"Relaxing Week "
Stayed on a B&B basis. Pleased with room quality (in modern block) and breakfast choice. Gardens are stunning even in January. Located in Funchal but away from centre. Good promenade to next town along the coast nearby. Excellent restaurants close by or in the centre of Funchal. Kept very clean and to a high standard.
"A Beautiful Place To Stay"
It is undoubtedly a beautiful setting; the gardens are stunning, each tree and plant is identified as to what it is and its origin, a true delight for the tree and plant 'huggers'... We enjoyed a ground floor Premium room (from the website I wasn't sure what we were getting), spacious room with good sized bathroom, sofa and easy chair, complimentary mini bar for soft drinks, fresh fruit etc everything you would expect. the terrace leading out to the gardens had a twin sunbed (fixed i.e. it could not be moved around the terrace) and chair, both very comfortable and getting the sun from about 3 to 6pm. The 'Standard Rooms' get the sun in the morning although some guests moved their beds on to the lawns which seemed allowable. The two restaurant areas were very nice, we did not eat in the Manor. The Garden Pavilion (breakfast & lunch) has about 10 tables outside which were always popular so be prepared to eat breakfast indoors some days; lunch times were less popular so outside tables not a problem. Breakfast was okay, we have enjoyed better selections (cooked and continental) elsewhere. Lunch time (light) meals were very good. Two pool areas, one for adults only (but there were no children staying anyway) and the larger pool, Adequate number of very comfortable sun beds, umbrellas and plenty of towels provided. It was hot when we were there; no pool side drinks facility so to get anything involved pressing a (wireless) button on the small tables provided with the sun beds. Problem was not every table had a button and I don't think they all worked....we survived though! Finally the service was exemplary throughout, all day, every day and everywhere. Outside the hotel good places to eat abound between the hotel and the town. Depending upon your route into town it can be quite steep in parts and it is 20 - 25 minutes (leisurely) walk to the marina and another 5 - 10 minutes into the old town area. A taxi back is between 6 - 10 Euros depending upon your 'launch point'.
Wow, what a find. Where to start... impressive architecture (old and new), beautiful tropical gardens, wonderful food (vegetarian husband treated like a king!), super staff. Everything we love - quiet and stylish. We've found paradise! Can't wait to return, hopefully, next year!
"An oasis of peace and tranquillity in beautiful gardens."
The staff were exceptional. We enjoyed an invitation for aperitifs in the Manor House and felt very welcome and special. Sitting outide for breakfast was a pleasure and a great start to the day.We appreciated the fruit in our room, some we didn't recognise. It was an absolute pleasure to stay here and we hope to return.
Rarely does one end up in the perfect place if searching for comfort and quiet after a day's hiking. The Quinta da Casa Branca is magical. The property is beautiful and very well laid out. The rooms (premium, with sun lounger) are of great design, spacious, and well kept. The service is impeccable, everyone is very friendly and goes out of their way to make your stay a good one. From beginning to end we could not once point at something something we did not like. Only one night out of 6 did we go elsewhere for dinner, the rest of our time we just enjoyed being pampered "at home" at the Quinta da Casa Branca. Note that this is not the right place for people who want to hang out at a hotel bar and party all night, but just perfect if in search of privacy, tranquility and total luxury. Compliments to the whole team!
