"Better than expectation"

"Outstanding views, surrounds and masala chai latte - that is, for a city!"
If comfort, quiet and green open space, with fine views are important, these criteria may tip the balance - along with the very friendly staff and fine blends of masala chai, complete with ginger if that is to your liking. Yes, the building is dated but, importantly for me, it blends into the landscape perched atop a forested hillock. While it would have been 5 star in its heyday, it is modestly and well-fitted throughout and is a good, secluded but readily accessible base if needing or wanting to stay in Putrajaya. My deluxe room was very spacious and comfortable, large handsome bathroom, balcony too. Food is good, 2 restaurants - the 'dining' one is relatively pricey but at least my choices proved to be quality dishes. And there is an infinity pool, discretely to one side of the hotel. Yes, I'd return here ... and I shall be interested to find out how long it takes for the hotel's original name to be forgotten. Shangri La really is a rather more appealing and romantic name for me!
"Unexpected vacation !"
Stayed here courtesy MAAS—— as our flight was cancelled ! Amazing interiors of Art Deco style. Very courteous and helpful staff . Very comfortable beds& pillows! Bathrooms are huge & good! The buffet breakfast is varied & very tasty! The a la carte lunch menu too was varied and good sized portions too ! We thoroughly enjoyed our brief unexpected holiday !! Thank you to the staff of the hotel for making our stay so nice !!
"A Tad Dated but Amazing Service"
Firstly let me address the main shortcomings of the hotel which is upkeep and maintenance since they took over from Shangri-la early this year. The building do need a fresh coat of paint and there was even a tiny leak from the windows due to the heavy rain in our room which was solved with some tissues. Other than that, everything else is superb especially the amazing service of the team there from the buggy drivers to the front desk staff to the cafe waiters. Guess they inherited Shangri-la's team as well. The room itself is comfortable and the bathroom is gigantic while the buffet breakfast is above average in terms of choices. Will be back for sure in the future!
"A disappointing stay"
The Shangri -La at Putrajaya ( now taken over and renamed Pulse Grande as from 31/12/17) - this hotel is a product of its time, with all the 1980's features, and some of its rooms and furniture seems to date from them. The hotel is in a lovely location (although not particularly pedestrian friendly) and is set in some astonishingly beautiful gardens. Our room was once quite the sophisticated style, but now it looks dated even shabby. The room also needs a through cleaning. However the bed was extremely comfortable . The main restaurant is open ceiling (very 80s office block), and only partially sectioned off, indeed the hotel corridors have an almost prison like quality with short squat heavy doors and open landings. Breakfast was a mixed bag with some good choices, including many local /Korean / Chinese dishes - but no quality bread ( some sliced white was still frozen). Our evening meal was enjoyable- although one dish have an overindulgence of chillies - something not even mentioned on the menu. But the biggest worry was the swimming pool, which was a health risk - it was in dire need of cleaning. On the whole a disappointing stay.
