Former residence of Charai’s family, secretary of Pasha Glaoui, Riad Charai was restored in the respect of Moroccan architecture and tradition. The small grove bordering the Riad enhances the contrast with the tumultuous activity of Jamaa Lefna.
The rooms are majestically designed in dark shades, in perfect harmony with the original brightness of the Riad, and offer modern facilities to ensure your optimal comfort.
For your relaxation, the Riad offers a large patio with fountain and pool, gardens planted with orange trees, palms, cypress, jasmine and cactus, and two large terraces overlooking the palm grove, the medina and the Atlas Mountains.
Riad Charai also houses a spa with steam room and relaxing massages to unwind after a long day of sightseeing.
Charai Riad is located in the Bab Tharzout near the Mosque Zaouïa, 15 minutes from Jamaa Lefna (through the souks) and 3 minutes from the taxi station.
Very friendly and knowledgable staff. Beautifully decorated riad, quiet and clean.Comment of M. Garry , United States the 2016-11-04
Comment of R. Hugo, France the 2016-02-05
Staff where amazing very caring for all guests, 3 guys from reception Mohamed and i don't know how to spell the other name Mhajid?? had huge patient with us arranged for my surprise birthday party and had me drinking calming tea any hour of the day/night, facilities where fabulous, the issue with the location is that is difficult to get to the market unless you are very good at memorizing streets but if you get to the market once and avoid the guides on the street you can book many kinds of transport even from the riad our taxi driver was always the same the guy Ibrahim spoke 5 languages very educated person and all arranged by the riad he would leave us and then pick us up, anywhere. Little trick if you are a women you can ask other woman on the street how to get to places and they will help you no guides needed just read about getting your way into marrakech and you will love it they are all pretty peacefull warming people. Definittly going back to little paradise that is Riad Charai. PS: Not all ladies from the spa spoke english that was no issue at all as i felt absolutly safe in their hands even when striping off to have massages and Hammam they where lovelly.Comment of M. Lovely Riad. Very quiet with many lovely furnishings within the accommodation and the pool sitting amid the internal grove is perfect, especially after a days wandering within the Medina. Staff were very helpful and the map they supplied was accurate. They were also very helpful in providing advice on sights to see and taxi/guide for trips out and about. Location is in north of Medina and a fair walk from El Fna but don't let that put you off. Would definitely stay here again and would recommend it to other travellersComment of M. Accueil à la marocaine très chaleureux. Ambiance et décorations milles et une nuits. N'hésitez-pas à goûter aux clémentines qui poussent dans la cour centrale. Sessions hammam et massages très professionnelles et relaxantes.Comment of S. Cédric, France the 2014-10-25
Beautiful heaven of tranquility in mad Marrakech. Staff cannot do enough for you, lovely breakfast included.Comment of T. SASKIA, United Kingdom the 2014-10-14
"Absolute stunning unique oasis"
We walked in and our jaw dropped. When we opened the door it was miles better than we expected. The communal area has a great relaxing atmosphere with stunning lighting and traditional high end decor. Prices of alcohol are very reasonable by Marrakech standards. Our room and en suite was utterly stunning and we had a massive balcony looking over the riad. The photos don't do this place justice. The staff we more than helpful and friendly - so much so that the night staff guy walked us 15 minutes through the unfamiliar streets and personally ensured we got in a taxi. On our last night they were out of the wine we order so the 'brine' the night shift guy went out and got it within 5 mins and I didn't even ask. The lounge about area and pool area is amazing to relax and so immaculate. If I ever come back I will undoubtedly book this again. 5*!!!!! I'm here now and will be sad to leave.
"Positives and Negatives"
Beautiful riad in the middle of nowhere.. quite daunting when you arrive as the area doesn't feel particularly safe nor is it very nice. Once you walk through the main door it is a really lovely riad and so quiet! The staff cannot speak hardly any english so whenever you want help or advice they have to call somebody else outside the villa which can be rather annoying. They are all very kind though! Breakfast is bread and jam with tea or coffee... we were rather disappointed by this especially when it is stated as free breakfast and this is all we got. Be prepared to carb up everyday! The riad is far from most things and if you want to eat and drink you have to walk 30-35 mins to the closest restaurant as you can't get taxis within the souk/medina area. Taxis to outside into the new city are very expensive therefore if on a budget you will have to walk most places. The fridge in our room was broken and took a lot of hassle to sort this - annoying when it is boiling hot and you just want a cold drink in your room! Air con is not particularly powerful either, in the august heat this was noticeable! Overall it was a lovely place but food and location lets it down.
We spent time in Riad Charai in March 2017, and we highly recommend it. The place is beautiful and awesome, the staff is nice and kind (French and Moroccan), and the place is perfectly located. We loved the area, the design and the service.
"An oasis in the harsh city of marrakech"
I loved everything in this hotel! I preferred to spend my time inside than outside of the hotel. The staff are so kind and polite. The room big and 100%Moroccan style. You have to try the traditional food from Fatima's hands
(Traveled Dec '15, forgot to write a review) What a gem!! Absolutely beautiful and so romantic. Room was spacious and gorgeous, breakfast was lovely, big and yummy (best fresh orange juice I ever had!!) and the staff was professional and caring. Marrakesh was hot, but did not feel any of it indoors, quite amazing. I'm in love with this place!!
