"Lovely hotel and fantastic location "
Stayed in a standard double room. Modern, clean and top class bathroom. Good facilities with fridge, coffee machine and air conditioning. Next door to the famous Cafe Central which is a must visit. Staff were pleasant and helpful; helped to set up restaurant booking and left a bottle of bubbly when realised it was our wedding anniversary. Really handy to city centre. As area is pedestrianised very quiet at night. Perfect for any city break in Vienna.
"Perfect located 4 star hotel in the centre of Vienna"
This was my second visit to this hotel. It is a comfortable stylish hotel with the best location in the city in a renovated street. The rooms are quiet, well furnished with excellent bath rooms and a very, very good bed. Breakfast has everything you wish for. My favorite were the Eggs Benedicte.
"Not much style, but a good hotel"
The superior room was OK. We asked for a quiet room and got one. The building is a former commercial house, so the ceilings are high, which is nice. The staff are good and the location perfect for the old town. The breakfast excellent. We paid 230 Euros, not expensive No bath, but a good shower The style bit was conspicuous by its absence : some weird décor/plastic flowers in the dining room/the room TV set into a bizarre mirror fixture. The designer must have been having an off day (or year) But who cares about style if the location and price are right'
"lovely hotel in excellent central position for city sightseeing"
We had a twin room at front of hotel which was very comfortable and well equipped. Breakfast in our room was varied and appetising and more than we could eat.A bonus was being next door to the famous Cafe Central. For us the hotel restaurant meals were not to our taste but I would still confidently recommend this hotel for its excellent service .Nothing was too much trouble for the staff and service was excellent.
"Would definitely recommend"
Let's start with the negatives because there are only 2 and that’s the only reason I gave a 4 star instead of 5: 1) the bed is too hard for me. I don’t believe I have ever slept on a hotel bed as hard as this one, and it has stopped me from sleeping until remedies were made (see later). 2) Housekeeping standard varied hugely. The usual lady who cleans the room does a good job. All the used amenities were replenished, bed properly made up and curtains pulled back. On the day (ie Friday) where the usual lady was absent, no amenities were replenished, bed wasn’t made up, curtains not pulled back and cushions not propped up. It was so bad that when we returned from our day’s activities, we thought the room had not been serviced. The only sign of it being serviced was that towels were replaced and bins emptied. But that’s all the bad things about this hotel. The rest are all good / excellent reviews! The hotel is stylishly decorated and very centrally located. Other than a short underground ride to Schonbrunn Palace, we did all of our sightseeing on foot. We had been very kindly upgraded to a suite (room 503) and it was spacious, airy with lots of natural light as we have 5 – 6 big windows. The bathroom was also very spacious with a separate shower cubicle. As you would normally expect with a suite, you get a sitting area which comes very handy after a day’s walk on cobbled street. It also has a dining table which allows you to have proper in room dining. We took advantage of that a couple of times during our stay. Breakfast in the restaurant was a joy with a good variety of cold cuts, bread and juices. I particularly enjoyed those smoothies in small cute bottles. You can order your cooked breakfast and the lady who looked after us since the first day was extremely friendly. Cooked breakfast on a weekend, however, was served haphazardly. We saw a number of tables which placed their orders way later than ours got their orders way before we did. The in room dining was also of very high standard. I particularly enjoyed the schnitzel and my husband loved the goulash. What comes next is a list of fine examples of what customer services are all about. We arrived at the hotel around noon. We got there after flying 2 long haul international flights back to back and then a regional flight from the UK. To say we were exhausted was a huge understatement. But we were told we had been upgraded to a suite and that was a really really nice surprise. Alexandra, at check in desk, was sympathetic to our flying hours and spoke to her colleague to help us to get a room earlier. Her colleague, very kindly, checked with housekeeping, and in turn told us that the room will be ready in an hour or so. I cannot tell you enough times how grateful we are to hear this news – and once again, a big thank you to the check in team! When we made the reservation, we requested 6 pillows in total in the room. Since we have been upgraded (and perhaps reassigned to a room that will be ready earlier), there were less than 6 in the room, which we didn’t notice. However, 5 mins after we got into the room, there was a quiet knock on the door with a housekeeping lady holding 2 extra pillows. I have seen numerous occasions where hotels have completely ignored my request for extra pillows but never ever had any hotel remembering our request on extra pillows after rooms were swapped. Well done! I mentioned earlier that the bed was too firm for me. After a few hours nap, my back was sore. We called front desk to see if there is anything they could do to help. 5 mins later, the same housekeeping lady came back with an extra duvet to give me some more padding, again with a smile. Eventually I had to ask for another extra duvet at midnight – and it was brought to me promptly – also with a smile. I slept fine after that. This is a really nice hotel, not just because of the location or the décor, but because the staff are really nice and who are there to provide a top notch service with a smile. Definitely recommended. Do something about the mattress though!
