"A hotel hidden in a garden"
This is a such a lovely hotel - so unlike the huge places on the sea front. It is set just a few minutes back up the hill from Western Funchal in several acres of beautiful gardens. Close to all the restaurants yet a total oasis of calm with views of the hills above the city. The modern rooms are hidden amongst the trees and beautifully decorated with good sized balconies or terraces and beautiful bathrooms. The staff are very friendly and welcoming. Breakfasts are sumptuous with eggs of all kinds cooked to order as well as a massive buffet. The bar looks over the gardens and there are two great restaurants. The main pool is large and lovely with a smaller, adults only pool as well. All in all this is the place to go for a laid back, luxurious time in Madeira. We were celebrating our wedding anniversary which the hotel forgot about - when I mentioned it in the feedback form we received a hugely apologetic email for the oversight and then, a few days later, a box of Madeiran chocolates arrived in the post. Such a thoughtful gesture - we will definitely be going back.
We have just returned from our first stay in Madeira and thankfully we chose Quinta da Casa Branca as our hotel! We could simply not find fault with it. It is a reasonably small hotel so nothing felt over crowded and did feel very private, the gardens really do add to the experience, as rooms face directly on to them (butterflies are amazing). We had a lovely clean room with a large private enclosed sun deck. We stayed as a bed and breakfast guests, but did use the bar facilities (I would recommend the cocktails). The breakfast was plentiful and of very good quality, the breakfast room is quite small (as is the hotel), but was never full, regardless of the time we chose to eat. All members of staff were very professional and so helpful and kind. They really made our stay, nothing felt like a problem, questions answered, reservations for dinner/tea made for us. We had a little issue with our transfer back to the airport which was managed for us without our knowledge, until collection. I always read reviews left by others and find them helpful in making my choice, however, I never leave a review myself. This hotel has inspired me to leave my first review, so I hope I have done the hotel and staff justice. On my return to Madeira, I wouldn't want to stay anywhere else!
"Perfect location for our honeymoon"
We stayed here from 1-8 May and had a wonderful time. Our room was lovely and spotless. The hotel staff were always extremely friendly and helpful. The gardens around the hotel are glorious. We luckily were there during the annual Flower Festival in Funchal which was lovely.
"Quiet luxury in contemporary garden surrounding "
We stayed here for a weekend break in one of the garden suites that open out onto the grounds which are in effect a miniature botanical garden (complete with identifying information about the various plants). I loved the contemporary design of the hotel buildings which complemented the original Quinta which houses one of the restaurants. There are also two swimming pools both of which are to be found discreetly in the grounds. The hotel is about a 20 min walk from the centre of Funchal, and is v close to many good restaurants, including Cris's Place A beautiful, well-designed, quiet place to stay.
