This is a fabulous hotel in Dublin. Old Georgian building (looks like a castle) and beautifully maintained with sprawling gardens. A little away from the city centre. Surrounding area outside the hotel has nothing to offer (no shops, not much activity) but it is quite and peaceful area. Hotel is well maintained and has a lot of rich history. It can easily be called one of the tourist attractions! Staff is very friendly, informative, caring and helpful. Front-office staff attends to all the needs and requests made by guests and they also double up as Concierge! Within few days of our stay we got to know most of the staffs by their names. All of them went out of their way to attend to every requirement that we had. Italian restaurant is very good (and it doubles up as breakfast restaurant in the morning). This could certainly be a preferred hotel for anyone traveling to Dublin. specially if one is not very particular for a hotel located at the heart of the city.
We arrived at the Radisson Blu St. Helen's Hotel early in the morning when we arrived in Dublin. The hotel stowed our luggage while our room was getting cleaned and we sat in the bar area and had tea, croissants and scones. The landscaping and interior of this hotel was like a palace. The service was terrific and the people were so friendly. I cannot express our overwhelming pleasure of this hotel. It was far beyond our expectations.
"Relaxing atmosphere but service and maintenance maybe a bit too relaxed"
I agree with other reviewers regarding the setting and location of the hotel: beautiful, historic building with impeccable landscaping in the garden. The reason for the three-star rating is based on my expectations (as a business traveler) of a luxury hotel. Check-in: I called ahead for early check-in and I was not offered such option, even for an additional cost. I have asked to have my name written down the day before in case there is a way to have a room assigned sooner because of my business schedule. I arrived at 1pm the next day (check-in time at 3pm). At check-in, I was informed there was no room and no acknowledgement of my call the day before. I was told to return to the reception desk at around 2pm but there was no systems in place to place guests in queue based on their time of arrival. I did not have a room assigned until close to 2:30pm. It caused a great deal of stress for me as I had to head straight to a business meeting after a long-haul flight, despite my effort to make arrangements ahead of time (especially that I offered to pay extra). I was disappointed by the attitude of the check-in staff in addressing guest concerns. I have stayed at other radisson blu hotels (and their competitors) and this was the first time I felt this way. And then there were issues with the room. I turned on the air-conditioning and found the fan to be extremely noisy. I also found the ceiling light in non-working condition amongst a few other minor issues (see photos). I made a call to the front desk and was told the issue would be fixed. The next day, upon returning from my meetings, I found the ceiling light repaired, but the fan of the air-conditioning unit remained very noisy. I did not use the unit for my entire stay. (fortunately, weather cooled down after the first day). Based on this, I find the maintenance service disappointing for a hotel that charges over 200 USD per night in low season. The business centre offers free printing service, but the printer may not print properly depending on the format of file. Expect to run back and forth between the basement and front desk (or pick up the phone before running back up). The staff member also printed my boarding pass on the back side of what seems to be unwanted hotel documentation. I found that unprofessional even though I can see the effort to be environmentally friendly. I also consulted hotel staff about the return trip with the aircoach (airport shuttle). I was misinformed about the schedule of bus - I was told the bus stops at 00, 15, 30, 45 minutes of the hour but that was not the case for my travel. I do not know if this is a problem with aircoach or hotel staff's knowledge. But please be sure to check the aircoach website if you plan to take it back to the airport because there is no schedule posted at the bus stop. Overall, a comfortable stay but disappointed with the service and maintenance experience for a hotel that has such beautiful surroundings.
"Classy Hotel near Dublin Center"
The St Helen's is about 15 min by bus from city centre, but the bus service is excellent. The hotel is quite large but without being enormous. Very pretty grounds -- like a royal park. Also a lovely conservatory bar. Breakfasts (included in rate) are bountiful and in a nice room (can be al fresco in warmer weather). Rooms are large by European standards, and are remarkably quiet. All services are excellent, including very helpful (and easy to get to) registration staff. There is quite adequate FREE parking, and at least in business class our wifi was free.

Picturesque day, stunning venu. Excellent conference venu and hotel is not to get shabby as you can see. Glorious sprawling estate that could be mistaken for a grand museum back in its hay day.
