyone would want. The rooms were spacious and clean with nice touches and amenities. The beds were the most comfortable!! We were on the 3rd floor and never saw or heard our neighbors! We even had the luxury of watching 4 firework shows from the balcony on New Year's Eve! The food was wonderful and we enjoyed the afternoon tea as well. We literally used every area we had access to - the bar, library, pool, restaurant and lobby. The only thing to note is that if you are travelling from America with children, please make certain that they understand if you want a child in your bed. It is their custom to sleep with their kids.
Everything about this hotel was exactingly perfect from the room to the food to the amazing staff! If I could move here permanently, I would do so. The staff is amazing. One needs to merely think about something and the staff is there to meet your needs! Everyone should stay in the Ping Nakara at least one night to experience the perfect boutique hotel. Historic Chang Mai is a short walk from the hotel, as are a number of superior restaurants. In addition, the restaurants at the hotel are fabulous. The chef’s recommendation for pork dinner was the best meal that I had while in Thailand, and Afternoon Tea along the Mai Ping River was perfectly bourgeois with French cabaret wafting through the dining area. The perfect antidote to civilization. Highly Recommended.
"Beautiful hotel with first class service"
Service was exceptional and the hotel was beautiful. This hotel has a nice pool and offered free breakfast that was delicious and loaded with options. I also visited Bangkok and Krabi on this trip and stayed at nice hotels in both cities but this hotel was my favorite.
"Checked out early, very dissapointed."
Firstly I need to acknowledge the lovely staff at the Ping Nakara, excellent service with a smile. The cleanliness of the room, bed comfort, pillow selection plus amenities provided, were of a high standard and the hotel is to be commended in this regard. On checking in however, we were disappointed to find ourselves in a very small room with minimal if any storage space. Small amount of hanging space provided plus 2 low shelves underneath TV and 1 high one in cupboard, however these were small. Luggage rack provided space for 1 suitcase, however this then prevented easy access to coffee making facilities. Other bags were kept next to beds which made for a narrow access as the room is only as wide as 2 small single beds and 2 small side tables. There was literally no where to store anything so the room had a cluttered feel to it. We advised the staff and I believe the owner who offered us a bigger room but a lower standard and also offered to store bags, however neither option was appealing as we were unable to even unpack bags. In the reviews people provided glowing feedback regarding this hotel and I am at a complete loss as to why. I have travelled extensively and have stayed at numerous 5 star establishments and I consider this to be the most overpriced hotel I have ever stayed in. Perhaps the architecture and boutique feel of the hotel is what appeals. Due to the layout of the hotel, gardens and large gaps around doors and windows, mosquitoes were a significant issue in the room, by the pool and during breakfast. Although repellent and plug in devices were provided, they continued to be an issue. Breakfast was also something people rated highly and all I can say is that they clearly have never encountered a 5 star buffet breakfast. We were provided the exact same breakfast at the Golden Bell the previous 3 nights for 1950 THB per night compared to the 10,000 THB charged by the Ping Nakara. We were grateful they allowed us to leave early with no fee charged. We moved to another hotel of a much higher standard for a lower price. Do look around, as there are numerous hotel options available in Chiang Mai.
"Lovely old world charm hotel - well located"
This is a lovely hotel in a quiet area - but near the night market. The staff are extremely friendly and willing to help. Very comfortable rooms. Lovely atmosphere. Nice library and bar area. The breakfast was extremely nice with local Northern Thai food options. If we went back I would definitely stay here again
