"A cold place where to stay"
I start from the positive aspects, which I consider granted for a 5 stars hotel: the facilities, cleaning, the large room. However, the hotel appeared immediately extremely cold and the staff not welcoming, but a little bit impolite. Serving the client and trying to address the client's requests seemed for all something undue..... frankly speaking I can expect this behavior in other countries but not here in Thailand, expecially after the wonderful experience that I got in other hotels, for example at Rachamanka in Chiang Mai too. When we reached the room the temperature inside was 10 degree. The Ac was at its maximum. I requested a room with a window that could be opened or a balcony but it was not available. The pool - it is opened till 7pm... this is bad! I've asked a coconut water and it was not available... Come on ..... we are in Thailand not in Europe and western tourists are fun of coconut water.... it is not available' Send someone at the corner to buy one! The breakfast - very poor: bread, cheese, jam and above all processed juices which seems absurd because of the amount of fresh fruit available in Thailand.... i've asked for a mango smoothie (which is included in the list of the pool's bar) and it seemed that I had asked for the moon.... and the waiter was just obsessed because we did not eat eggs... So, this is a nice place but the manager should work more on the staff and try to understand that to make unique an holiday few things are needed... one of this is the kindness of the staff and the perception that the staff is there to satisfy your "normal" requests.....
"Small, colonial style hotel; within easy walking distance of the Old Town and night time attractions"
The Ping Nakara is a small, intimate colonial style hotel not far off the Ping River, within easy walking distance of the Old Town and night time attractions including shoppers and food markets. The three story hotel is tastefully furnished, kept well cleaned and rooms are spacious, airy and bright. The bedding was very comfortable. Although not on the actual river front there is a lunch-time restaurant in a very pleasant garden setting on the river just a short stroll down the laneway at the rear of the hotel. The small dining area by the pool was very pleasanf, offerring a good variety of dishes, particularly at breakfast. Mosquitoes could be a bit of a nuisance around the pool in the late afternoon but were not noticable anywhere else or at any other time. There is a very comfortable sitting area on one side of the pool, furnished with local style furnishings and artefacts. Just inside is a well stocked library and an initimate, cosy bar. We found all staff to be exceptionally friendly and courteous, genuinely helpful and devoted to ensuring guests had a pleasant and enjoyable stay. The tour desk offerred a good selection of tours, personally designned for individual guests, at very reasonable prices. Thanks to all for a very enjoyable stay. We will come back to visit your beautiful city and region again and will definitely come back to you.
"Great boutique hotel"
Had an excellent 3 night stay in early August in a Royal Grande Deluxe Room (304). Overall, Ping Nakara is a great boutique hotel in Chiang Mai. Location is relatively near sights close by the river and eastern end of the Old City. Room was large, clean and well maintained. Big bed; fluffy pillows which are not too soft. The hotel included a free minibar with snacks restocked daily. Wifi in the room was spotty, but great in common areas. Breakfast buffet selection was limited but the option to grab made to order Western, Thai and other Asian hot items, with a good cup of coffee was great. Service was great for our needs. Requests for extra bottles of water always met with a smile. When the DVD player was not working, this was immediately attended to.
"Beautiful boutique hotel"
We sent 3 nights at the Ping Nakara. Wonderful stay. The staff was wonderful - from the front desk to the waitstaff at the restaurant. Breakfast was wonderful! We even book a tour through them and were not disappointed. Had a great stay and wouldn't hesitate to recommend.
"Charm and luxury"
We began our 5 week Thailand trip here and it was every bit as gorgeous as we hoped it would be. A lovely serene atmosphere, lovely smells, very comfortable beds and rooms in general and absolute attention to detail. Actually, we didn't find fault and just loved everything about it! Out holiday started at the hospital as my husband managed to develop a top grade infection on the way over. He had to go to the hospital and reception were always very gracious and kind about this and he was driven there and then picked up 2 hours later 3 times a day by the cool looking drivers in safari suits and hats! Lovely old world charm with simply charming interiors ..... :))
