Stayed in this hotel for 3 nights during a conference. I would say is a good hotel. Rooms: Are nice and clean, but a little bit outdated. And the cleaning should be a little bit better for a five stars hotel. Location: Is great near the main street of Barcelona. The hotel has also a rooftop bar which is very nice and you can also have a dinner or take a drink there, which is not bad. Breakfast; very abundant and good. Staff: Very friendly and professional. I would recommend this hotel
"Incredible Staff & Hotel"
This hotel is one of my favorites in Spain. The FIRST thing you will notice is how professional the staff is and how clean the grounds are. I was traveling with a party and the staff immediately accommodated us using all available check-in areas. This was really nice because they got us all processed in minimum time after a long flight. Our staff member was Marc Lana and he is the ultimate Ambassador and face of the Renaissance hotel chain! His professionalism and customer service skills are outstanding! When I travel, the FIRST think I will look at before I write a review is the cleanliness of the hotel and the staff attitudes. Marc did not disappoint and he should be recognized by his supervisors for a job well done. Not only was he efficient when we checked in, but he had local area suggestions as well as hotel options for us to consider. I was very impressed at how he engaged us in conversation while checking us in. Marc was genuinely concerned that we had a comfortable and enjoyable stay! It was mentioned by several members in my group how professional and nice he was and how refreshing it was to be greeted in such a nice manner. The hotel is immaculate! I never once saw any of the housekeeping staff, yet this place was sparkling! From the lobby, to the elevators, to the hallways, and the rooms...all SPECTACULAR!!! Well done and kudos to the housekeeping staff! All items were well stocked in the room and everything was perfectly placed. The room has many amenities, but you may have to look for the closet. It is cleverly hidden behind the half mirrors next to the bed. There are also outlets next to the bed, so you can use and charge your devices at the same time while in bed. The bed itself is very fluffy and comfortable. The room is comfortable and the air conditioner kept the temperature steady at the set temperature. The bathrooms are very nice and it even includes a heating device mounted on the wall next to the towel holder. The shower is spacious and it drains well along with excellent water pressure. The WiFi in the room is also very strong! The security is excellent at the hotel and there always seems to be someone near the door and in the foyer "watching". That made it very nice to feel safe, since the hotel is located on a busy corner. There is a nice dining area with a great selection. Once again, the staff there is wonderful and accommodating. There is also a grocery store right across the street if you need anything extra. Overall, you won't be disappointed if you select this hotel. I highly recommend the Renaissance Barcelona Hotel to all of my friends and readers. If you need anything at all, be sure to ask Marc and the rest of the staff! I've always said that if you have a happy staff, it is because management is treating them well and doing things right! Well done managers!
"Wonderful hotel for 5 days in Barcelona"
This was the perfect hotel for our visit to Barcelona. Centrally located making walking within the city a breeze. The service was excellent. We thoroughly enjoyed afternoon drinks and tapas on the 8th floor outdoor patio bar. Beautiful views of the entire city. Our room was very clean. The hotel rooms could use a little freshening up/face lift. Nothing to be overly concerned about. We would definitely stay at the Renaissance again.
"Many pros and a few cons"
My husband & I stayed in the Renaissance for 3 nights, beginning Oct. 18, prior to a cruise. Since we had a long overnight flight from Miami (& we are both in our 70's, with heart conditions), I corresponded with two different people (one named Beatriz) at the hotel prior to the arrival date to try to ensure an early check-in. They both assured me that they would do their best, but that it would depend on availability. I might also mention that I am a "Gold Elite" member, and that I had diligently saved up 120,000 points for this room! My last contact with Beatriz was (I think) only two days before check-in. Imagine my surprise when we arrived, and were told that there was no room for us for an early check-in. We were told that we may get one in a 1/2 hour, or it could take up to 3 hours! We opted to wait, as we were too exhausted to go anywhere. This wouldn't have been so bad, except that the lobby was packed with people waiting for rooms, and everybody got one but us! There was a lady from the same flight as us, who had called from Miami the day before. She went straight to her room! We know this because she told us! Do they think their customers don't talk to each other' Finally, after 3 hours of waiting patiently, I was in the ladies room crying, and my husband went to the desk, and calmly stated, "We have to have a room". At that point, they gave us one. The final insult was that on top of the 120,000 Marriott points that we had to pony up, they charged us an extra 311 euros. The explanation was that it was for the "upgrade and fees". What upgrade' We had a small room, with a king-sized bed (broken down mattress that sagged so much on my side that I couldn't get too close to it without rolling out onto the floor). Also, no balcony, which I had requested. The bathroom was nice, with a bidet (which I LOVE!), but the door didn't close all the way. No biggie. The hotel is clean, well located, pleasant staff, complimentary umbrellas to borrow, nice breakfast, nice bar and staff where you can get small meals served. A definite plus. We are now questioning whether our loyalty to Marriott is misplaced. Left a very bad taste.
Wonderful staff, had a smooth and great check in experience. They acknowledged our platinum status and made sure we had everything we needed and received all of our platinum benefits. Our room had a very large terrace (the terrace was bigger than the room) which was nice but there is also a nice terrace on the 8th floor that stays open late with music and cushioned lounge sofas. Rooms are small, but that's standard. Christopher at the front desk was absolutely fantastic and made our trip more enjoyable so a big thank you to him!
