"Worthwhile to spend time away from the heart of the city"
I had the pleasure of staying here for the first time Sept/Oct 2017 having been a regular visitor to Stockholm but typically staying closer to the main city centre. I wasn't disappointed upon arrival, an elegant building - clearly multipurpose use, the room was very spacious and I had a great balcony view over the grounds. The gym facilities were by far the most impressive I have seen in a hotel, how often do you see 92kg kettlebells' (Vikings train there). The pool was a good size but I must admit a little too warm for my liking and would benefit from the lights being just a little brighter. The breakfast buffet selection was superb, you would struggle not to find something delicious and if you said otherwise I wouldn't believe you ! I did use the restaurant for evening meals and that too was of superb quality - but clearly it is often mostly occupied by business/working parties and hence can show a little in terms of the typical clientele. thankfully no misbehaving children. the only real improvement I would offer is to be able to request your own selection of teas/coffee for the room - I am a tea drinker but black, not one for the fruity infusions and even though I left a polite note of request - it was ignored. Having bicycles on site for use is a nice touch but I think that given what you pay for the hotel, to pay for daily hire is a tad cheeky - a security deposit is fair, but beyond that you could just get a city bike
"Lovely hotel - Clean and great breakfast!"
We stayed here recently while attending a family wedding in Sweden. The facility is very clean and nice. The breakfast that was included was rather amazing. So many delicious options each day. Totally impressed with this! Our room was recently updated. It is rather modern and simple design. The bathroom was a bit difficult as the access to the tub/shower was odd, but other than that we liked it a lot. This has a bus stop right out front which is rather nice. Clean and well done!
"Ever thought about refreshing the hotel'"
Good hotel, but the difference between the nice and stylish lobby and the old, aged and unattractive rooms is too big. Definitely, a good refresh and update is needed, otherwise the pirce risks to be no longer competitive, being to high for the average quality. The swimming pool is nice, but the sauna is very small and very very old. Also - hard to believe in a northern Europe hotel - males and females have their own separate little one, so I couldn't have a sauna with my wife. Breakfast, on the other hand, is very very good and various.
"Pleasant but tired"
We've just returned from a long weekend at this hotel. As many have said, the hotel is badly in need of refurbishment. I understand only the 6th and 7th floor rooms have been modernised, which means all others, like ours are comfortable and clean but with decor distinctly from a bygone era. Also, due the hotel layout, many of these lower rooms face another wing of the building, so poor views from the rooms. It's such a shame when there is a beautiful lake nearby. Very disappointing for a Radisson Blu and detrimental to their brand in my opinion. That said, the hotel is set in beautiful grounds on the edge of a large lake which can be seen from the main restaurant, and the views from there are breathtaking. Breakfast is buffet style with lots of choice and is of good standard. The hot smoked salmon was a particular favourite of ours but most tastes and dietary requirements are catered for. The hotel is semi rural, but there is a bus stop directly outside the front entrance, and the 67 bus will take you into the city centre in about 40 mins for about 40kr. Alternatively you can walk a very simple route to the nearest train station (Solna) in about 15 minutes, and get the train which is 2 stops into town. We did this for fresh air and exercise and felt better for it. There is a large modern shopping mall next to the train station too, with numerous restaurants, clothing outlets and leisure facilities. Worth venturing to if you want to dine away from the hotel. We tended to eat either at the shopping mall or in town. The hotel does contain an indoor swimming pool and sauna. There is also a bar but this appeared to be closed most of time probably due to lack of demand. Transfer directly from the airport is about 450kr and takes 30mins in a taxi. Cheaper but more time consuming option is airport express train into town, then bus to hotel. We found the restaurant staff to be very friendly and helpful, reception staff less so. "Lena" who served us seemed tired and disinterested, but it may have been a bad day, as happens. As the first contact point and source of information, we expect front desk to be a friendly and welcoming experience. Overall, a comfortable and pleasant stay with much room for improvement.
"I dont recommend specially in the second half of year (cold weather)"
I was there for 3 nights last week. I understood they keep the old & classic design of building but rooms facilities were poor. Cold rooms and poor heating system (I told this issue to reception 2 times but no care), more than 20 hours wifi was cut .... also poor elevators sensors & I saw more than 4 times that people stick among elevator doors. breakfast also lake view were the good point.
