"Nice visit but disappointed as we left. "
My husband and I were staying at another hotel, an all inclusive further south on the island. We decided to spend and day at the beautiful Playa Norte and ended up at Privilege Aluxes. We paid for our chairs at the beach club (FYI: towels not included) and drinks for the day, which were decent. We didn't have anything to eat as we were not hungry. As we left we overheard what appeared to be a local Mexican man asking how much the chairs on the beach cost. A waiter from the beach club told him that the chairs are only for guests of the hotel. This is clearly not true as my husband and I had just spent the last few hours visiting. This was hopefully just an isolated event but very disappointing witness.
"Relaxing vacation "
We had a great stay. The food was wonderful and room was nice and clean. Satay was delicious. The staff was all so friendly. We really enjoyed the band that played on the beach one evening during dinner. Wish it was done a few more nights through out the week. The beach service was amazing, especially Omar! We looked forward to seeing him every day. Great walkable location for exploring shops and restaurants. We also love eating at Picus down the road for the fresh conch ceviche. We will definitely be back!
"Best hotel on the island"
LOVE Privileges Aluxes!! Fun and friendly staff, beds on the beach, swim up bar and good food. This was our second stay and the hotel gave us a bottle of champagne when we arrived. The room was spotless and spacious.
"How can you not like this place'"
This was our third visit back to Privilege Aluxes. It was nice to see so many familiar and friendly faces again: Ervin, Francisco, Olivia, Jesus, Hugo, Hediberto, Luis, Sergio, Yalloy, Diana, Raul, and Omar. We felt like we were returning home. Service, which was excellent, was on par with that of previous visits. What draws us back here' PA is laid back, has a great location, good food (either at the hotel or within walking distance), excellent service, and no timeshare/vacation club sales pitches!! We did notice one thing different from previous visits and that is, the beach chair towel game was more prevalent. This trend was observed by other repeat visitors besides ourselves. It wasn’t enough to ruin our vacation but it is something that hotel management should address. The beach chair towel game is played by selfish individuals who go out first thing in the morning, lay their beach towels out on the chairs and then never bother to show up at the beach. People arriving later don’t know these are no shows and can’t find a place to sit. This also hurts bar business because empty chairs mean no people to serve. Note to Management: you have rules in place for removing towels from chairs in which no one has sat for hours. Please enforce them before this practice gets out of hand. Special thanks to Raul, who always greeted us with a smile and speedy beach service. Overall, we had another great stay and, as the review title says, “how can you not like this place'”
"It's time to book this hotel! It really is THAT good!"
To give you a perspective, I live on a private beach about 10 minutes from the #1 rated beach in Florida. I love where I live and it is beautiful, so when I recommend a beach hotel you know it has to be good. This hotel is a perfect choice. You are probably looking at the reviews saying to yourself, 'Well it seems like everyone is happy here, there's a lot of good reviews'. Do yourself a favor and book here! There's a reason why this place has so many good reviews! Service was great. I had tons of questions before I even got there, and Jesus answered all of them and was a delight once we met him upon check in. In fact, all of the staff was friendly and accommodating. I felt like part of their family. We traveled as a family and our young child was welcomed. We had a lovely towel swan display with hibiscus flowers on our bed when we arrived as well as another towel sculpture with rose petals on May 10, which is Mother's Day in Mexico. There was a handwritten note that said Happy Mother's Day; I know our room attendant Rosa created that for us and it was heartwarming to say the least. Hotel grounds are very well kept and the room is awesome. We had room 251--Grand Platinum Suite. The room is two levels and is in a penthouse location. The bottom level is a huge living area, kitchenette area, bathroom and bedroom and an outdoor sitting area. The top level is a gigantic private terrace which two lounge chairs, cabana bed, outdoor living area, a pool and a second full bathroom. Tons of honed and polished travertine throughout. Views were great, the outdoor terrace and patio overlooked the beach, the bedroom overlooked the cemetery. Sounds creepy but it was actually quite beautiful and colorful. We did not opt for all-inclusive but I would say it would have been a nice choice. The breakfast buffet was included without all inclusive and was great- it had a huge variety. You have the choice of inside seating or outside seating. That said, there is a lot of fun exploring the town and discovering new restaurants each day. For places to visit other than the beach, we enjoyed Punta Sur at the south end of the island; it was truly breathtaking. We also went to the Tortugranja turtle farm/center. It was amazing to see these animals so close. It also house some aquariums and an outdoor area with a dolphin and several very large sea turtles. Rent a golf cart for the day from the hotel--way easier than doing it on your own and it's basically the same cost as doing it on your own. The hotel is modern and sleek and there's no chance I'd consider staying anywhere else now that I've been there. If you want a really beautiful hotel with friendly service, nice amenities, a great beach, in an area with the clearest, most true turquoise water you've ever seen, then this is for you!
