My wife and I stayed at the hotel for the third time and we will definitely come back soon ! Always busy, but friendly staff knowing how to threat their customers the right way. Location is perfect with both cafes, great restaurants and shopping within safe walking distance.
We arrived in Johannesburg after a 26 hour flight @ 6 Am and by the time we cleared customs and travelled to the hotel it was @ 8 AM. Per usual hotel protocol, check in time is the mid-afternoon - however b the time we finished breakfast, my family's three rooms were ready and were were able to nap most of the day and be ready for the evening activities. I am grateful to the hotel staff for accommodating us so graciously for it was a marvelous introduction to South Africa. We also enjoyed the well appointed and comfortable rooms, its safe location within the Melrose Arch complex and proximity to many shops and restaurants and ATMs - there is even a Starbucks - one of a very few in the county. There was an active bar/nightclub scene on the ground and first floors - but it did not disturb the sleeping rooms - Finally the Amarula cream milkshakes were absolutely divine, - milkshakes are definitely 'a thing" in South Africa there were the traditional nonalcoholic ones available too.
"Modern, Classy Hotel"
This hotel has a modern decor with a comfortable feel. The room was decorated in basic colors which matched the decor of the rest of the hotel. Being a little older, I enjoyed walking down the hallway to my room and seeing photos of some of the great Hollywood stars of yesteryear. I asked and was given a disability room that had a shower my wife could easily enter and exit. The only complaint I had, and the reason I lowered my rating to a 4, is about the beds. Each of the twin beds had mattresses that had a slight hump the entire length of it which caused my wife and I to roll to one side or the other. The breakfast buffet was wonderful. Lots of choices. There was little to do in the immediate area around the hotel. A short walk away was a shopping district with lots of stores and restaurants. I would recommend having a car to really enjoy the city.
"Luxurious City Escape"
I had booked this hotel to celebrate my cousin’s 18th Birthday. I had pre-requests prior to my arrival which I had emailed through to the hotel. My email was promptly responded to and I was contacted by Lesedi to finalize the arrangements. Everything was well taken care of with good attention to detail. Check-in was well handled and timeous by Whitney, very friendly and provided excellent service. I had a few minutes to wait prior to the check-in time of 14h00 and had the pleasure of witnessing a group check-in for Emirates Cabin Crew. The staff at this hotel are very friendly and most importantly efficient, it is well located and central to restaurants in the precinct. The Birthday Girl was pleasantly surprised and loved all the extras including the very special sign at the foyer wishing her a happy birthday- very nice touch. The hotel has great modern finishes and the rooms are spacious and well set-out. The only disappointment of the evening was our return from dinner where we had hoped to get in some decadence at the Milkshake Bar only to be told, the only flavors available were Crunchie and Peppermint Crisp. This is what the Fire and Ice is famous for, so we were a tad disappointed that we could not indulge. Apart from that we had a great stay.
"Holidays in Johannasberg"
What a beautiful and modern hotel. We visited over the holidays and were impressed with the chic modernness of this hotel the location near the arch is ideal with shopping, food and attractions in short walking distance. The holiday lights were spectacular. Food was good and staff helpful
