I was at the hotel attending a conference for 3 days. The hotel and the staff were wonderful. The grounds are beautiful and my room in the Valencia building was very nice. You need to use Super Shuttle from the airport as the hotel is 25 miles from the San Diego Airport.
What a fantastic dinner we had at the RB Inn. They have a wine pairing dinner about three times or so during the summer. We were lucky enough to have visited in September. First of all, I cannot say enough about the staff. They are the most exceptional group of people. They spoil you and they are happy to do it. They are the most courteous group of men and women. Then on to the dinner, simply awesome! Every course that was served was equally as delicious as the one before. The wine pairings were unbelievable! I'm not even a white wine drinker and loved their Chardonnay. I am so proud and happy to be a member at the rancho Bernardo inn. The food is incredible, the people are awesome and the place just oozes with warmth!!!
"Truly Superior in Every Regard"
From the moment I arrived it was apparent that the RBI was different. The front desk staff was exceedingly polite and cheery, making every effort to accommodate my desires. The short walk to my room through the open air lobby and well groom gardens was delightful. This was outshone by the marvelous room with the quiet view of a courtyard. Everything in my room worked as it should, and the room was incredibly comfortable. The "nightlight" under the bed was a nice touch. Each meal was better than the last. The fitness room, tucked off in a quiet corner near the spa and an adults only pool, was well equipped. Everything was clean, and all of the equipment worked properly. The checkout experience was just as delightful as check-in (even at 5:00am!). Of all of the hotels I have visited, this would be the first one on my list of places to return. Management has truly groomed a superior staff, across the property!
Take your money elsewhere! Pool was dirty, rooms were subpar and as if it wasn't overpriced already, I was charged with some ridiculous taxes that weren't mentioned to me during the phone reservation nor check in. I paid way too much for something that's a half notch above Motel 6. Worst hotel/motel experience ever. I've stayed at both luxury hotels and motels and my expectations were always met for what I paid -- this was a complete waste of money. I'm actually embarrassed that I fell for the alluring photos I saw online -- the kiddie pool had so many bugs in it and the deck was littered with discarded drink cups, and the room "views" are laughable.
"How one server made all the difference"
Two words made all the difference -- Vickie Cooper! Rancho Bernardo Inn is a nice place but I gotta tell you the thing that makes a REAL DIFFERENCE for me is the quality of the staff. Vickie Cooper served a whole group of us with the kind of professionalism and personality that you rarely see. And for those of you who think I'm just saying this because she's cute -- (she is so cute) then you don't know how demanding a group we can be. Anyway, thank you Vickie Cooper for a wonderful evening. All the best to you!
