Everything was scaled own from the size of the room, the bathroom, the lighting (dim), to the food portions. A modern hotel which had done a course in "how to squeeze in extra seats on our aircraft". Our initial room was top floor with skylight windows but within 2 minutes water came trickling through the ceiling above the door - phoned reception to request a room change - an engineer would be sent to assess the problem - i.e. either we were lying or maybe we could live with a stream of water coming through the ceiling' The engineer arrived and one glance told him we needed moving, and so we were moved to a far better room lower down with more space. The mini bar was locked and I requested it be unlocked so that I could place perishable items inside including water bottles; credit card details were required first. Breakfast was another bun fight with not enough tables for the guests and a single coffee machine. Eggs had to be ordered at the restaurant reception desk but no guarantee when they would arrive (1 minute/10 minutes +/-), chicken or beef chippolatas and stuck together bacon rashers; that's it for a hot breakfast. The group bookings for evening meals were of standard fare, nothing wrong with them in terms of quality but tiny. You are paying good money for this hotel which is not in the centre of St Petersburg and not up to scratch.
Business room is ok, rather big and cozy. I liked the design and room set up. Location is good, breakfast is ok. Personnel is friendly. Food in restaurant is so-so. Conference room is a disaster: no windows, low ceiling
"Nice and friendly hotel"
Had made a reservation at the Radisson Royal hotel and got moved to Sonya the night before arrival. Not bad at all... we got upgraded to superior room facing the atrium. Really nice room and bathroom. The noise from the breakfast was a little bit disturbing though. The breakfast was OK not bad, not excellent but good. Discoverd the last day that you could order eggs of your choice. Very friendly staff and concierge. We booked a private tour through St.Petersburg and it was really good but a little bit expensive. The location is also OK, not the best for shopping or dining but within walking distance if you have good shoes. All in all, value for money
This is by far the best Radisson Hotel I've travelled to and it's that mostly because of the superb staff! Every little thing that we needed or requested was delivered as fast as possible and with a smile. The concierges were excellent at giving advice. I stayed in a upgraded business class room with a bathtub and a view to the street. The room was spacious and I very much liked the design. The cleaning lady did excellent job every day. The best part of the room was the super comfortable bed! A good night sleep is very important when you've been on foot wondering around the beautiful town all day! And in this bed I felt like I didn't wanna leave at all. Breakfast was nice. Lots of different choices and fresh juices! Although during my stay I never realised how does the toster work, there was always someone from the staff to help me with it =D Service from Lobby bar and Metamorphosis restaurant was also very good and the prices were very reasonable. Everything was good but the best, very best part of the hotel is their excellent staff. For the service I would give 7 stars! I would like to mention Alexandria M. who did her best to give me an amazing room and she is the example of perfect service level. Also everyone else at the front desk made me feel so special during my stay! Thank you and there's no place I would rather stay than Radisson Sonya when visiting St.Petersburg. Perfect!!
"Good hotel with fair location"
Just back from a family stay in St-Petersburg, we stayed at the Radisson Sonya for 3 nights. Good hotel and very good price-quality ratio, good location if a bit far by walk from the main attractions. Really good concierge service
